Canelo Alvarez stays on top of the updated Super Middleweight division with another successful title defense as new fighters make it into the top 10. Here are our Super Middleweight Boxing Rankings, but first, let’s look at some honorable mentions.

10. Osleys Iglesias

Starting off the list at number 10, we have Osleys Iglesias from Cuba, who has an undefeated professional record with 10 wins 

He is the current IBO super middleweight champion and has previously held the WBA Inter-Continental super middleweight title as well. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Marcelo Coceres via first-round knockout, and there is no official announcement about his next fight.

9. Vladimir Shishkin

Vladimir Shishkin is a professional boxer from Russia and he has an undefeated record of 16 wins and 0 losses. 

Shishkin is the former WBA Asia super-middleweight world champion. He is one of the most impressive rising talents in the super middleweight division. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Mike Guy via TKO and his next fight has not been announced yet.

8. Diego Pacheco 

Fighting out of the USA, Diego Pacheco is an undefeated professional boxer with 21 wins and 17 knockouts on his record. 

He is the current WBO International super middleweight champion and has defended his title three times. In his most recent fight, he defeated Shawn McCalman via Unanimous Decision, and there is no official announcement about his next fight.

7. Jaime Munguía

Coming in at number 7, we have Jaime Munguía from Mexico, who has an impressive professional record of 43 wins and only 1 loss. 

Munguía has previously held the WBO world title at light middleweight and defended it 5 times before moving up to middleweight and winning the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title. At Super Middleweight, he held the WBC Silver super middleweight title, and in his most recent fight, even challenged Canelo Alveraz for the Undisputed title. 

However, he could not dethrone the champ and lost via UD. As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

6. Erik Bazinyan

Fighting out of Canada, the next boxer on our list, Erik Bazinyan, comes from Armenian descent, and he has an undefeated record with 32 wins. 

He is the current  NABF and NABA super middleweight champion with 8 successful title defenses. In his most recent fight, Bazinyan fought Shakeel Phinn in a very competitive fight that ended in a split draw, allowing Bazinyan to retain his title. 

His next fight has not been announced yet.

5. Caleb Plant

Caleb Plant is an American professional boxer, with a record of 22 wins and 2 losses 

Plant is the former IBF super-middleweight champion and won the title in 2019, after defeating José Uzcátegui. He defended the title three times before losing it to Canelo Alvarez. 

Recently, Caleb Plant fought David Benavidez with the WBC interim super middleweight title on the line. However, he lost the fight via Unanimous Decision.

4. David Morrell

David Morrell is a Cuban professional boxer with a record of 10 wins and 0 losses. 

Morrell is the current WBA (Regular) super middleweight champion and has already defended the title 4 times. He is the former WBA interim super middleweight champion as well. 

He is coming off two impressive back-to-back knockout wins against Yamaguchi Falcão and Sena Agbeko, and he has won all five of his title defenses by knockout.

His next fight is against Radivoje Kalajdzic on August 8th for the vacant Light Heavyweight World Title.

3. Christian Mbilli

Christian Mbilli is a French professional boxer born in Cameroon. He has an undefeated record of 26 wins and 0 losses.

Christian Mbilli currently holds the WBC Continental Americas and WBA International super middleweight titles which he has defended 4 times.  He has won multiple other regional titles as well. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Rohan Murdock, and his next fight is against Mark Heffron on May 25th.

2. David Benavidez

  • WBC Super Middleweight Interim Champion

David Benavidez is an American professional boxer with an undefeated professional record of 28 wins and no losses, and he is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion. 

He is also the current WBC interim super middleweight champion, and he won the title after defeating Canadian boxer David Lemieux.

Benavidez defended the title in an amazing fight against Caleb Plant. He started slow but came back with a lot of pressure in the later rounds to win the fight. 

Recently, Benavidez defended his title against Demetrius Andrade. Benavidez was able to overcome the early rounds as Andrade won the first 3 rounds. He was able to hurt Andrade and later knock him down in the 4th round with a right hook.

Benavidez dominated the next two rounds nearly finishing Andrade. Andrade corner stopped the fight after the 6th round. David Benavidez still remains the mandatory challenger to Canelo Alvarez.

Canelo Alvarez is a Mexican professional boxer with a record of 61 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws. 

He is the current undisputed super middleweight champion of the world, collectively holding the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, and The Ring Super Middleweight titles. Canelo has also won world titles at light middleweight, middleweight, and light heavyweight. 

Álvarez fought undisputed light-middleweight champion Jermell Charlo in a historic fight marking the first time two defending undisputed champions have fought each other. Canelo had a dominant performance, with a late knockdown in the 7th round, which solidified his win via Unanimous Decision.

In his most recent fight, Canelo made the fourth defense of his undisputed super middleweight title in a masterful yet grueling fight to hand Munguia his first loss as a pro. There is no announcement of his next fight but there are rumors of a Terence Crawford fight in the future.
