Daniel Matellon

Daniel Matellon is a Cuban Professional boxer with an undefeated record of 13 wins and 0 losses. Matellon defeated Ivan Garcia Carrillo in his most recent fight, and though he doesn't make it into our light flyweight rankings, he still deserves an honorable mention. 




Felix Alvarado

Felix Alvarado is a Nicaraguan professional boxer, with a record of 38 wins and 2 losses. He is a former IBF light flyweight world champion and is ranked #3 by The Ring. However, he vacated the title and moved to flyweight in his most recent fight, which is why he doesn't make it to our rankings.




Agustin Mauro Gauto

Agustin Mauro Gauto is a professional boxer from Argentina with a record of 17 wins and 1 loss. He is the former WBO International and IBF Youth Light Flyweight champion and is ranked #8 by The Ring. He didn't make it into our rankings, however, he does deserve an honorable mention.



Mark Vicelles

Mark Vicelles also deserves an honorable mention and he has an undefeated record with 17 wins.




Top 10 Light Flyweight Boxers

10. Carlos Cañizales

Carlos Cañizales is a professional boxer from Venezuela. He has a record of 25 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw.

Cañizales is the former WBA (regular) light Flyweight champion of the world and has held multiple regional titles as well.

In his most recent fight Cañizales defeated Armando Torres via first-round TKO, and his next fight has not been announced yet.




9. Daniel Matellon

Daniel Matellon is a Cuban professional boxer, with an undefeated record of 13 wins and 2 draws. 

Matellon is the former WBA interim light-flyweight champion, he won the title after defeating Erik Omar Lopez in 2020 and has defended the title once against Jose Argumedo winning via UD. 

He won his most recent fight against Ivan Garcia Carrillo and won the WBA Fedecaribe light flyweight title as well. His next fight has not been announced yet.




8. Esteban Bermudez

Esteban Bermudez is a professional boxer from Mexico. He has a record of 14 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws. 

Esteban Bermudez is the former WBA (Regular) light flyweight champion. He won the title after defeating Carlos Cañizales via TKO in May 2022.

He also challenged Hiroto Kyoguchi for the WBA (Super) and The Ring light flyweight title, however, he lost the fight via TKO in the 8th round. Bermudez suffered from a massive cut over his eye and was also knocked down in the 7th round, before losing in the 8th.

There is no official announcement about his next fight yet.




7. Elwin Soto

Elwin Soto is a Mexican professional boxer, and he has a record of 19 wins and 3 losses.

Soto is the former WBO junior flyweight champion. He won the title in 2019 after defeating Ángel Acosta. He defended it 3 times before losing it to Jonathan González. 

In his most recent fight, he lost to Hekkie Budler, and there is no official announcement about his next fight.




6. Hector Budler

Hector "Hekkie" Budler is a professional boxer from South Africa, with a record of 34 wins and 4 losses.

Budler has held titles in two boxing weight classes.  He has held the unified IBO and WBA minimumweight titles and is also the former Unified WBA (Super), IBF, and The Ring light-flyweight champion. He defeated Jonathan Almacen to win the vacant WBC Silver light-flyweight title as well.

In his most recent fight, Budler defeated Elwin Soto via Unanimous Decision, and his next fight has not been announced yet.




5. Masamichi Yabuki

Masamichi Yabuki is a Japanese professional boxer, with a record of 13 wins and 4 losses.

He is the former WBC light flyweight champion and won the title after defeating Kenshiro Teraji last year, however, he lost the title in an immediate rematch. Yabuki is also the former Japanese light-flyweight champion.

Recently Yabuki defeated Thanongsak Simsri by TKO in the 7th round. No announcement on his next fight.




4. Sivenathi Nontshinga

  • IBF Light Flyweight Champion

Sivenathi Nontshinga is a South African professional boxer, with an undefeated record of 10-0. 

Nontshinga is the current IBF light-flyweight world champion and he won the title last weekend, after defeating Hector Flores via split decision. The fight was very close on the scorecards, however, Nontshinga landed the sole knockdown of the fight in the second round, which edged two judges in his favor. 

Nontshinga is also a former IBF international and African light-flyweight champion. There is no announcement about his next fight.




3. Jonathan González

Title(s):

  • WBO Light Flyweight Champion

Jonathan González is a  professional boxer from Puerto Rico, and he has a record of 26 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no-contest. 

He is the current  WBO light flyweight boxing champion and has held the title since October 2021. He has also held the WBO NABO light flyweight title. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Mark Anthony Barriga via Unanimous Decision, and he is scheduled to fight Shokichi Iwata on November 1st, 2022.



 

2. Hiroto Kyoguchi

Hiroto Kyoguchi is an undefeated professional boxer from Japan. He has a record of 16 wins with no losses. 

Hiroto Kyoguchi was the unified WBA (Super) and The Ring light-flyweight champion and has defended his titles four times. He is also the former IBF mini-flyweight champion.

He defended his title against Esteban Bermudez. Hiroto Kyoguchi was able to dominate the fight for the most part, especially after Bermudez got a nasty cut above his eye in the second round. Kyoguchi won the fight via TKO in the 8th round.

Kyoguchi took on Kenshiro Teraji to unify the titles but lost by knockout in the 7th round. There is no announcement about his next fight.

  • WBA Light Flyweight Champion

  • The Ring Light Flyweight Champion

More commonly known by his ring name Ken Shiro, Kenshiro Teraji has a boxing record of 20 wins and 1 loss. 

Previously, Ken Shiro was just the two-time WBC world light flyweight champion. He won the title back in 2017 and defended it 8 times, before losing it to Masamichi Yabuki. He knocked out Masamichi Yabuki in a rematch and regained the WBC light flyweight title.

Ken Shiro recently fought Hiroto Kyoguchi where he knocked him out in the 7th round of the fight. Ken Shiro is now the new unified WBC, WBA, and The Ring Light Flyweight Champion.
