The 2022 NFL Draft Class was loaded with talent spread out across the majority of the entire draft. A class that featured star defensive prospects such as Aidan Hutchinson of the Michigan Wolverines and Sauce Gardner of the Cincinnati Bearcats.

In addition to those two-star defensive standouts, the NFL Draft Class of 2022 featured a loaded offensive class at both the wide receiver and running back position.

A group that included Garret Wilson of the Ohio State Buckeyes and his former college teammate Chris Olave at the receiver position.

As all eyes were focused on who would be the standout of the 2022 NFL Draft, the class of 2022 shined from start to finish with a few of the top rookies putting together stellar performances together.

Once drafted by the New York Jets Gardner did not disappoint all season long while landing atop the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings list while Detroit Lions standout defensive end Hutchinson was a close second.

The future is bright for the entire 2022 NFL Draft class as they continue to build on to their early careers. Here is a look at the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings

Honorable Mention

Jalen Pitre

Team: Houston Texans

Position: Safety
Previous Ranking: Honorable Mention #1

Landing just outside of the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings list is the Houston Texans rookie safety from the Baylor Bears Jalen Pitre. Pitre was a tremendous talent all season while dominating on the defensive side of the ball.

Despite not making the Top 10, Pitre was well deserving after finishing the season with 147 tackles to go along with one sack, five interceptions, and eight passes defended.

Dameon Pierce

Team: Houston Texans

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: #3

Joining his rookie teammate Jalen Pitre just missing the Top NFL rookies for the 2022 NFL season is the Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce.

Pierce was a bright spot on the Texans offensive side of the ball while just missing the 1,000-yard rushing mark (939) despite missing the final few weeks of the season with a foot injury.

Pierce posted two games with at least 100 yards rushing while also posting at least 20 rushing attempts in five different games across the rookie season.

Top 10 NFL Rookies 2023 Rankings

10. Tyler Allgeier

Team: Atlanta Falcons

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: #10

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings list is the Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Tyler Allgeier.

Allgeier, who was asked to jump in as one of the main offensive weapons with the Falcons organization did not disappoint while starting his NFL career off on the right foot.

The former BYU Cougars running back would finish the season ranked 14th among all NFL running backs while finishing with 1,035 rushing yards while also averaging 4.9 rushing yards per attempt.

The Falcons running back would also finish the season with 16 catches for 139 yards with one touchdown reception.

9. James Houston

Team: Detroit Lions

Position: Linebacker
Previous Ranking: #5

While all eyes were on Aidan Hutchinson in Detroit this season, James Houston made a serious name for himself emerging as one of the best defensive players from the 2022 NFL Draft.

Houston, who played his college football for Jackson State Tigers would finish the season ranked 2nd in the NFL among defensive rookies after recording eight sacks. In addition to the eight sacks, Houston added one forced fumble and 11 defensive tackles on the season.

8. Kenny Pickett

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Position: Quarterback
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Despite lacking the top tier quarterbacks that recent NFL drafts have had, the 2022 NFL Draft delivered a few talented quarterbacks who have a potential to develop into strong quarterbacks.

One of those two quarterbacks was Kenny Pickett who the Pittsburgh Steelers elected to pick up while filling their void at the quarterback position.

While it was an up and down season for Pickett, the Steelers rookie signal quarterback finished the year with 2,404 yards passing to go along with seven touchdowns. In addition, Pickett added 237 rushing yards with three rushing touchdowns.

7. Chris Olave

Team: New Orleans Saints

Position: Wide Receiver

Another Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver to land among the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings list is Chris Olave who also put together a strong season at the wide receiver position.

6. Brock Purdy

Team: San Francisco 49ers

Position: Quarterback
Previous Ranking: Unranked

While the San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback didn’t have the luxury to play an entire season as some of the other NFL rookies landing on the list, it didn’t damage his ability to showcase how great of a player he is.

After losing the team’s initial two starting quarterbacks, Brock Purdy made his debut while playing red hot to finish the 2022 NFL season while leading the 49ers to the NFL Playoffs.

Purdy finished the 2022 NFL season appearing in nine games for the 49ers while throwing for 1,374 yards along with 13 touchdowns to just four interceptions. This includes leading the 49ers to six straight wins to end the season and two wins to open the NFL playoffs.

Team: Seattle Seahawks

Position: Cornerback
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Rounding out the top five NFL rookies on the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings list is the Seattle Seahawks rookie cornerback Tariq Woolen.

While the New York Jets had an amazing 2022 NFL draft, the Seahawks also capped off a solid draft class. With Kenneth Walker III dominating on the offensive side of the football, Woolen emerged as one of top rookie cornerbacks in the NFL alongside Sauce Gardner.

Woolen would finish the 2022 NFL season with 63 tackles to go along with an NFL leading six interceptions as well as 16 passes defended.

4. Garrett Wilson

Team: New York Jets

Position: Wide Receiver
Previous Ranking: #4

While question marks might be present at the quarterback position for the New York Jets, the wide receiver however does not have any after landing Garret Wilson.

Wilson, who the Jets drafted with the 10th overall NFL pick, finished the season ranked 20th in the NFL in receptions with 83, 15th in receiving yards with 1,103, while also being just one of two NFL rookie wide receivers to top the 1,000-yard mark.

Wilson, who played his college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes posted three 100-yard games over the course of the season while catching at least six passes in seven different games as a rookie.

3. Kenneth Walker III

Team: Seattle Seahawks

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: #6

The 2022 NFL Draft class provided a nice group of running backs including Kenneth Walker III, Dameon Pierce, Breece Hall (injury), and Tyler Allgeier.

Of the bunch the Seattle Seahawks second round pick was one of two rookies to top the 1,000-yard mark while finishing the season with 1,050 total rushing yards.

Walker would finish the 2022 NFL Season off strong rushing for at least 107 yards in the team’s final three contests while finishing the regular season with five contests with at least 100 yards rushing.

2. Aidan Hutchinson

Team: Detroit Lions

Position: Defensive End
Previous Ranking: #2

If it wasn’t for Sauce Gardner, Aidan Hutchinson would have landed atop the best rookies of the 2022 NFL season list. Hutchinson, who played his college football with the Michigan Wolverines did not disappoint during his rookie season.

The Lions defensive end finished the season with 52 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions and three passes defended. His play on the defensive side of the football helped the Lions finish the season with a winning record.

1. Sauce Gardner

Team: New York Jets

Position: Cornerback
Previous Ranking: #1

In what might be the easiest decision among the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 End of Season Rankings list, Sauce Gardner takes home the honor as the best rookie from the 2022 NFL season.

The Cincinnati Bearcats cornerback arrived at the NFL level ready to play while becoming one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the NFL.

As he makes a case for overall Defensive Player of the Year, Gardner should take home the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award after his rookie performance.

Gardner led the NFL in passes defended (20) while allowing just one touchdown pass over the course of the 17 game NFL season. In addition, Gardner posted 75 total tackles to go along with two interceptions.
