The slow march to the 2022 NFL Schedule continues as the calendar rolls into Mid-August with NFL preseason football games at the front of the sports landscape.

With this time of the year the NFL hype is at a peak as fans, and NFL experts get excited for the upcoming schedule while expectations are set high for several of the Top NFL teams around the league.

This includes the 10 teams landing on our Top 10 NFL Teams Preview Rankings 2022 list.

 

A list that features some of the league’s best teams including a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that many had nearly written off after the retirement of Tom Brady.

That all changed when the future Hall of Famer decided to return for another chance at a run at another Super Bowl title.

In addition to the Buccaneers some of the other Top NFL teams expecting to make a run during the 2022 NFL season include the defending Super Bowl Champions the Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Green Bay packers. 

Here is a look at our Top 10 NFL Team 2022 August Rankings.

Honorable Mention

Pittsburgh Steelers

Landing in just outside of the Top 10 NFL Teams Preview Rankings 2022 is the Pittsburgh Steelers led by Mike Tomlin.

One thing we have learned year in, and year out is that the Steelers are going to be a competitive team as long as Tomlin is the head coach.

Since taking over in 2007, the Steelers have not had a losing record with Tomlin while winning seven AFC North titles, winning three AFC Championships, and a Super Bowl.

Only concern entering the 2022 NFL season is what type of play the team will get at the quarterback position with Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph or Kenny Pickett taking over as starting quarterback.

San Francisco 49ers

The success of the San Francisco 49ers will revolve around the arm of second year quarterback Trey Lance.

Lance is set to take over full-time quarterback duties for a 49ers team loaded with offensive talent including All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel and All-Pro tight end George Kittle to go along with second year running back Elijah Mitchell.

On the defensive side the 49ers stack up well against nearly any team within the NFL.

10. Arizona Cardinals

Heading into the 2022 NFL schedule, the Arizona Cardinals are one a three teams within the NFC West that has a legitimate shot at winning the division.

Led by stud quarterback Kyler Murray, the Cardinals offense is solid when the former Heisman Trophy winner is on the field and under center.

Despite losing DeAndre Hopkins to start the season, the team was able to add speedy wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to the receiver group. Look for the Cardinals to make a run during the 2022 NFL season.

9. Los Angeles Chargers

It is hard not to like the Los Angeles Chargers as one of the ten teams to land on the Top 10 NFL Teams Preview Rankings 2022 list.

The Chargers offense is as good as any team in the NFL after ranking 4th in the NFL in yards per game (390.2 ypg), tied for 2nd in passing yards per game (282.4), and 5th in points per game (27.9 ppg).

After bolstering the offensive line last off-season, the team focused on bolstering their defensive adding Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson. The Chargers may have the fire power to compete for the top spot in the loaded AFC West Division.

8. Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are that one team that has the depth and talent to compete for the next few years while having quarterback Patrick Mahomes under center.

However, concerns over depth at the wide receiver position after the off-season trade of Tyreek Hill may limit the team’s offensive play calling.

Nonetheless, Andy Reid and Mahomes will have some tricks up their sleeve to make another deep run in 2022.

However, the task may be difficult as both the Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders have improved their roster as well as the Denver Broncos.

7. Baltimore Ravens

No team in the NFL was beat up by injuries more than the Baltimore Ravens were during the 2021 NFL season.

Despite that the Ravens led by John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson were at the top of the AFC till Jackson went down with an injury that forced him to miss the end of the season.

Now the team will have a healthy Jackson back under center while stars such as Marcus Peters, Marlon Humphrey, J.K. Dobbins, Ronnie Stanley, and Gus Edwards return from season ending injuries.  

6. Green Bay Packers

The 2022 NFL schedule will present the Green Bay Packers a new challenge, one that they have not had to worry about since the 2014 NFL Draft.

That challenge is finding a new playmaker for Aaron Rodgers to match up with on a week-to-week basis after trading Davante Adams who the team drafted during the second round of that draft.

Nonetheless, the Packers have a solid roster on both sides of the ball including Rodgers, running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon as well as stud strong safety Adrian Amos.

Add in the struggles of the other teams in the NFC North, the Packers should be fighting for another playoff spot during the 2022 NFL schedule.

5. Cincinnati Bengals

After fighting till the end during Super Bowl LVI, the Cincinnati Bengals are a team to watch heading into the 2022 NFL season while landing at number five on the Top 10 NFL Teams Preview Rankings 2022 list.

The Bengals who are loaded with talent including having one of the top offenses in the NFL led by third year quarterback Joe Burrow and second year wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

One thing holding back the Bengals was the offensive line that allowed Burrow to get hit at a lot was addressed this off-season by adding Ted Karras, Alex Cappa and La’el Collins.

With additional protection, the Bengals offense may be nearly unstoppable if Burrow returns to the success of 2021.

4. Las Vegas Raiders

The 2021 NFL season may be the year the Las Vegas Raiders jump the hurdle and take home the AFC West division despite competing against three very good teams.

The Raiders made one if not the biggest splash this offseason adding All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to their receiving corps while handing Derek Carr his former college wide receiver.

Adams will make the Raiders offense one of the top in the NFL while opening holes for other wide receiver Hunter Renfroe. Meanwhile the team also added Chandler Jones to the defensive to pair alongside Maxx Crosby.

3. Los Angeles Rams

One team that has gone all in over the past few seasons was the Los Angeles Rams and it paid off with their Super Bowl LVI win.

Despite losing several key members of their 2021 NFL roster including Von Miller, Robert Woods, Andrew Whitworth and Odell Beckham Jr, the Rams are still talented enough to compete in 2022.

The team added Allen Robinson to pair alongside Cooper Kupp while also bringing in stud linebacker Bobby Wagner to bolster the defense. The team’s success will ultimately revolve around the health of quarterback Matthew Stafford. 

2. Buffalo Bills

As far as the top two teams on the Top 10 NFL Teams Preview Rankings 2022 list, both make a serious case for the number one overall spot.

However, only one team can take home that honor while the other slots in at number two with the Buffalo Bills being that team.

The Bills are loaded with playmakers including quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs who helped the team take home the AFC East conference in 2021.

The Bills loaded up on the defensive side of the ball adding Von Miller, Shaq Lawson, DaQuan Jones and Tim Settle. Can the 2022 NFL season be the years get over the Super Bowl hump?

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Landing at number one on the Top 10 NFL Teams Preview Rankings 2022 list is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A team that might have slid off this list had Tom Brady not decided to return to play during the upcoming 2022 NFL schedule.

That is in the past as Brady is back and as long as the GOAT is playing quarterback, the Buccaneers have a true shot at winning another Super Bowl title.

While the team awaits Chris Godwin’s return from an ACL injury suffered last season, the team added a pair of veteran receiver options for Brady including Kyle Rudolph and Julio Jones.
