Top 10 NFL Rookies 2023 Rankings

10. Tyler Allgeier

Team: Atlanta Falcons

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: #9

Landing at number 10 on the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 rankings December list is the Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Tyler Allgeier.

Allgeier was thrusted into action as a rookie after the team suffered an injury to stud playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson, and has found a nice groove over the past few weeks.

That groove includes turning in his best performance of the 2022 NFL season, running for 139 yards on 17 carries to go along with one touchdown run. Overall Allgeier has 743 yards on the ground to go with two rushing touchdowns on 148 total carries.

9. George Pickens

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Position: Wide Receiver
Previous Ranking: Honorable Mentions #1

If you are looking for a team that drafts well at one specific position then look no further than the Pittsburgh Steelers with the wide receiver position.

The Steelers have had a knack for drafting top tier wide receivers and the team’s 2nd round pick during the 2022 NFL Draft from the Georgia Bulldogs looks to be another one of those receivers.

That receiver is George Pickens who enters week 16 ranked among the top of the wide receiver group of NFL rookies. The former Bulldogs receiver has 42 catches on the year for 643 yards and two touchdown receptions.

8. Christian Watson

Team: Green Bay Packers

Position: Wide Receiver
Previous Ranking: Unranked

After a slow start to his rookie season, the Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver has been red hot down the stretch while becoming one of the main targets of Aaron Rodgers.

Over his last five games Watson has racked up 19 total catches for 359 yards to go along with seven touchdown catches.

In addition to being a key part of the passing attack, the former North Dakota State wide receiver has also added two rushing touchdowns this season including a 46-yard rushing touchdown in the teams 28-19 win over the Chicago Bears.

7. Chris Olave

One of those receivers is the Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Chris Olave who has racked up the second most receptions (63) and second most receiving yards (940) among the entire NFL draft class.

However, all of this success has come with a revolving door at the quarterback position after losing Jameis Winston early to an injury and multiple rotations between Andy Dalton and Taysom Hill at quarterback.

6. Kenneth Walker III

Team: Seattle Seahawks

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: #4

One of the most surprising running backs entering Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season is the Seattle Seahawks rookie Kenneth Walker III.

However due to injuries, Walker III was slotted in and has not looked back racking up 696 yards on 150 total carries while finding the endzone on nine rushing touchdowns.

Walker III currently ranks 3rd among rookie running backs in rushing yards and 1st in rushing touchdowns.

5. James Houston

Team: Detroit Lions

Position: Linebacker
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Rounding out the Top 5 rookies on the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 rankings December list is the Detroit Lions rookie linebacker James Houston.

As the future looks bright for the Lions, the play of their rookie defensive players has the team's defense playing at a high level.

While Aidan Hutchinson is the standout player drafted during the 2022 NFL Draft, James Houston has been a bright spot for the Lions. Houston, who played at Jackson State enters week 16 ranked 2nd among the rookie class with five sacks.

Despite ranking 5th, Houston has appeared in just the team’s last four games making it even more impressive of a performance this season.

4. Garrett Wilson

Team: New York Jets

Position: Wide Receiver
Previous Ranking: #8

As his former Ohio State Buckeyes teammate lands on the list of the top rookie wide receivers and top overall rookies in the NFL, Garrett Wilson also joins the list at number four.

Wilson, who has received passes from Mike White, Zach Wilson and Joe Flacco continues to be a popular target no matter who the quarterback is.

Wilson enters Week 16 ranked 22nd in the NFL among all receivers with 67 receptions, 11th in receiving yards with 966 and 34th in touchdown receptions with four. Among the 2022 NFL rookie receiving corps, Wilson ranks 1st in both yards and receptions.

3. Dameon Pierce

Team: Houston Texans

Position: Running Back
Previous Ranking: #1

While his production has slowed down over the past four games, Dameon Pierce has been one of the brightest picks from the 2022 NFL Draft Class.

As the former Florida Gators star sees his season come to an end due to an injury, Pierce has a lot to be proud about including racking up 939-yard on the year to go along with four rushing touchdowns. The future looks bright for the Texans at the running back position as Pierce looks to return from an ankle injury next season.

2. Aidan Hutchinson

Team: Detroit Lions

Position: Defensive End
Previous Ranking: #6

When it comes to the top two players on the Top 10 NFL Rookies 2022 rankings December list both come from the defensive side of the ball while putting together impressive rookie seasons.

Nonetheless the Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson lands at number two after putting together an impressive rookie stat sheet.

The former Michigan Wolverines star currently leads all rookies with seven sacks while also recovering one fumble, intercepting two passes, and posting two passes defended.

1. Sauce Gardner

After being drafted by the Jets with the 4th overall pick, Sauce Gardner has not disappointed during his rookie season while showcasing his ability to be a shutdown cornerback.

The former Cincinnati Bearcats cornerback has racked up 48 tackles to go along with two interceptions while recording 16 passes defended.
