Top 10 Best NFL Players Right Now Preview 2023

The history of the NFL continues to build each season with new stars emerging each NFL season while returning stars continue to build Hall of Fame Careers. As you start to look around at the talent on NFL rosters, the league is as loaded as ever while featuring playmakers all over the field including on both the offensive and defensive sides of the football. Headlining the Top 10 Best NFL Players Preview 2023-24 rankings list is the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

However, Mahomes is just one of a long list of great football players in the NFL. Mahomes enters the 2023 NFL season looking to return to the Chiefs to another Super Bowl Championship, while coming off his second NFL MVP season and leading the NFL in passing yards with 5,250. Here is a look at the Top 10 Best NFL Players Preview 2023-2024

Honorable Mention

Tyreek Hill

Team: Miami Dolphins

Position: Wide Receiver

Landing just outside of the Top 10 Best NFL Players Preview 2023-2024 is the Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Hill is coming off another big time season in 2022, while finishing second in the NFL with 1,710 receiving yards.

The Dolphins wide receiver remains one of the fastest players in the NFL while making it nearly impossible for opposing cornerbacks to slow him down. Entering 2023, Hill has posted three straight seasons of at least 1,239 receiving yards while also adding at least seven touchdowns in each season.

Haason Reddick

Team: Philadelphia Eagles

Position: Linebacker

In the modern game of football in the NFL, slowing down the playmaking abilities of a long list of talented quarterbacks is a hot commodity. One NFL player who can not only make a ton of plays on the defensive side of the football but also sack them is the Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick.

Reddick, who will be in his second season with the team, has posted 39.5 sacks over the past three seasons including a career high 16 sacks last season.

In addition, Reddick has the knack for making big plays including forcing five fumbles last season and at least five in two of the past three seasons. Reddick is a key staple among an Eagles team looking to take home the Super Bowl trophy during the 2023 NFL schedule.

Top 10 Best NFL Players

10. Lamar Jackson

Team: Baltimore Ravens

Position: Quarterback

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 Best NFL Players Preview 2023-2024 is the Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson continues to be one of the biggest playmakers on the football field at any moment.

While injuries have slowed him down in each of the past two seasons, it is hard not to put him on the list based on his ability to make a big play on any offensive snap.

Add in the addition of Odell Beckham Jr, Zay Flowers, and Nelson Agholor along with Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, it is hard not to like the potential success Jackson will have during the upcoming NFL season.

9. Justin Herbert

Team: Los Angeles Chargers

Position: Quarterback

The NFL has a solid list of quarterbacks among the Top 10 Quarterbacks list, a list that features names such as Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes as well as Justin Herbert. Herbert, who is the youngest of those players, is one quarterback that continues to showcase his potential since arriving back during the 2020 NFL season.

Since arriving in the NFL Herbert has thrown for at least 4,336 yards in each season including 4,739 yards last season while also throwing for at least 25 touchdowns in each season.

While the team was hampered by injuries to star wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Herbert still found ways to put together a big season while leading the team to the postseason.

8. Justin Jefferson

Team: Minnesota Vikings

Position: Wide Receiver

Another playmaker at wide receiver who has the ability to change the outcome of the game on any play is the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Jefferson is coming off a league leading 1,809 yards last season while finding ways to make plays against nearly any team in the NFL as well as nearly every cornerback/safety that lined up against him.

The Vikings wide receiver has posted at least 1,400 yards in each of his first three seasons in the NFL while also adding at least seven touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. Jefferson should continue to post big time numbers during the 2023 NFL season while slowly inching towards a new long term NFL contract.

7. Sauce Gardner

Team: New York Jets

Position: Cornerback

Entering the 2022 NFL Season Sauce Gardner was a name that was known by college football fans but not as much by NFL fans. However, Gardner put that to bed early on during the season while showcasing his play making abilities from the start of the season.

The former Cincinnati Bearcats cornerback ranked among the best cornerbacks in the NFL while using his ability to shut down receivers at the line of scrimmage. Gardner finished the 2022 NFL season leading the league with 20 passes defended while taking home the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

The New York Jets cornerback is now one of the most recognized cornerbacks in the NFL and his success will be key to the Jets playoff run in 2023.

6. Josh Allen

Team: Buffalo Bills

Position: Quarterback

When teams look for a true leader, it is hard to find all the tangibles needed but one player who does feature them is Josh Allen. Allen is a playmaker on the field who not only finds ways to lift up the players around him but also can take responsibility for the team’s struggles.

The Bills quarterback is one of the top all around players in the NFL while using his ability to make plays both in the passing game as well as on the ground with his ability to run the football.

Allen is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,283 yards to go along with 35 touchdowns while also adding 762 yards on the ground and seven rushing touchdowns. The veteran quarterback has the ability to turn a busted play into a first down makes him a dangerous weapon opposing defenses struggle to stop.

5. Joe Burrow

Team: Cincinnati Bengals

Position: Quarterback

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 Best NFL Players Preview 2023-2024 is the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. How can the Bengals quarterback not land among the best players in the NFL after leading the Bengals to back to back AFC North Division Championships, and an AFC Championship all within his first three seasons in the NFL.

In each of the past two seasons while appearing in 16 games, Burrow has thrown for at least 4,475 yards while also throwing for at least 34 touchdowns in each season. When healthy, it is hard to slow down Burrow who has one of the best trio of receivers in all the NFL.

4. Nick Bosa

Team: San Francisco 49ers

Position: Defensive End

As the offensive side of the ball receives much of the love among NFL fans, the defensive side of the ball is just as important if not more important. With NFL offenses exploding with yards and scoring continuing to rise, the importance of slowing down the long list of talented quarterbacks is key for opposing defenses.

One player that has the ability is the San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa who is coming off leading the NFL with a career high 18.5 sacks last season. Bosa is a versatile player who can stop the run but also get to the quarterback on nearly every passing play.

3. Davante Adams

Team: Las Vegas Raiders

Position: Wide Receiver

While it is easy to debate over which of the wide receivers is the best in the NFL, it is hard not to put Davante Adams among the best if not the best receiver in the NFL.

The former Green Bay Packers wide receiver found a way to adapt to change after losing starting quarterback Derek Carr last season while continuing to be a mismatch for cornerbacks in the NFL. Adams lacks the blazing speed of the other top wide receivers but his ability to run routes and secure the football makes him a dangerous weapon.

The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver finished the season leading all receivers with 14 touchdowns while ranking 3rd with 1,516 receiving yards.

2. T.J. Watt

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Position: Linebacker

Another defensive star that is nearly impossible for any offensive line in the NFL to slow down is the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt. After battling injuries last season, Watt is healthy entering the 2023 NFL season while looking to return to his performance level from the 2021 NFL season.

A season in which Watt posted a season high 22.5 sacks while also forcing five fumbles, seven passes defended and 11 stuffs. Watt has the ability and speed to take down any quarterback while playing in a division that features a trio of stud quarterbacks (Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson). Watt has posted at least 13 sacks in four of the last five seasons.

1. Patrick Mahomes

Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Position: Quarterback

In the end Patrick Mahomes continues to enter each NFL season ranked among the best players in the NFL as well as the best quarterback in the league. As Mahomes builds an NFL resume to compete amongst the greatest quarterbacks of All-Time, his legacy is still just beginning while coming off his second NFL MVP season and one of his second Super Bowl titles.

Mahomes, who is coming off leading the NFL with 5,250 yards topped the 5,000 yard mark for the second time in his NFL career while also being the only quarterback last season to accomplish the feat.

Since taking over in 2018, Mahomes has thrown for no fewer than 4,031 yards in a season while reaching at least 37 touchdown passes in four of those five NFL seasons. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s ability to make a throw on the run, in the pocket or make a defender miss makes him nearly impossible to game for.
