Ranking the best WNBA Players for this upcoming 2023 WNBA Season

The landscape of women’s basketball continues to evolve as the talent of play continues to produce great players each year.
This is the case for the WNBA as the game is loaded with a long list of talented basketball players each warranting a spot among the Top 10 WNBA Player Predictions 2023 rankings list.
One of those top WNBA players is the Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson who is coming off her second WNBA MVP Award over the past three seasons.
As Wilson looks to add some additional hardware to her awards list, she will also look to lead the Aces to a second straight WNBA Championship.
Joining Wilson on the list includes Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty, Kelsey Plum of the Las Vegas Aces, Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings, and Nneka Ogwumike of the Los Angeles Sparks.
Each of these top WNBA stars will look to lead their teams to a WNBA Championship during the 2023 WNBA season. Here is a look at the Top 10 WNBA Player Predictions 2023 rankings list.

Aliyah Boston
Team: Indiana Fever
Landing just outside of the top 10 on the Top 10 WNBA Player Predictions 2023 rankings list is the 2023 WNBA Draft first overall pick Aliyah Boston.
While the WNBA is loaded with stars Boston is set to become a fresh young face of the league while bringing her strong work ethic, determination, and leadership to the Indiana Fever.
Boston who nearly led the South Carolina Gamecocks to their second straight undefeated season and NCAA Championship. Boston is solid all over the floor while giving the Fiverr a proven winner to build around.
Diamond Miller
Team: Minnesota Lynx
A second 2023 WNBA rookie joining Aliyah Boston on the list of the best players in the WNBA is the former Maryland Terps star Diamond Miller.
Miller who was selected with the second overall pick during the 2023 WNBA Draft was as talented as any player in the draft while having a huge upside the Minnesota Lynx can build around.
The former Terps star brings solid size and awareness to the team while also having the abilities to rank among the best players in the WNBA next season.

10. Jonquel Jones
Team: New York Liberty
Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 WNBA Player Predictions 2023 rankings list is another newly acquired member of the New York Liberty.
That player is Jonquel Jones who joined the Liberty during the WNBA off-season while giving the team another big-time threat on both ends of the floor.
The six-year WNBA veteran brings leadership and a player that can do a little bit of everything including playing strong defensively.
Jones is coming off a regular season in which she averaged 14.6 points per game to go along with 8.6 rebounds, 1.2 blocked shots, 1.1 steals, and 1.8 assists per game.
The Liberty forward is coming off her second straight selection to the WNBA All-Star game and fourth overall during her career.
9. Candace Parker
Team: Las Vegas Aces
Candace Parker joins teammates Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson among the list of the best WNBA players in 2023. Despite being a veteran and 36 years old, Parker enters the season coming off another strong season while averaging 13.2 points per game and 8.6 rebounds.
In addition, Parker can handle the basketball while also having great court vision while finding ways to get her teammates involved.
Parker who spent last year with the Chicago Sky has averaged at least 13 points per game in 14 of her 15 WNBA Seasons while also adding at least eight rebounds in 12 of those seasons. The aging veteran brings her talent and leadership abilities to an Aces team looking to repeat in 2023.
8. Kelsey Mitchell
Team: Indiana Fever
No matter where you look around the game of basketball stars will be found within the WNBA. One of those stars is Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever who will look to add to her 18.4 points per game mark from last season.
While Mitchell has posted at least 17.8 points per game in three straight seasons, the additions during the offseason including adding top rookie Aliyah Boston should open up additional scoring opportunities for Mitchell.
The former Ohio State Buckeyes star shot 43.8 percent from the field last season while shooting a career high 40.9 percent from behind the three-point line.
7. Rhyne Howard
Team: Atlanta Dream
One of the youngest players landing on the list of the top WNBA players is the second-year star for the Atlanta Dream Rhyne Howard.
Howard was a prime time scoring threat for the Kentucky Wildcats before being selected by the Dream during the 2022 WNBA Draft with the first overall selection.
The former Wildcats star didn’t disappoint, averaging 16.2 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Her play on the floor led her to her first selection on the WNBA All-Star team as well as taking home the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Howard is as good as any guard in the WNBA which will show up during the upcoming 2023 season.
6. Sabrina Ionescu
Team: New York Liberty
Another New York Liberty star to land on the list is the former Oregon Ducks guard Sabrina Ionescu. Ionescu, who started off her career slowly put together a strong third season in the WNBA last season.
Over 36 games played last season the Liberty star averaged 17.4 points per game to go along with 6.3 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Ionescu should have a ton of chances to build on her success last season during the upcoming season with the addition of stars Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones.
5. Nneka Ogwumike
Team: Los Angeles Sparks
Rounding out the top five on the Top 10 WNBA Player Predictions 2023 rankings list is the Los Angeles Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike. The 11-year veteran continues to rank among the best players in the WNBA year in and year out.
Over her 11-year career the longtime Sparks star has averaged at least 15 points in seven different seasons including an 18.1 points per game last season.
While expectations are high for the Sparks in 2023, Ogwumike will have even higher expectations as she looks to help lead the Sparks to another WNBA Championship.
4. Arike Ogunbowale
Team: Dallas Wings
Since being drafted and selected by the Dallas Wings with the 5th overall pick during the 2019 WNBA Draft, Arike Ogunbowale has ranked among the league's top scorers.
The Wings guard is aggressive with the ball in her hands while being a solid shooter from the field connecting on 35.2 percent of her three-point attempts and 40.0 from the field.
As the Wings have had a busy off-season Ogunbowale continues to be the team's leader and key threat to put together another big season during the 2023 WNBA Season. In each of her first four seasons Ogunbowale has averaged at least 18.7 points per game.
3. Kelsey Plum
Team: Las Vegas Aces
One player coming off a huge 2022 WNBA Season is the Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum. Plum, who played her college basketball with the Washington Huskies came into the zone last season while playing a key role in the Aces success en route to the WNBA Championship.
Plum is coming off a career high 20.2 points per game average last season while averaging 5.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Her play on the floor landed her the first WNBA All-Star selection of her career as well as a spot on the All-WNBA First team. The Aces with Plum at the guard position are the team to still beat in the WNBA.
2. Breanna Stewart
Team: New York Liberty
When it comes to the top two players in the WNBA each are well deserving of the top overall spot, however only one can. That said, the newly acquired New York Liberty Breanna Stewart who played her first six seasons of her WNBA career with the Seattle Storm.
Stewart is a tremendous scorer averaging at least 18 points per game in each of her six seasons in the WNBA including 21.8 points per game last season.
In addition to being a solid scoring threat, Stewart is strong on the glass while coming off averaging nearly eight rebounds (7.6 rpg) during the 2023 WNBA schedule.
1. A’ja Wilson
Team: Las Vegas Aces
In at number one on the Top 10 WNBA Player Predictions 2023 rankings list is the Las Vegas Aces forward and two-time league MVP. A’ja Wilson.
Wilson who was drafted by the Aces during the 2018 NBA Draft has lived up to her potential winning two MVP’s, a Defensive Player of the Year Award, made four WNBA All-Star Teams, helped lead the Aces to the Championship and was the WNBA Rookie of the Year.
The Aces star is averaging 19.5 points per game to go along with 9.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocked shots, and 1.4 steals per game. It is hard to look past Wilson as the frontrunner to repeat as the league MVP in 2023.
