he 2023 WNBA Season has come to a close as the WNBA Playoffs get set to tip off. As the eight WNBA teams get prepared for the upcoming playoffs as well as the WNBA players set to suit up, the perfect opportunity to take a look at the Top 10 Best WNBA Players 2023 Rankings list has arrived.
As you start to look at the best women’s basketball players in the WNBA the list of the talent stars is long while many are well deserving of a mention among the best the league has to offer. Headlining the list of the top WNBA players from the 2023 WNBA schedule is the New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart.
Breanna Stewart MVP?
Stewart, who is coming off her first season with the Liberty after electing to sign with the team during the WNBA off-season. The moved paid off for the former UConn Huskies star as she finished the season averaging 23 points while helping the Liberty to the second best record in the league. As Stewart recently took home the AP WNBA Player of the Year Award, the Liberty star is just one of many talented players the league has to offer. Joining Stewart among the 10 Best WNBA Players in 2023 is the Las Vegas Aces A’ja Wilson, Jewell Loyd of the Seattle Strom, Alyssa Thomas of the Connecticut Sun, and Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx.

Brittney Griner

ust missing the Top 10 WNBA Players 2023 rankings list is the Phoenix Mercury All-Star center Britney Griner.
After missing all of the 2022 WNBA season, Griner returned to rank among the top centers in the WNBA while returning to her old form.
The Mercury veteran center finished the year appearing in 31 games for the team while averaging 17.5 points per game to go along with 6.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Meanwhile on the defensive end of the floor Griner continued to create havoc while averaging 1.6 blocked shots per game.
Aliyah Boston
Team: Indiana Fever

Landing just outside of the ten best women’s basketball players list is the former South Carolina Gamecocks star Aliyah Boston.
Boston put together one of the best rookie seasons in the history of the league while ranking among the best rookies all season. The Indiana Fever forward finished off her rookie season averaging 14.5 points per game while also adding 8.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
On the defensive end of the floor Boston posted 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocked shots while being a plus defender. The future looks bright for the young WNBA forward while emerging as a fresh young face of the league for WNBA seasons to come.

10. Nneka Ogwumike
Team: Los Angeles Sparks
Previous Ranking: Honorable Mention
Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 WNBA Players 2023 rankings list is the Los Angeles Sparks forward and former first overall pick during the 2012 WNBA Draft Nneka Ogwumike.
Ogwumike is coming off her 12th season with the Sparks while being a household name within the organization. Despite being one of the aging veterans within the league the former Stanford Cardinal forward is coming off finishing the season ranked sixth among all scorers while posting 19.1 points per game.
In addition, Ogwumike was also dominate on the glass while finishing the season averaging 8.8 rebounds while also playing solid defense.
9. Kelsey Plum
Team: Las Vegas Aces

One of three Las Vegas Aces stars to land among the best WNBA players rankings list from the 2023 WNBA season is Kelsey Plum.
As the Aces look ahead at a chance to take home their second WNBA Championship, Plum continues to be a viable weapon on the roster while posting at least 18 points in each of the past two seasons.
Since arriving within the WNBA back during the 2017 WNBA season, Plus has posted at least three assists per game in each season.
During the 2023 regular season, the Aces guard averaged 4.5 assists to go along with 18.7 points per game, 1.1 steals, and 2.4 rebounds per game.
8. Arike Ogunbowale
Team: Dallas Wings
Previous Ranking: 4
Since arriving in the WNBA in 2019 after being selected 5th overall by the Dallas Wings, Arike Ogunbowale has been one of the top scorers in the league.
Over her first four seasons the Wings point guard has averaged no fewer than 18.7 points per game. That success has continued during the 2023 WNBA season as Ogunbowale is averaging a career high 23.3 points per game over the Wings first 12 games this season.
In addition, the talented point guard is averaging 4.2 assists per game and 3.2 rebounds. On the defensive end of the floor Ogunbowale continues to be a difficult defender for opposing guards while also averaging 1.5 steals per game.
7. Chelsea Gray
Team: Las Vegas Aces

After taking home the best record in the WNBA it is easy to understand and see why multiple Las Vegas Aces landed among the best players in the WNBA.
One of those players is the former Duke Blue Devils guard Chelsea Gray who was a key contributor to the Aces success this season as well as last season.
While Gray managed to post a career high 15.3 points per game this season, the talented guard leadership and ability to find the open shooter adds additional value while helping to run the Aces offense.
To go along with the scoring, Gray added a career high 7.3 assists during the WNBA regular season while also adding 1.4 steals and four rebounds per game.
6. Satou Sabally
Team: Dallas Wings
Previous Ranking: 3
It is hard to look past the success Satou Sabally of the Dallas Wings had during the 2023 WNBA Season. Coming off averaging back to back seasons of less than 12 points per game, the former Oregon Ducks and current Wings forward set a career high in scoring while averaging 18.6 points per game.
Sabally finished off the season strong scoring at least 21 points in four of her final five games including a 40 point and seven rebound performance against the Indiana Fever on September 1st, 2023. Overall Sabally posted 16 games with at least 20 points this season.
5. Napheesa Collier
Team: Minnesota Lynx
Previous Ranking: 10
Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 WNBA Players 2023 rankings is the Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier. Collier who was the sixth overall pick during the 2019 WNBA Draft is another well rounded player who adds a ton of value to her team and teammates.
After appearing in only four games after having her daughter last season, Collier returned to the court this season and picked up right where she left off.
The former UConn Huskies forward put together the best season of her WNBA career averaging 21.5 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 blocked shots, and 1.6 steals per game. The future looks bright in Minnesota with Collier playing alongside rookie Diamond Miller.
4. Alyssa Thomas
Team: Connecticut Sun
Previous Ranking: 5
Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 WNBA Players 2023 rankings list is the Connecticut Sun power forward Alyssa Thomas. Thomas, who made her third WNBA All-Star team last season has gotten off to another strong start during the 2023 WNBA Season.
In 13 games played this season, Thomas is averaging 14.8 points per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field. Even more impressive has been Wilson’s ability to rank among the leaders in both assists with eight per game and rebounds while adding 10.5 rebounds. Thomas currently ranks 2nd in assists and 2nd in rebounds across her first 13 games played this season.
3. Jewell Lloyd
Team: Seattle Storm

In at number one on the Top 10 WNBA Players 2023 rankings list is the Seattle Storm guard Jewell Lloyd. Lloyd has been nearly unstoppable all season long while leading the league in scoring while averaging 26.2 points per game.
The veteran guard has been brilliant for the Storm while taking control of the team’s scoring offense. In addition to scoring for the Storm this season, Lloyd has averaged 3.7 assists per game to go along with four rebounds while shooting 39.6 percent from behind the three-point line.
2. A’ja Wilson
Team: Las Vegas Aces
Previous Ranking: 6
Coming off winning her second WNBA MVP Award last season the Las Vegas Aces forward is in the running to take home her third MVP award over the past four seasons.
Like Stewart, A’ja Wilson put together a loaded stat sheet while helping to lead the Aces to the best record in the WNBA as well as the number one seed entering the 2023 WNBA Playoffs.
Wilson finished the season setting career highs in scoring averaging 22.8 points per game and rebounds averaging 9.5 per contests. The former South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball player also ranks among the league’s best defenders consistently racking up just over two (2.2) blocked shots per game and 1.4 steals.
1. Breanna Stewart
Team: New York Liberty

In at number one on the Top 10 WNBA Players 2023 rankings list is the New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart. Stewart who is a favorite to take home the 2023 WNBA MVP Award, has secured the AP WNBA Player of the Year Award after a stellar performance in her first season in New York
Stewart finished the season averaging 23.0 points per game to go along with 9.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. The former UConn Huskies star ranked second among all WNBA players in scoring, third in rebounds, and third among all forwards in assists.
Furthermore, Stewart was strong on the defensive end of the floor averaging 1.5 steals and 1.6 blocked shots per game while leading her team to the second seed.
