Previous Ranking: 4

Always a postseason threat, the Houston Astros were once again a force in the American League, finishing with a strong 87-75 record.

Just missing out on the top 10, the Astros stayed in the thick of the playoff picture behind their signature blend of timely offense and an evolving pitching staff. Led by an offense that featured four players with at least 20 home runs including Jose Altuve and Christian Walker, the Astros found ways to move forward after seeing All-Star Yordan Alvarez miss most of the season.

Despite having just two starting pitchers make at least 20 plus starts, the Astros yielded the 11th lowest earned run average in baseball (3.86) helping them stay alive all season. With a reputation for postseason magic, it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see Houston back in the playoffs and ranking near the top of all MLB teams.

The 2025 MLB season was no different as the Yankees fought to the final days of the season before finishing second in the American League East after tying the Toronto Blue Jays with an impressive 94-68 record.
