Soto who started his career in the National League made the transition back from his one season in the American League seamless. The Mets right fielder ranked among the top 10 in home runs (43), runs batted in (105), OPS (.921), and On Base Percentage (.396).

His patience at the plate and ability to carry a lineup during cold stretches proved critical for the Mets. Soto also showcased his ability to make opposing pitchers work racking up an MLB best 127 walks over 160 games played during the season.

George Springer

Team: Toronto Blue Jays

A name that continues to cement himself among the greatest MLB playoff players of all time is George Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The magic he delivered in his time with the Houston Astros to his historic postseason performance for the Toronto Blue Jays. Springer capped off his fifth season with the Blue Jays posting the second highest On Base Percentage mark in baseball (.399) trailing just AL MVP Aaron Judge.

In addition the talented right fielder posted a .309 batting average to go along with 32 home runs, 27 doubles, and 84 runs batted in during the season. Springer’s ability to deliver in high-leverage situations makes him invaluable, especially for a young Blue Jays roster.

As a team loaded with stars like any other playoff caliber team, one name that closes out the Top 10 Best MLB Players 2025 rankings list is the team’s closer Andres Munoz. Munoz capped off his best season in the majors while taking over full time closer for the Mariners. The 26 year old right hander posted a strong 1.73 earned run average over 62.1 innings of work while striking out 83 total batters and posting a career high 38 saves.

Seattle relied on his lockdown ability to turn ninth-inning leads into wins throughout the season, a big factor in their playoff berth.

9. Bobby Witt Jr

Team: Kansas City Royals

Position: Shortstop
Previous Ranking: 5th

Another young face of Major League Baseball, Bobby Witt Jr. has emerged as one of MLB’s premier five-tool players while being just 25 years old.

The Kansas City Royals shortstop capped off another strong season taking home a long list of accolades for the second straight season including the Silver Slugger Award, Gold Glove Award, All-MLB First Team selection as well as his first Platinum Glove Award. While his power numbers declined, Witt still provided value among the best in the game all season.

Overall Witt finished the season with 47 doubles, 99 runs scored, 23 home runs, 88 runs batted in, while also posting his fourth straight season with at least 30 stolen bases (38). Witt Jr.’s all-around play set a new standard for shortstop production.

8. Jose Ramirez

Team: Cleveland Guardians

Position: Third Baseman

Jose Ramirez delivered another big season for the Cleveland Guardians displaying a strong blend of power, speed, and defense.

The 33 year old third baseman posted his second straight 30 home run (30) and 40 stolen base (44) season of his career. In addition the long time Guardian finished with 103 runs scored, 34 doubles, and 85 runs batted in over 158 games played. He was a stabilizing force for Cleveland, anchoring the lineup while providing Gold Glove-caliber defense at third.

Ramirez’s relentless consistency and clutch performance in September’s AL Central title chase elevated him to elite status once again.

7. Yoshinobu Yamamoto

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

It is hard to look past the list of the best players in baseball including starting pitchers and look past Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Yamamoto, who entered his second season in Major League Baseball since joining the league last season after spending time in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league. The talented starter didn’t disappoint posting a 12-8 overall record during the regular season with a 2.49 earned run average, .99 Whip mark while striking out 201 batters. In addition, Yamamoto put together one of the greatest postseason performances of any player in postseason history.

The Dodgers starter finished the post season with a 5-1 record, 1.45 earned run average, .78 WHIP while going 3-0 in the World Series. The 27 year old starter ceiling is as high as any player in baseball and that was on full display with his strong 2025 MLB season performance.

6. Kyle Schwarber

A name that has been as consistent as any in the batting statistics leader board each season is the Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber finished off his fifth straight season with at least 30 plus home runs (56) while also adding his third straight straight season driving in at least 100 runs (132). The veteran outfield finished off the season second in home runs (56), first in runs batted in (132), and sixth in OPS (.928) among all players. While his batting average has been debated heavily, it is hard to look past his production as one of the best in all of baseball while being a key performer for a proven playoff team.

After a strong rookie season that included the NL Rookie of the Year Award, Skenes elevated his performance leading all of baseball with a 1.97 earned run average while taking home the National League Cy Young Award. The accomplishment landed him in a small group of players to win the ROY Award and the Cy Young Award next season.

Skenes capped off his second season posting a 10-10 record while also adding 216 strikeouts, a 7.6 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) mark as well as .95 WHIP while playing on a Pittsburgh Pirates team that struggled to get him run support all season.

Skubal capped off a second straight season of dominance on the mound enroute to his second straight AL CY Young Award. Over the course of the season the Tigers starter posted a 2.21 earned run average to go along with a 13-6 record, 241 strikeouts, .89 WHIP and a 11.1 strikeout per nine inning mark. Skubal also played a key role in the Tigers’ run all season and trip to the MLB playoffs.

Skubal anchors Detroit’s rotation and mixes strikes with advanced offspeed pitches, driving the Tigers back into contention with another strong campaign in 2025.​

Ultimately Aaron Judge falls to number three despite winning the American League MVP Award. Across the board, the New York Yankees captain was as brilliant as ever posting his fourth 50 plus home run season (53) of his career while pushing his career total to 368 total home runs. In addition the Yankees star added 137 runs scored, 30 doubles, 124 walks, and a .457 On Base Percentage mark.

2. Shohei Ohtani

Another MLB season is in the books and another strong season from Shohei Ohtani who joined Barry Bonds as the only player with at least four MVP Awards.

Ohtani continued his two-way brilliance, posting a .282 batting average with 55 home runs, 102 runs batted in,  and a .622 slugging percentage, while adding a 2.87 earned run average and 62 strikeouts over 47 innings of work on the mound.

Returning from his arm injury that limited his mound appearances slightly, but not his value; Ohtani led all MLB players in WAR by combining lineup-transforming power with ace-level pitching. His season elevated the Dodgers and maintained his status as the most unique superstar of the modern era of baseball.
