NFL Power Rankings 2024-2025
As the 2024-2025 NFL season recently concluded, teams are preparing for another intense and competitive year ahead. With key additions, breakout performances, and thrilling playoff moments, these are the Top 10 Best NFL Teams that stood out this season and will be forced to reckon with moving forward.
Honorable Mention
Los Angeles Chargers
Record: 11-6 (2nd Place AFC West)
Previous Ranking: Unranked
Jim Harbaugh’s arrival as head coach immediately revitalized the Chargers, leading them to their best record since 2018 and securing a playoff berth.
Despite their early exit against the Texans, the Chargers displayed immense potential with a strong young roster. If they can add key pieces and stay healthy, expect them to take another step forward next season.
Top 10 Best NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings
10. Houston Texans
Record: 10-7 (AFC South Champions)
Previous Ranking: 9
After an exciting rookie campaign, C.J. Stroud entered his second season with high expectations. Though his play regressed slightly, Houston still secured the AFC South title and knocked off the Chargers in the Wild Card round.
Adding Joe Mixon in the backfield was a big help, as he finished the year with over 1,000 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Their defense also made notable improvements, and with Stroud continuing to develop alongside a solid supporting cast, the Texans will be a team to watch in the coming seasons.
9. Green Bay Packers
Record: 11-6 (3rd Place NFC North)
Previous Ranking: 7
The youngest team in the league built on its impressive 2023-24 season, finishing with 11 wins despite battling injuries on offense. Jordan Love continued his growth as the team’s franchise QB, showing flashes of elite potential.
Green Bay played a tough game against the Eagles in the playoffs but ultimately came up short. With another year of experience, this team is poised for an even stronger run next season
8. Los Angeles Rams
Record: 10-7 (NFC West Champions)
Previous Ranking: 6
Despite dealing with injuries to star wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, the Rams found a way to win the NFC West and secure a playoff victory over Minnesota. Matthew Stafford proved he still has plenty left in the tank, and their defense stepped up when needed.
The Rams gave the Eagles a competitive game before falling in the Divisional Round. If they can stay healthy, expect them to be a serious NFC contender next season.
7. Minnesota Vikings
Record: 14-3 (2nd Place NFC North)
Previous Ranking: 5
The Vikings put together their best regular season since 1998, finishing 14-3, but still fell short of an NFC North title. Sam Darnold surprised many with his solid play early in the season, but his performance declined down the stretch, leading to a first-round playoff exit against the Rams.
Minnesota remains competitive with an exciting young receiving corps and a talented defense, though their quarterback situation could be a key storyline this offseason. If they can make the right moves under center, they have the potential to be a serious contender again next season.
6. Washington Commanders
Record: 12-5 (2nd Place NFC East)
Previous Ranking: Unranked
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the season, Washington emerged as a serious contender thanks to rookie QB Jayden Daniels’ incredible play.
After breaking their 20-year-long playoff drought, the Commanders took down the Buccaneers and stunned the top-seeded Lions in a high-scoring shootout.
Terry McLaurin continued his dominance, and with a promising young core in place, Washington has positioned itself as a legitimate threat in the NFC moving forward. Their defense also took a major leap forward, making them a well-rounded team to watch next season.
5. Baltimore Ravens
Record: 12-5 (AFC North Champions)
Previous Ranking: 8
Rounding out the Top 5 of the Best NFL Teams 2024-2025 Rankings is the Baltimore Ravens. Adding Derrick Henry gave Baltimore one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the league, complementing Lamar Jackson’s MVP-caliber play.
However, once again, the Ravens fell short in the postseason, losing a close battle to the Bills in the Divisional Round. Their defense remained elite, but they must prove they can win the biggest games when it matters most.
With their strong core intact and young star receiver Zay Flowers returning from injury, Baltimore should remain a top contender. If they can make a few key acquisitions in the offseason, they might finally get over the hump.
4. Detroit Lions
Record: 15-2 (NFC North Champions)
Previous Ranking: 4
Detroit continued its rise as one of the NFC’s top teams, finishing with 15 wins and establishing themselves as an offensive powerhouse. Unfortunately, their playoff run ended prematurely with a shocking home loss to Washington.
Despite the disappointment, this season was a major step forward for the franchise. With a young core featuring Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, and an elite offensive line, the Lions are well-positioned for future success.
Their defense made key strides as well, but they’ll need to improve their secondary to take the next step toward championship contention.
3. Buffalo Bills
Record: 13-4 (AFC East Champions)
Previous Ranking: 2
Many doubted whether Buffalo would make the playoffs this year, but Josh Allen silenced the critics with an MVP-winning season. The Bills advanced to the AFC Championship and held a lead against the Chiefs heading into the fourth quarter but couldn’t close it out.
With significant cap space and key pieces returning, Buffalo will look to reload and finally break through to the Super Bowl. Their coaching staff will need to make adjustments to ensure they don’t fall short again. If they can add more depth on offense, their window to contend remains open.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
Record: 15-2 (AFC West Champions)
Previous Ranking: 1
The Chiefs entered the season looking to make history with the first Super Bowl three-peat, and they nearly pulled it off. Despite a dominant regular season and playoff run, they suffered a shocking 40-22 Super Bowl defeat to the Eagles.
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce continued their dominance, but the offense lacked a true WR1, an issue they’ll likely address this offseason. With Kelce aging and roster changes on the horizon, Kansas City’s next chapter will be interesting to watch.
The team’s defense also showed flashes of brilliance, and if they can maintain that level of play while bolstering their receiving corps, they’ll be right back in the mix next season.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
Record: 14-3 (Super Bowl Champions | NFC East Champions)
Previous Ranking: 3
In at number one on the Top 10 Best NFL Team 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Philadelphia Eagles. For the first time since 2018, the Lombardi Trophy is back in Philadelphia. The Eagles dominated throughout the season and playoffs, capping it off with a Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs.
While Saquon Barkley had a quiet game in the Super Bowl, his addition helped elevate the offense throughout the season. With Jalen Hurts playing a winning style of football and an elite defense holding opponents in check, the Eagles will look to defend their title and build on their championship success next year.
Philadelphia’s coaching staff also made key strategic adjustments that kept them ahead of their competition all season. They have a great chance of repeating if they can maintain their depth and avoid major injuries.
