Who’s The Best in the MLB Right Now?

The 2025 MLB season is in full swing as teams around Major League Baseball look to get things rolling in the first full month of the season in April. While some of the top teams have gotten off to a hot start other teams expected to make a run at the World Series have gotten off to a slow start. Nonetheless there is still plenty of season left to be played with over five plus months of the season remaining. One of those talented teams expected to compete for the World Series is the Los Angeles Dodgers who land atop the Top 10 MLB Team Predictions 2025 Rankings list.

The Dodgers, who continue to spend money each off-season to build their roster, adding Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki to the starting rotation in off-season signings as well as Tanner Scott to bolster the back end of the bullpen.

In addition, the Dodgers also re-signed Tommy Edman, Enrique Hernandez, and Teoscar Hernandez while also adding Michael Conforto in free agency to bolster their lineup build around stars Freddi Freeman, Mookie Betts, and Shohei Ohtani. Joining the Dodgers among the best five teams in baseball are the New York Mets, the New York Yankees, the San Diego Padres, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Here is a look at the Top 10 MLB Team Predictions 2025 Rankings:

Honorable Mention

Detroit Tigers

MLB Standing: AL Central

Previous Ranking: Unranked

Just missing the Top 10 MLB Team Predictions 2025 Rankings list is the Detroit Tigers who have won just five of their first nine games to start the season. However, the Tigers with Tarik Skubal on the mound have the potential and talent to beat any team in baseball.

The American League CY Young Award winner anchors down a solid rotation that includes Jack Flaherty and Reese Olson and will also include Alex Cobb who is on the disabled list.

Meanwhile despite battling injuries to multiple players including Gleyber Torres, Matt Vierling, and Wenceel Perez, the team still has a strong lineup including young talented stars in Riley Greene, Spencer Torkelson, and Kerry Carpenter. The American League Central is wide open for any team to take including the Tigers.

Toronto Blue Jays

MLB Standings: AL East

Previous Ranking: Unranked

One dark horse team to watch all season and a team that could make a deep run into the post season and even win the World Series is the Toronto Blue Jays. The same Blue Jays that just signed current All-Star Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a long-term contract to keep in with the team for most if not his entire MLB career.

Despite winning just five of their first 10 games, the concerns with the team’s lineup not producing should correct itself including off-season acquisition Anthony Santander who is batting just .194 on the season with zero home runs.

Ultimately the Blue Jays lineup ranks among the best in baseball led by Guerrero Jr to also include Bo Bichette, Andres Gimenez, and George Springer. On the opposite side the Blue Jays have a strong veteran rotation to include Max Scherzer, Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, and Chris Bassitt. In addition, the Blue Jays added talented reliever Jeff Hoffman to anchor down the back of the bullpen.

Top 10 MLB Teams 2025 Rankings

10. Chicago Cubs

MLB Standings: NL Central

Previous Ranking: Unranked

Sliding in at number 10 on the Top 10 MLB Team Predictions 2025 Rankings list is the Chicago Cubs who are an early season favorite to win the division. Each season it feels like the National League Central is up for grabs and the current season is no different.

As you look at the Cubs the team has a ton of depth and strength on the mound including a rotation that features Shota Imanaga, Justin Steel, Matthew Boyd and Jameson Taillon.

Meanwhile the Cubs also have a strong veteran lineup that features All-Star shortstop Dansby Swanson, veteran third baseman Justin Turner, and off-season acquisition Kyle Tucker.

9. Baltimore Orioles

MLB Standings: AL East

Previous Ranking: Unranked

While the start of the 2025 MLB Season has not been what was expected for a Baltimore Orioles team expecting to compete in the American League East, the good news is the season is still early.

In addition, the Orioles were able to get American League MVP candidate Gunnar Henderson back into their lineup after missing the start of the season on the disabled list.

Despite losing Anthony Santander to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Orioles were able to fill the void with Tyler O’Neill in right field while also adding veteran catcher Gary Sanchez to an already powerful lineup.

The biggest question mark with the Orioles will come from their pitching after losing Corbin Burnes to free agency and Grayson Rodriguez to an arm injury during spring training. Overall, however, the Orioles talented roster is loaded, including a strong back end of their bullpen with Yennier Cano and Felix Bautista.

8. San Francisco Giants

MLB Standings: NL West

Previous Ranking: Unranked

Out West it is hard to look past the entire National League West division including the San Francisco Giants who have gotten off to the hottest start in all of baseball winning eight of their first nine games including seven straight games.

The Giants were busy during the off-season adding talented power hitting shortstop Willy Adames to the middle of their lineup. Adames is coming off a career year that includes setting career highs in doubles (33), home runs (32) and runs batted in (112).

In addition, the Giants added veteran starter Justin Verlander to their talented rotation that also included Logan Webb and Robbie Ray. While only one team can win the division, each team in the division including the likes of the Arizona Diamondbacks has a true shot at making a run in the division.

7. Kansas City Royals

MLB Standings: AL Central

Previous Ranking: Unranked

One of the up-and-coming young teams in all of baseball, the Kansas City Royals are a team to watch out for during the 2025 MLB Season. After making the MLB Playoffs for the first time since the 2015 MLB season, the Royals are looking to build on that success while relying on their young stars to take big strides forward this season.

One of those young stars is Bobby Witt Jr who ranks among the best players in the league and a player the Royals can build around for years to come. In addition to Witt Jr, the Royals have young stars such as Vinnie Pasquantino, Michael Massey, Jonathan India, Maikel Garcia, and MJ Melendez rounding out their roster while veterans such as Hunter Renfroe and Salvador Perez add veteran leadership.

On the mound the Royals have a strong rotation led by Kris Bubic, Seth Lugo, and Michael Wacha as well as a deep bullpen to compete all season long. Despite winning just four of their first nine games, the Royals should be in contention all season long.

6. Philadelphia Phillies

MLB Standings: NL East

Previous Ranking: Unranked

Just on the heels of the New York Mets for the best team in the National League East as the 2025 MLB season is starting strong is the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies finished last season as the best team in the National League East but failed to make any big splashes during the off-season leading into the current 2025 MLB schedule.

A loaded team with veterans to include NL MVP candidate Bryce Harper, catcher J.T. Realmuto, designated hitter Kyle Schwarber, right fielder Nick Castellanos, and shortstop Trea Turner.

However, despite a ton of veteran leadership, major concerns with potential declines and injury concerns may hamper the Phillies true potential for the upcoming season. Ultimately however, the Phillies have gotten out of the gate strong, picking up seven wins over their first nine games to start the season.

5. Texas Rangers

MLB Standings: AL West

Previous Ranking: Unranked

Rounding out the Top 10 MLB Team Predictions 2025 Rankings list is the 2023 World Series Champions the Texas Rangers. Despite dropping back to third place in the American League West division last season, the Rangers are still a loaded talented roster that have all the tools to compete for the division and another run during the postseason.

The Rangers have a strong starting rotation led by veteran starter Nathan Eovaldi and Jacob deGrom. However, health will play a key role in their pitching success as deGrom has battle injuries while currently Jack Leiter and Cody Bradford are both on the injured list.

At the plate the Rangers have a ton of young talent including catcher Jonah Heim, left fielder Wyatt Langford, and third baseman Josh Jung. In addition, the Rangers have the proven veterans including Marcus Semien, Adolis Garcia, Joc Pederson, and Corey Seager to help mold the young roster into a true World Series contender.

4. New York Mets

MLB Standings: NL East

Previous Ranking: Unranked

After landing the prize free agent of the 2025 MLB Free Agent group in Juan Soto expectations are set high for a New York Mets team that finished tied for second place in the National League East division last season. In addition to bringing Soto to their lineup the Mets re-signed long time Mets first baseman Pete Alonso to solidify the middle of their lineup.

The Mets also bolstered their starting rotation, adding starters Frankie Montas who is currently injured as well as Clay Holmes to deliver depth behind veteran Sean Manaea.

Overall, the Mets lineup that features Soto, Alonso as well as National League MVP candidate Francisco Lindor have the firepower to rank among the best offenses in all of baseball. The overall success will come down to the team’s starting pitcher in a National League loaded with talent.

3. San Diego Padres

MLB Standings: NL West

Previous Ranking: Unranked

Many arguments could be made for other teams across Major League Baseball but when looking at teams and divisions in baseball the San Diego Padres are a team that could be the best in nearly any other division outside of the National League West.

A National League West division that may be the best division in all of baseball outside of the American League East. The team’s strong 8-2 start has showcased their talent both at the plate as well as on the mound while allowing just 28 total runs over their first 10 games of the 2025 MLB season.

Overall, the Padres roster remained loaded with talent that featured Manny Machado, Luis Arraez and Fernando Tatis while second year star Jackson Merrill looks to add to his breakout rookie season. On the other side of the ball the Padres added talented starter Nick Pivetta to a rotation that already featured Dylan Cease, Michael King, and Yu Darvish.

2. New York Yankees

MLB Standings: AL East

Previous Ranking: Unranked

As the Los Angeles Dodgers look to repeat, the New York Yankees look like the team to beat in the American League as they look to get back to the World Series during the 2025 MLB season.

Despite losing Juan Soto to free agency, the Yankees were still aggressive during the off-season landing one of the top starting pitchers on the free agent market in Max Fried. The move looks to be a great one after losing Gerrit Cole for the season which opened up the need for a top of the rotation starter.

In addition to Fried, the Yankees added veterans Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt to a lineup that includes Jazz Chisholm, Anthony Volpe, and American League MVP Aaron Judge. The Yankees also promoted top prospect Jasson Domingez to their outfield platoon helping to bolster a lineup that ranks among the best in baseball.

Overall, the Yankees roster is built to repeat as American League East Champions and make a run at the World Series. Currently the Yankees have opened up the season winning six of their first nine games to sit atop the American League East.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

MLB Standings: NL West

Previous Ranking: Unranked

In at number one on the Top 10 MLB Team Predictions 2025 Rankings list is the Los Angeles Dodgers who are looking to repeat as World Series Champions.

Off to one of their hottest starts in team history, the Dodgers loaded roster led by Shohei Ohtani and deep pitching staff have all the tools to continue to be the team to beat not only in the National League but in all of Major League Baseball.

Currently sitting at 9-2 and in second place in the National League West, the Dodgers despite injuries to Blake Snell and Freddie Freeman, have depth in their lineup as well as in their rotation that other teams can’t afford to lose players. In the end look for the Dodgers to top the 100-win mark over the course of the season.
