The 2022-2023 WNCAA Basketball season is in its final few weeks of the NCAA Women’s regular season with March Madness just around the corner.

As teams and players get excited for their respective conferences and the craziness of March Madness, an opportunity to take a look at the top power forwards in women’s college basketball is now.

As you start to look at the Top 10 NCAAW Power Forwards 2023 rankings list, each power forward to land on the list is well deserving of the 2023 Katrina McClain Award handed out to the best NCAA Women’s power forward each season.

Landing at the top of the list as  2023 wraps up is the Villanova Wildcats senior power forward Maddy Siegrist.

Siegrist who was also in the running for the award last year is putting together another big-time performance this season while leading the nation in scoring.

Joining the Wildcats power forward on the list includes Angel Reese of the LSU Tigers, Aneesah Morrow of the DePaul Blue Demons, Alissa Pili of the Utah Utes, Cameron Brink of the Stanford Cardinals, and Laruen Gustin of the BYU Cougars. Here is a look at the Top 10 NCAAW Power Forwards 2023 Rankings:

Honorable Mention

Emma Ronsiek

School: Creighton Bluejays

Just falling short of landing on the Top 10 NCAAW Power Forwards  2023 rankings list is the Creighton Bluejays junior power forward Emma Ronsiek.

Ronsiek, who is from Sioux Falls, South Dakota is having another solid season for the Creighton Bluejays. The Bluejays power forward enters the last full week of February averaging 12.8 points per game to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Ronsiek can do a little bit of everything from rebounding to playing strong defense to finding her open teammates. On the season the Bluejays star has posted at least five rebounds in 15 different games while also posting at least five assists in five different games. 

Esmery Martinez

School: Arizona Wildcats

Leading the Arizona Wildcats latest surge in the AP Top 25 Women’s Basketball rankings has been Esmery Martinez.

Martinez has helped the Wildcats play to an 21-6 overall record including back-to-back wins over ranked opponents over the past few weeks.

The senior power forward from the Dominican Republic is currently averaging 10.9 points per game to go with 8.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

On the defensive end of the floor Martinez is strong while finding ways to force turnovers while posting 1.7 steals per game this season.

Top 10 Women’s College Power Forwards

10. Cate Reese

School: Arizona Wildcats

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NCAAW Power Forwards 2023 rankings list is Esmery Martinez’s teammate Cate Reese.

As Reese and Martinez have split time on the floor as well as moving around, both are great forwards who can play all over the floor while spending most of their time playing the traditional power forward role.

Reese is currently averaging 12.8 points per game to go along with 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists across her senior season on the hardwood.

9. Erynn Barnum

School: Arkansas Razorbacks

As you look around at the list of the top power forwards in women’s college basketball the list is strong with a long list of candidates that have played at a high level.

One of those power forwards is the Arkansas Razorbacks senior Erynn Barnum who is putting together her best season in college basketball.

Barnum enters the last full week of February averaging career highs in scoring with 16.7 points per game, rebounds with 6.8 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game. 

8. Cameron Brink

School: Stanford Cardinals

The Stanford Cardinals roster is as strong as any team in the country while having a long list of talented stars including junior power forward Cameron Brink.

Brink is averaging just below a double double this season while posting 14.8 points per game to go along with 9.4 rebounds.

On the defensive end of the floor the Cardinals power forward is as strong down low as any while making it difficult for opponents to score while recording 3.5 blocked shots per game. The Cardinals junior has also posted 12 total double doubles this season.

7. Aaliyah Edwards

School: UConn Huskies

If you are looking for an impressive power forward in women’s college basketball look no farther than the UConn Huskies junior Aaliyah Edwards.

Edwards has been a force all season long for the Huskies posting 16.2 points per game to go along with nine rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while also adding one blocked shot and one steal per contest.

Edwards has posted at least 20 points in 12 different games for the Huskies this season and at least 10 rebounds in 12 different games across the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball season. 

6. Dre’Una Edwards

School: Baylor Bears

The Baylor Bears have had a nice track record of landing dominant aggressive power forwards over the years and the same can be said about their current senior Dre’Una Edwards.

While Edwards failed to reach the top half of the best power forward list for women’s college basketball in 2022-23, the Bears star has been as good as advertised all season.

Despite being a bumpy ride spending time with the Utah Utes and Kentucky Wildcats, the Bears transfer has slid right into her role while averaging 16.8 points per game to go along with 8.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. On the defensive end of the floor Edwards has recorded 1.1 steals and one blocked shot per contest.

5. Lauren Gustin

School: BYU Cougars

Rounding out the top five on the Top 10 NCAAW Power Forwards 2023 rankings list is the BYU Cougars junior Lauren Gustin.

Gustin has performed as well as any power forward on the list on both ends of the floor while dominating on the glass. The junior power forward is currently ranked 1st in all of college basketball while averaging 16.3 rebounds per game.

On the offensive end of the floor Gustin is currently averaging 16.6 points per game and dishing out two assists per game.

Even more impressive are the 24 games this season the Cougars star has posted a double double with 10 plus rebounds and 10 plus points per contest. 

4. Alissa Pili

School: Utah Utes

One of the more impressive NCAA Women’s College Basketball teams over the course of the 2022-23 NCAA schedule have been the Utah Utes.

The Utes are led by a solid group of stars led by junior power forward Alissa Pili. Pili who is from Anchorage, Alaska has been a driving force behind the team’s success averaging 20.7 points per game to go along with 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

Over the course of the season the Utes star has posted at least 20 points in 15 of the team’s contests and showcased her talents among the best power forwards in college basketball. 

3. Aneesah Morrow

School: DePaul Blue Demons

When you look at the top three power forwards in the country each are well deserving of the honor while each could take home the Katrina McClain Award for being the best power forward in women’s college basketball.

Morrow who is just a sophomore this season is currently ranked 4th in the country in scoring averaging 25.7 points per game while also ranking 6th in rebounds while posting 12.3 rebounds per game.

Morrow, who is from Chicago, Illinois has not missed a beat in her second season after averaging 21.9 points per game as a freshman and 13.8 rebounds per game.

2. Angel Reese

School: LSU Tigers

It was hard to determine before the start of the 2022-23 NCAA Women’s basketball schedule how good Angel Reese would perform with the LSU Tigers.

Reese, who spent her first two seasons close to her hometown of Baltimore with the Maryland Terps elected to transfer to the Tigers this season.

A move that has paid off as Reese is currently ranked 2nd in the country posting 15.5 rebounds per game while also adding 1.8 steals per game and 1.5 blocked shots.

On the offensive end of the floor the Tigers sophomore guard is averaging 23.8 points per game to go alongside 2.3 assists per contests.

1. Maddy Siegrist

School: Villanova Wildcats

In at number one on the Top 10 NCAAW Power Forwards 2023 rankings list is the Villanova Wildcats star Maddy Siegrist. Siegrist who is one of a few favorites to land the Katrina McClain Award.

The Wildcats senior is currently shooting 52.2 percent from the field this season to go along with 9.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

In addition to those numbers Siegrist currently leads all NCAA Women’s Basketball players in scoring while averaging 29.1 points per game across the first few months of the regular season.
