Ranking the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Players 2023 Rankings as Zach Edey goes from unranked to Top 3 in the NCAAB Power Rankings

The 2022-23 NCAA Basketball has taken center stage as the top NCAA Basketball Men’s Players and their respective teams fight for a chance to make an NCAA Tournament appearance or even the Final Four come March.

As you start to look at the top Men’s College Basketball Players, the list is long and loaded with a ton of talent as they make a push to move themselves up the NBA Draft watch list.

That is the case for the Top 10 players landing on the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022.

 

One player headlining the list of the Top 10 Men’s College Basketball players list is the Kentucky Wildcats star Oscar Tshiebwe who is looking to help lead the Wildcats on a March Madness run this season.

While Tshiebwe has been dominant, another player putting together a strong season is the Purdue Boilermakers center Zach Edey who has not only helped lead his team to a 9-0 start to the season but also is averaging 23.2 points per game to go along with 13.3 rebounds.

Other top stars joining the list include Kris Murray of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Jalen Wilson of the Kansas Jayhawks, and Azuolas Tubelis of the Arizona Wildcats. Here is a look at the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022.

Keyonte George

School: Baylor Bears

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: Honorable Mention #2

Just missing the cut on the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022 list is the Baylor Bears Freshman Keyonte George.

George, who headlines a very talented freshman class for men’s college basketball is putting together a strong season during the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball season.

The Bears freshman is currently averaging 15.7 points per game to go along with 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.

Overall, George has topped the 20 plus mark in three different games this season while failing to score double digits in just one of the team’s first nine contests.




Drew Pember

School: UNC Asheville Bulldogs

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: Unranked

One name that might not be high on the radar as the college basketball season enters mid-December is the UNC Asheville Bulldogs senior forward Drew Pember.

Pember has been solid all season for the Bulldogs while averaging the 12th most points per game in the nation with 21.2 points per game.

In addition, Pember currently ranks 70th in the nation averaging 8.4 rebounds while also adding 2.2 assists per game.

The senior forward has racked up six 20 plus point performances including a season high 40 points in a 98-95 double overtime win over UCF to open the season.

10. Hunter Dickinson

School: Michigan Wolverines

Position: Center
Previous Ranking: #4

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022 list is the Michigan Wolverines center Hunter Dickinson.

The Alexandria, Virginia star basketball player, Dickinson is a star on both ends of the floor while providing the team a leader who can take over the contests.

On the year Dickinson is averaging 19.6 points per game to go along with 8.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. In addition to his offensive performance, Dickinson is averaging a career high 2.2 blocked shots per game.




9. Kris Murray

School: Iowa Hawkeyes

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: Unranked

If the last name rings a bell, it’s because it is a very familiar last name as Kris Murray’s twin brother Keegan Murray headlined the list of the top men’s basketball player’s last season.

Fast forward to the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball Men’s schedule and Kris Murray lands within the Top 10 Men’s Basketball players rankings.

Murray, who watched his brother Keegan Murray become an NBA Lottery Draft pick is slowly playing himself into a top prospect this season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes forward is currently averaging 19.4 points per game to go along with 10.1 rebounds. Overall, Murray has posted four double doubles on the season including a 31-point, 20 rebound performance against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.




8. James Bishop IV

School: George Washington Colonels

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: Unranked

As many of the top players in the country headline the top ranked NCAA Men’s Basketball team, sometimes stars are born on lesser ranked teams.

One of those players that has gone unnoticed is the George Washington Colonels senior guard James Bishop IV. Bishop IV who is from Baltimore, Maryland is putting together his best season this season while averaging a career high 22.3 points per game.

Bishop is a tremendous all-around ball handler who can not only score at will but find his teammates while averaging 5.4 assists in eight games this season.




7. Azuolas Tubelis

School: Arizona Wildcats

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: Unranked

If you are looking for a player who is playing at a high level as the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball Season approaches the end of the 2022 Calendar year, that player is the Arizona Wildcats forward Azuolas Tubelis.

Tubelis, who is averaging career highs in points, rebounds and blocked shots has helped the Wildcats to a Top 10 ranking over the first month plus of the season.

In eight games this season Tubelis ranks 21st in the nation in scoring averaging 20.1 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds while scoring over 20 points in five games this season.




6. Jordan Walker

School: UAB Blazers

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: Unranked

When you are the current NCAA leader in scoring while averaging 25.7 points per game you are well deserving of a 10 spot on the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022 list.

The UAB Blazers senior guard is nearly unstoppable for opponents while setting career highs in both points per game and steals.

In seven games this season Jordan Walker has posted at least 25 points in five of those contests including topping the 30-point mark in three of those games. 




5. Drew Timme

School: Gonzaga Bulldogs

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: #2

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022 list is the Gonzaga Bulldogs star Drew Timme.

Timme, who many expected to enter the 2022 NBA Draft elected to return for another season in hopes of a National Title. While it has been and up and down ride this season Timme has put together a strong season while continuing to build on his NCAA resume.

The Bulldog’s senior is currently averaging 19.8 points per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds and three assists. Meanwhile Timme is strong on the defensive end of the floor averaging 1.3 blocked shots per game. 




4. Taevion Kinsey

School: Marshall Thundering Herd

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Another previously ranked NCAA basketball player lands among the Top College Basketball players through the second week of December.

That player is the Marshall Thundering Herd guard Taevion Kinsey. Kinsey is a well-rounded guard who can not only score but can also run the team’s offense while having great court vision. 

Entering play on December 9th, 2022, Kinsey currently ranks 17th in the nation while averaging 20.3 points per game while also ranking 27th in assists per game posting 5.6 per game.




3. Jalen Wilson

School: Kansas Jayhawks

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: Unranked

While the Kansas Jayhawks continue to fight for an opportunity to repeat as the NCAA National Champions, the road continues to be difficult.

However, one player who is doing it all this season while leading the charge for the team is junior forward Jalen Wilson.

Wilson who averaged 11.1 and 11.8 points per game the past two seasons is averaging 21.9 points per game this season.

In addition, Wilson has been strong on the glass averaging 9.3 rebounds to go along with 3.3 assists and five double double performances.




2. Zach Edey

School: Purdue Boilermakers

Position: Center
Previous Ranking: #Unranked

When you look at the top two players in the nation, currently both players have made a case to land at number one, however only one can while the other lands at number two.

That player landing at number two is Zach Edey of the Purdue Boilermakers who is making a strong case to potentially be the top overall player drafted during the 2022 NBA Draft.

The junior center ranks 4th in the nation in scoring averaging 23.2 points per game and 2nd in the nation trailing only Oscar Tshiebwe while averaging 13.3 rebounds per game. In the team’s nine wins this season, Edey has posted double double performances in all but two games.




1. Oscar Tshiebwe

School: Kentucky Wildcats

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: #1

Remaining at number one on the Top 10 College Basketball Player Rankings December 2022 is the Kentucky Wildcats star Oscar Tshiebwe.

Tshiebwe who is from Congo is an interesting case for the Wildcats as he elected to return for his senior season. That said, the Wildcats forward continues to be a double double machine averaging 14.2 points per game to go along with an NCAA high 13.5 rebounds per game. 

Tshiebwe’s best performance came in the team’s first game of the season as he finished with 22 points to go along with 18 rebounds.
