Despite losing key members, the Tar Heels are retooled and ready to make another strong run during the 2022-23 basketball schedule. Here is a look at the Top 10 College Basketball Rankings Preview 2022

Honorable Mention

Creighton Blue Jays

College Basketball Betting Odds: +2500

Conference: Big East

Landing just outside of the Top 10 College Basketball Rankings Preview 2022 list is the Creighton Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays who have received some National recognition heading into the 2022-23 NCAA basketball schedule lands at number nine on the AP Top 25 Poll heading into the season.

The team is loaded with solid players including at the point guard spot Ryan Nembhard who will look to help run the offense while helping the Blue Jays make another run during the NCAA Tournament.

Indiana Hoosiers

College Basketball Betting Odds: +3500

Conference: Big Ten

Could this be a down year for the Big Ten after having nine different teams land in the NCAA tournament last season.

Entering the upcoming men’s college basketball schedule, the Big Ten currently has just three teams inside of the AP Top 25 with the Indiana Hoosiers being one of those teams.

The upcoming season should be exciting for a very solid Hoosier’s program returning most of their team including leading scorer Trayce Jackson-Davis.

In addition, the club has five-star recruit Jalen Hood-Schifno and the 23rd overall prospect entering the program.

Top 10 College Basketball Preview Rankings

10. Tennessee Volunteers

College Basketball Betting Odds: +3000

Conference: SEC

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 College Basketball Rankings Preview 2022 list is the Tennessee Volunteers who enter the season set to compete within a loaded SEC conference.

The Volunteers, who will be looking to fill big shoes with the departure of several key players including Yves Pons, landed five-star recruit Julian Phillips who is set to be one of the top star freshman in the nation.

Along with Phillips, the team also includes Zakai Ziegler, Santiago Vescovi, and Josiah-Jordan James to give the team veteran leadership.

9. Arkansas Razorbacks

College Basketball Betting Odds: +1500

Conference: SEC

When you start to look at some of the up-and-coming NCAA basketball programs, the Arkansas Razorbacks land near the tops of the list while potentially competing with the Kentucky Wildcats for the SEC title.

The Razorbacks, who had a solid potential lineup led by Trevon Brazile and Ricky Council IV, landed the 2nd best recruiting class entering the upcoming season landing three five-star recruits.

Those recruits include the 3rd overall prospect Nick Smith from North Little Rock, Arkansas as well as Anthony Black (18th overall), and Jordan Walsh (19th overall).

If the Razorbacks can gel early, the team could be the most exciting team in the nation come March Madness time.

8. Duke Blue Devils

College Basketball Betting Odds: +1600

Conference: ACC

One team always landing near the Top 10 NCAA Basketball teams leading into the college basketball season is the Duke Blue Devils.

However, this is an interesting time as the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball schedule is set to get underway as the team will turn to new head coach Jon Scheyer.

With Coach K officially retired, Scheyer will be in charge of continuing the Blue Devils' level and one that was notorious for reaching the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Despite the head coach, the Blue Devils landed the number one overall recruiting class heading into the season led by the top overall player Dereck Lively II.

Lively along with Dariq Whitehead (2nd overall), Kyle Filipowski (4th overall), and Mark Mitchell (22nd overall) deliver the Blue Devils one exciting team with a ton of NBA potential starters.

7. Baylor Bears

College Basketball Betting Odds: +1500

Conference: Big 12

The Baylor Bears head into the upcoming season with hopes of a Big 12 title run despite the departure of many key weapons from last season’s roster.

The Bears who will eventually have talented star Jonathan Tchamwa-Tchatochoua back on the roster after suffering a knee injury also has a solid core group of players around him including Keyonte George, LJ Cryer, Adam Flagler, and Jalen Bridges.

George, who has a huge ceiling, enters the program from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida is a prime-time caliber player who is the team’s lone five-star recruit heading into the upcoming season. If George can develop quickly the Bears should be safe and ready to compete.

6. UCLA Bruins

College Basketball Betting Odds: +1600

Conference: Pac-12

A team looking to make news during the upcoming 2022-23 NCAA Basketball schedule is the UCLA Bruins who are looking to take home the Pac-12 conference.

Despite losing some weapons from last season, the Bruins are retooled around the incoming class including Adem Bona and Amari Bailey who are both ranked inside the Top 20 recruits entering the season.

While their hopes of a deep postseason run evolves around those freshmen, the team will need David Singleton, Jaylen Clark, Jaime Jaquez, and Mac Etienne to help mold the roster.

5. Houston Cougars

College Basketball Betting Odds: +900

Conference: AAC

In at number five on the Top 10 College Basketball Rankings Preview 2022 list is the Houston Cougars are primed for a solid postseason run.

The Cougars are loaded with talent including one of the top defensive teams in the country led by Jamal Shead, Tramon Mark, and Marcus Sasser.

Sasser, who played in just 12 games last season averaged 17.7 points over that stretch while Mark and Shead combined to average 20.1 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game.

In addition to those weapons the Cougars landed five-star power forward Jarace Walker to fill out their entire roster. Walker has the potential to be a lottery draft pick during the NBA draft with a huge upside.

4. Kentucky Wildcats

College Basketball Betting Odds: +900

Conference: SEC

Another college basketball season is approaching and another season of high expectations for the Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari.

The Wildcats enter the season ranked number four on the Men’s AP Top 25 rankings leading into the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball schedule.

The Wildcats continue to be a dangerous team year in and year out as Calipari continues to find ways to retool his roster with top tier prospects. The same can be said about the incoming recruiting class that ranks 6th in the nation.

A class that features Cason Wallace and Chris Livingston both five-star recruits ranked among the top 15 incoming freshmen. In addition, the team added talented center Ugonna Onyesno to balance out the entire roster.

3. Kansas Jayhawks

College Basketball Betting Odds: +1300

Conference: Big 12

Coming off the program's 4th National Championship, the Kansas Jayhawks are looking to repeat during the upcoming basketball season.

The Jayhawks, who lost star guard Ochai Agbaji to the NBA, still have the tool in place to compete this season while looking to take home another Big 12 championship.

With a difficult schedule on the horizon, Bill Self reloaded with the 4th overall recruiting class while adding talented small forward Gradey Dick as well as MJ Rice, Ernest Udeh Jr, and Zuby Ejiofor. The trio will join Dajuan Harris, and Kevin McCullar among the starting rotation.

2. Gonzaga Bulldogs

College Basketball Betting Odds: +900

Conference: WCC

While the Gonzaga Bulldogs don’t get to land the top tier recruiting classes that most of the other teams on the Top 10 College Basketball Rankings Preview 2022 can, the team is still a team to compete.

The Bulldogs who return potential top five pick Drew Timme should have enough in place to compete for a National Championship despite the loss of Chet Holmgren.

Surrounding Timme will include both Anton Watson and Julian Strawther. The team also landed former five-star recruit Efton Reid from the LSU Tigers to help round out the overall roster.

The Bulldogs are a very well coached program that continues to build top five programs year in and year out.

1. North Carolina Tar Heels

College Basketball Betting Odds: +900

Conference: ACC

In at number one on the Top 10 College Basketball Rankings Preview 2022 list is the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The same Tar Heels team that was just one win away from taking home another National Championship.

While the Tar Heels failed to land a five-star recruit the team was able to add solid prospects to a team that is returning a ton of talent from last season.

Leading that charge is a group that includes talented forward Armando Bacot, Leaky Black, R.J. Davis, and D’Marco Dunn.

The Tar Heels should compete for the ACC championship while also making a run at the National Championship.
