The 2021-2022 NBA schedule regular season has come to an end, as ten NBA teams head home for the off-season while the other 20 NBA teams gear up for the NBA Playoffs. The NBA Playoffs are set to tip off on April 12th, 2022, with the opening NBA Play-In tournament.

As you get a chance to look back at the exciting 2021-2022 NBA season, many bright spots shined during the regular season as many different teams landed on the Top 10 NBA Teams of 2022 rankings over the course of the long season.

In the Western Conference the Phoenix Suns dominated for most of the season putting together the best record in all the NBA winning 64 of their 82 regular season contests.

In addition, the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors, and Dallas Mavericks each won at least 52 games. Over in the Eastern Conference the Miami Heat found a way to secure the top spot winning 53 of 82 games during the regular season.

Meanwhile the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers each finished the season with 51 wins. Each of these teams make a strong case to land at the top of the Top 10 NBA Teams as of April 11th, 2022, rankings.

With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 NBA Teams as of April 11th, 2022.

Honorable Mention

Toronto Raptors

Just missing the Top 10 NBA Teams as of April 11th, 2022, rankings list is the Toronto Raptors who made a late season push to move up to 5th in the Eastern Conference standings including winning eight of their final 10 contests.

The hot streak helped secure one of the six playoff berths while avoiding the NBA play-in tournament. Over the course of the season, the Raptors were led by a strong roster with a ton of depth including five different players averaging at least 15.4 points per game while two other players averaged at least 9.1 points per game.

Leading the charge was Pascal Siakam who averaged 22.8 points per game and Fred VanVleet who averaged 20.3 points per game.

Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls dominated the Eastern Conference for a long period of time during the NBA regular season before struggling down the stretch.

The Bulls won just four of their final 10 contests as well as just five of their remaining 15 games during the regular season while falling down the NBA standings.

Despite their late season struggles, the Bulls will be a difficult matchup in the Eastern Conference playoffs as the team has a ton of talent led by DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine.

Top 10 NBA Teams

10. Denver Nuggets

Locking up the 10th and final spot within the Top 10 NBA Teams as of April 11th, 2022, ranking is the Denver Nuggets who secured the 6th seed in the Western Conference.

The Nuggets who were without star point guard Jamal Murray for the entire NBA regular season and Michael Porter Jr for all, but nine games found other contributors to step up while the NBA MVP candidate Nikola Jokic continued his reign as one of the top players in the NBA.

The Nuggets had six different players average at least 10 points per game, five different players averaging at least two assists and eight different players averaging at least three rebounds per game.

9. Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz might lack the top tier All-Star caliber star as many of these top teams in both the NBA Western Conference and Eastern Conference, however the team has a strong core of weapons while playing some of the best defense in the league.

The Jazz ranked 4th in the NBA in points differential averaging +5.7 points trailing only the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, and Memphis Grizzlies. In addition, the Jazz dominated the glass ranking 3rd in the NBA averaging 46.2 rebounds per game.

Headlining the Jazz success is shooting guard Donovan Mitchell who led the team in scoring averaging 25.9 points per game, while Rudy Gobert led the team and NBA in rebounds averaging 14.7 rebounds per game.

8. Philadelphia 76ers

Don’t let the record fool you as the Philadelphia 76ers team is loaded with a ton of talent and the playmakers to make a deep run within the 2021-2022 NBA playoffs.

Led by potential NBA MVP Joel Embiid who finished the season as the NBA Scoring Champion and late addition James Harden. Embiid finished the season as the only player in the NBA to average at least 30 points per game (30.6 ppg).

The 76ers ranked 9th in the NBA in points allowed (107.3) per game, 5th in three-point shooting percentage (36.6%) and 6th in blocked shots per game (5.3).

7. Milwaukee Bucks

Despite landing at number seven on the Top 10 NBA Teams as of April 11th, 2022, rankings the Milwaukee Bucks may still be the most dangerous team in the Eastern Conference while looking to repeat as the NBA Champions.

The Bucks finished the regular season winning six of their last 10 contests to push their record to 51-31 and a three-way tie with the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.

The Bucks, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo ranked 3rd in the NBA in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game, 9th in field goal percentage (46.8%), 6th in three-point shooting percentage (36.6% and 2nd in rebounds per game (46.8). Antetokounmpo finished the season averaging 29.9 points per game to go along with 11.6 rebounds per game.

6. Golden State Warriors

As we have seen over the past few season’s injuries have slowed down the Golden State Warriors and the same can be said for the 2021-22 NBA regular season.

While the team waited for Klay Thompson to return, Stephen Curry helped carry the load. Unfortunately, once Thompson returned, the dynamic Splash Brothers duo played together for limited games before Curry went down with his own injury to force him to miss most of the end of the regular season.

Without Curry, the Warriors struggled down the stretch winning just six of their final 13 contests however the team won five straight to end the season.

5. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks enter the NBA Playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the NBA winning eight of their final ten contests to move into 4th in the Western Conference.

Led by Luka Doncic the Mavericks have been on one of the more entertaining teams in the NBA while consistently finding ways to win games.

Over the season the Mavericks posted a 14-2 record within their division and the third best record against the Western Conference winning 36 of their 52 Western Conference matchups.

4. Boston Celtics

When you look at the Boston Celtics 2021-22 roster, the team is loaded with a ton of talent led by Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

Despite the talent, the team failed to get it going early, struggling at times while sitting near the middle to bottom half of the Eastern Conference.

However, those struggles seized late as the Celtics made a strong run including winning seven of their final ten contests to land at the number two spot within the Eastern Conference before entering the NBA Playoffs.

The Celtics strong difference made a huge difference as the team ranked 1st in the NBA in fewest points scored per game (104.4 ppg) and fewest assists allowed (21.6 apg).

3. Memphis Grizzlies

The big question down the stretch within the Western Conference was whether the Golden State Warriors would overtake the Memphis Grizzlies as the 2nd seed. This question increased after the team lost star point guard JA Morant down the stretch with a knee injury.

Morant, who put together a strong season averaging 27.4 points per game to go along with 5.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game, was a key leader for the Grizzlies for most of the season.

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies won seven of their final ten contests to hold on to the 2nd seed while showcasing their roster depth and talent to the rest of the NBA.

2. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat controlled the Eastern Conference for a majority of the 2021-2022 NBA season before eventually securing the top spot entering the NBA playoffs.

The Heat are led by All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler who led the team in scoring averaging 21.4 points per game while also averaging 5.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.

Meanwhile the Heat roster has a ton of depth having five additional players average at least double figure points per game, two additional players averaging at least 8.7 points per game and two additional players averaging at least 5.3 points per game. The Heat’s depth makes them a matchup nightmare as they look to return to the NBA Finals in 2021-2022.

1. Phoenix Suns

There was no competition for the Phoenix Suns as the top team on the Top 10 NBA Teams as of April 11th, 2022, rankings after winning 64 of their 82 contests during the regular season.

The Suns have controlled the top spot in the Western Conference for most of the season while finishing the schedule as the only team in the NBA to have won at least 60 games.

The Suns ranked 1st in the NBA in points differential at +7.6, 1st in field goal percentage differential (+4.2), 2nd in three-point field goal percentage differential (+2.6) and 1st in assists differential.
