The race to the finish is coming to an end as the 2021-22 NBA Schedule approaches the final few days of the regular season. As the end of the season arrives, it opens a door to look back at the performances of both teams as well as players around the NBA.

This includes taking an in depth look at the NBA’s top shooting guards from both the Western and Eastern Conferences while also ranking them from one to ten.

Once considered the primary shooter on most teams and a player known for their ability to shoot from behind the arc, is no longer the prime roll of the position while many of the top shooting guards have the physical tools and abilities to run the team’s offense, they also can drive to the basket while also being a key role player on glass on both ends of the floor.

When looking around the NBA, the list of the top NBA shooting guards includes Devin Booker from the Phoenix Suns, Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls, Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, CJ McCollum of the New Orleans Pelicans as well as James Harden of the Philadelphia 76ers.

With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 NBA Shooting Guards in 2021-2022:

Honorable Mention

Terry Rozier

Team: Charlotte Hornets

Just missing the Top 10 NBA Shooting Guards in 2021-22 rankings is the Charlotte Hornets shooting guard Terry Rozier.

Rozier who continues to find success since arriving in Charlotte, is coming off his third straight season averaging at least 18 points per game a feat he failed to accomplish with the Boston Celtics with his career high sitting at 11.3 points per game.

The Hornet’s star is averaging 19.2 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. In addition to his statistics, Rozier is shooting 37.5 percent from behind the three-point line and 44 percent from the field.

Jordan Poole

Team: Golden State Warriors

A second player sitting just outside of the top shooting guards in the NBA rankings is the Golden State Warriors shooting guard and solid role player Jordan Poole who has been asked to fill in for top tier stars in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson at various times this season while being the team’s primary shooting guard.

Unfortunately for Poole, his shot opportunities are limited with both Curry and Thompson ranking among two of the best shooters in the NBA. Despite that, Poole has managed to average 18.4 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists on the year.

Top 10 Shooting Guards

10. Desmond Bane

Team: Memphis Grizzlies

The 2020 NBA Draft pick Desmond Bane is slowly finding a key role within the Memphis Grizzlies roster while helping the team take home the number two spot within the Western Conference and the second-best record within the NBA.

Now one of the faces of the Toronto Raptors after the recent departures of DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet is slowly taking over the floor general role night in and night out.

The Raptors star ranks 15th in the NBA in assists per game (6.7 apg) while ranking 2nd among the shooting guard group. Along with the assists, VanVleet has posted ten double doubles this season as well as one triple double ranking 9th among all shooting guards in Player Efficiency Rating.

As Klay Thompson continues to work his way back into routine game day shape and slowly sees his game return on the hardwood, look for the Golden State Warriors shooting guard to continue to climb the rankings.

When healthy, Thompson forms one half of the splash brother’s connection while ranking near the top among all three-point shooters in the NBA.

Since returning to the Warriors roster this season, Thompson has averaged 19.3 points per game to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. In addition, when healthy, Thompson is one of the top on board defenders in the NBA.

5. Jaylen Brown

Team: Boston Celtics

Landing at number five on the Top 10 NBA Shooting Guards in 2021-22 rankings is the Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown.

Entering the final week of the regular season, Brown trails only Devin Booker among all shooting guards in +/- point differential (6.6) when he is on the floor compared to when he is off the floor.

Brown also ranks 4th among all shooting guards in scoring (23.7 ppg), 2nd in rebounds (6.1 rpg) and 13th in assists (3.4 apg).  Brown is a key member of the Celtics team looking to make a deep postseason run in the 2022 NBA Playoffs.

4. Zach LaVine

Team: Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have been one of the biggest surprises for most of the season despite falling to the 6th spot within the Eastern Conference.

The team’s success comes from a variety of stars putting together solid seasons including Zach LaVine who put together his fourth straight season averaging at least 23 points per game.

Over the course of the season, LaVine has averaged 24.7 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. LaVine ranks 3rd in scoring (24.7 ppg), 7th in assists (4.5 apg) and 8th in rebounds (4.6 rpg) among all shooting guards in the NBA.

While he has seen some of his numbers bounce up and down for most of the season, James Harden is still one of the games top overall players as well as one of the games top shooting guards.

Nonetheless, Harden, who has the Philadelphia 76ers in position to make a deep NBA Playoff run in the Eastern Conference is averaging 21.4 points per game to go along with 7.4 rebounds and 10.1 assists per game.
