The game of baseball is made of a ton of moving parts with many players required to make a good team a great team.

For the top MLB players around the game of baseball, many of them all land on top caliber teams fighting for a playoff spot.

As you start to look at the ten MLB players landing on the Top 10 MLB Players August 2022 Rankings list, all but one is entrenched in the MLB playoff picture as the month of August nearly comes to an end.

At the front of the group is the potential AL MVP Aaron Judge who continues to lead all Major League Baseball in multiple statistics including home runs and runs batted in.

Meanwhile, multiple new names land most of the Top 10 MLB players in August including Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets, Dylan Cease of the Chicago White Sox and Austin Riley of the Atlanta Braves.

Francisco Lindor

Team: New York Mets

As the New York Mets continue to fight for the NL East division crown, Francisco Lindor continues to play at an elite level while posting a strong bounce back season during the 2022 MLB schedule.

The Mets shortstop currently ranks 5th in all of baseball with 84 runs batted in while posting a .273 batting average to go along with 21 home runs, 17 doubles and 80 runs scored.

In addition, the Mets middle infielder is currently ranked 6th in all Major League Baseball with a 5.0 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) mark.

Sandy Alcantara

Team: Miami Marlins

Landing just outside of the Top 10 MLB Players August 2022 Rankings list is the only player to appear on the list on a team not competing for a playoff spot.

That player is the Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara who is just 26 years old is putting together his best season of his young career through the last full plus week of August.

Alcantara has currently posted a career high 11 wins to go along with the best earned run average mark of 2.19 across 25 total starts this season.

The Marlins starter currently ranks 10th in WHIP (.98), 4th in earned run average (2.19), 10th in strikeouts (157), and tied for 11th in wins (11).

10. Matt Olson

Team: Atlanta Braves

When you are one of the hottest teams in baseball it is easy to see multiple players land on the top players in Major League Baseball rankings list.

That is the case for the Atlanta Braves as Matt Olson joins his teammate Austin Riley among the Top 10 MLB Players August 2022 Rankings list.

Olson, who the Braves acquired after losing out on former All-Star Freddie Freeman has been as good as advertised for the team in 2022. Olson currently ranks 12th in baseball with 26 home runs and 6th in runs batted in with 83 runs.

9. Dylan Cease

Team: Chicago White Sox

A new name landing on the list of the top players in Major League Baseball in August 2022, is the Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Cease.

Cease currently ranks tied for 3rd in baseball with a 4.5 WAR mark among all pitchers. In addition, Cease ranks 4th in strikeouts (178), 7th in wins (13), and 2nd in earned run average (2.09).

The White Sox stud has been the anchor to their rotation for most of the season while also turning in 11 quality starts over his 24 outings for the club in 2022.

8. Austin Riley

Team: Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves are loaded with talent both on the mound as well as at the plate including the likes of Matt Olson, Ronald Acuna, Michael Harris II as well as All-Star third baseman Austin Riley.

Riley, who is entrenched in his best season in the Majors, recently landed a long-term extension with the club that will keep him in Atlanta with the Braves through at least 2032 while paying him $212 million dollars.

It is easy to see why the Braves locked Riley up as he is currently batting .284 on the year with 31 home runs, 78 runs batted in while posting a .908 OPS mark.

7. Freddie Freeman

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Could you imagine if the Atlanta Braves had found a way to keep Freddie Freeman in their lineup with the stars, they would have put together strong numbers in 2022?

Nonetheless Freeman is putting together another strong MLB season as he has been a key contributor in helping the Los Angeles Dodgers to the best record in baseball.

Currently Freeman is batting .321 on the year ranked third among all hitters in baseball while posting a 4.9 WAR mark to go along with 16 home runs and 74 runs batted in.

In addition to those numbers Freeman has picked up 10 stolen bases in 2022 while posting a .397 On Base Percentage and scoring 85 runs.

6. Tony Gonsolin

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

Entering the final week plus of August, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to hold the best earned run in all of baseball.

One of those key contributors to the Dodgers success on the mound as well as posting the best record in baseball is Tony Gonsolin.

Gonsolin currently ranks tied for 1st in baseball with 15 wins to go along with the 3rd best earned run average (2.12) among all qualified starters.

Over 123.1 innings of work Gonsolin has posted 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings as well as a .86 WHIP.

5. Jose Ramirez

Team: Cleveland Guardians

Landing at number five on the Top 10 MLB Players August 2022 Rankings list is the Cleveland Guardians All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez.

All Ramirez has done since arriving for the Indians has put together strong MLB seasons and the same can be said for the 2022 MLB season.

Ramirez is currently ranked 4th in MLB with 99 runs batted in while also posting a .281 batting average, 23 home runs and an .888 OPS mark.

In addition, his strong play both at the plate and as in the field has the Guardians sitting atop the AL Central division.

4. Justin Verlander

Team: Houston Astros

The long time dominating starting pitcher Justin Verlander has returned to dominate in 2022 after missing all the end of the 2020 MLB season and all of 2021.

Verlander, who has made nine All-Star teams, won an AL MVP award, two Cy Young Awards, and the pitcher’s Triple Crown has shown no signs of slowing down during the 2022 MLB season while leading the Astros to the best record in the American League.

Verlander is currently ranked 7th in WAR (4.2), tied for 1st in wins (15), and leads all of MLB with a 1.95 earned run average through his first 22 starts of the season.

3. Pete Alonso

Team: New York Mets

While Francisco Lindor lands just outside of the Top 10 his teammate Pete Alonso lands at number three on the list as he competes for the NL MVP Award in 2022.

Alonso is currently batting .268 on the year with 30 home runs to go along with 102 runs batted in, 236 total bases and an On Base Percentage mark of .347 across 123 games played.

The New York Mets first baseman currently ranks in the top 10 in home runs, runs batted in and total bases (236).

2. Paul Goldschmidt

Team: St. Louis Cardinals

If it wasn’t for Pete Alonso standing in his way the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman could potentially be holding onto the Triple Crown Award in 2022.

The Cardinals first baseman has been brilliant in the field but more impressive at the plate while entrenching himself atop the NL MVP Award list.

Goldschmidt currently ranks 2nd in total bases (273), 2nd in WAR (6.7), 3rd in home runs (31), 3rd in runs batted in (100), and 5th in doubles (34).

1. Aaron Judge

Team: New York Yankees

Remaining at number one on the Top 10 MLB Players August 2022 Rankings list is the New York Yankees All-Star and potential AL MVP winner Aaron Judge.

Judge, who has been a fixture at the top of the list, continues to put together strong numbers for the Yankees. The Yankees outfielder currently leads all of Major League Baseball in WAR with a 7.2 mark across his first 119 games played.

In addition, Judge sits atop the MLB League Leader board with 47 home runs and 103 runs batted in.

His production at the plate has helped the Yankees to the 2nd best record in the American League while holding onto first place within the AL East division.
