Top 10 MLB Teams 2022 June Rankings

Ranking the best teams in MLB right now as Justin Verlander and Yordan Alvarez lead the Houston Astros up the rankings this month

The first two months of the MLB season is over while the 2022 MLB Schedule cruises through the month of June. As we start to look at the Top 10 MLB Teams June 2022 rankings, the group of teams have bounced around after an exciting start to the season.

One team that continues to dominate the 2022 MLB schedule is the New York Yankees who currently have the best record in all of baseball.

Meanwhile over in the National League, the New York Mets are currently sitting atop as the have taken control over the National League East division.

Through June 15th, 2022, 15 teams across Major League Baseball have at least a .500 record or better including four AL East teams and three NL West teams.

With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 MLB Teams Ranked 2022 Rankings: 

Honorable Mention

Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays continue to be one of the best teams in the American League each year and that is the same case with the 2022 MLB season.

The Rays have currently 35 wins over their first 61 games to start the season while sitting just behind the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees within the AL East.

Currently the Rays sit with the fifth best record in the American League. Leading the Rays charge has been Randy Arozarena, Wander Franco and Yandy Diaz at the plate while Shane McClanahan has dominated on the mound.

Milwaukee Brewers

Entering play in mid-June 2022, the Milwaukee Brewers currently sit in second place within the NL Central division with a 34-29 overall record.

The team has struggled off late winning just one of their last ten overall games. Despite their recent struggles the Brewers have a solid roster including three different players with at least 10 home runs with Willy Adames leading the charge with 11 home runs.

Meanwhile on the mound Corbin Burnes has continued his success pitching to a 2.48 earned run average but the team’s ability to score runs in his outings.

10. Atlanta Braves

The defending World Series Champions the Atlanta Braves have been red hot of late while playing the best baseball in Major League Baseball.

Currently on a 13-game winning streak, the Braves have climbed to second place within the NL East with a 36-27 record after sitting at just a 23-27 record.

While no single player has carried the load on offense, Austin Riley leads the team with 16 home runs and Dansby Swanson is hitting .291 with 37 runs batted in. In addition, the team is slowly working Ronald Acuna Jr back into the everyday lineup.

9. San Francisco Giants

The Wild Wild NL West is loaded with a ton of talent at the top with three team’s currently sitting within three games of each other.

One of those teams is the San Francisco Giants who currently sit at 35-26 on the year after winning seven of their last ten games and each of their last five contests.

During the team’s current winning streak, the Giants have picked up back-to-back wins over the Kansas City Royals as well as a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Joc Pederson is carrying the lineup leading the team with 13 home runs while rookie outfielder Luis Gonzalez is batting .306 with 10 doubles through his first 43 games played.

8. Minnesota Twins

In the middle of the pact of top teams in the American League sit the Minnesota Twins who currently have a 36-28 overall record.

The 36 wins is the third most among teams in the American League tied with the Toronto Blue Jays while positioning atop the AL Central division.

The Twins have been strong at the plate ranking third in the American League in total team batting average with a .251 mark while also ranking eighth in all of baseball.

In addition, the Twins currently rank sixth in total doubles (106), ninth in home runs (74) and fifth in all of baseball with a .324 on base percentage.

7. Toronto Blue Jays

On paper the Toronto Blue Jays have as good of a line any in baseball built around a core of hitters including Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Dante Bichette Jr and George Springer.

Despite a slow start, the bats are currently coming alive as the Blue Jays currently rank fifth in the American League in home runs with 75 while sitting second in all of baseball with a .257 batting average.

Meanwhile the Blue Jays pitching staff has been solid pitching to the 7th lowest earned run average mark in baseball at 3.59 led by Alek Monoah who is tied with the most wins in baseball with eight and third overall with a 1.67 earned run average.

6. St. Louis Cardinals

The storied St. Louis Cardinals franchise continues to find ways to win and that is the case with them in 2022 as they currently sit with the fourth best record in the National League and the best record in the NL Central Division.

The Cardinals success has come from their ability to limit opposing runs while also being one of the top run producing teams in the National League. Currently the Cardinals rank fourth in the NL in run differential outscoring their opponents 307 to 250.

Through June 15th, 2022, the Cardinals sit tied with the New York Yankees for third with 291 runs batted in, fifth in doubles with 107 and second in hits with 557 team hits.

5. Houston Astros

Over the past few seasons, the Houston Astros have been one of the best teams in all of baseball with or without stealing signs. This is still the case as the Astros have surged to the top of the AL West division winning 38 of their first 62 games to start the 2022 MLB schedule. 

The Astros strong success has come from their pitching staff where they rank third in all of baseball with a 3.06 earned run average led by Justin Verlander. Verlander currently sits first in all of baseball with eight wins to go along with a 1.94 earned run average.

Meanwhile Yordan Alvarez is currently leading the offense while leading the team in nearly every offensive category including batting average (.313), home runs (17), runs batted in (43) and on base percentage (.409).

4. San Diego Padres

Will this be the year the San Diego Padres make a deep run into the postseason and World Series?

Only time will tell but currently the Padres sit with the second most wins in all the NL (39) while trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. Over their past 10 games in June, the Padres have won seven of their past 10 contests including taking two of three against the New York Mets.

The Padres have a stacked lineup built around NL MVP candidate Manny Machado as well as Joe Musgrave who has pitched to a 1.50 earned run average to start the season. 

3. Los Angeles Dodgers

When it comes to these three top teams, each of them has shown their ability to spend a ton of money which has helped them land near the Top 10 MLB Team Rankings list of June.

Despite winning just four of their last six contests, the Dodgers still have a hold on the top spot in the NL West while outscoring their opponents by 108 total runs.

Currently the Dodgers rank 2nd in all of baseball in runs batted in (292), second in team on base percentage (.329) and second in team earned run average (3.01). 

2. New York Mets

After collapsing during the 2021 MLB schedule, the New York Mets are looking to continue their success to start 2022 with a run to the World Series.

Currently the Mets have the best record in the National League at 41-22 to start the season while only trailing the New York Yankees. The Mets success has been built around their league leading 320 runs scored while outscoring their opponents by 70 runs.

At the front of that success is Pete Alonso who is hitting .289 with 18 home runs and 59 runs batted in. Meanwhile Francisco Lindor has driven in 45 runs and Starling Marte has driven in 34 runs.

1. New York Yankees

Rounding out the Top 10 MLB Teams June 2022 rankings list is the New York Yankees who have been as good as any team in baseball through the first two plus months of the season.

The Yankees success has come from both their pitching and hitting led by AL MVP candidate and home run leader Aaron Judge. The Yankees currently lead all of baseball with 98 home runs and earned run average with a 2.81 team mark.

Over their last ten games, the Yankees have won nine of those contests to push their lead within the AL East to nine games. Judge currently leads the team in batting average (.313), home runs (24) and runs batted in (48).

In addition, three other players have at least 12 home runs including Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, and Giancarlo Stanton. On the mound Nestor Cortes has carried the load pitching to a 1.96 earned run average in 11 starts on the year.
