The evolution of the NBA continues to see the style of play on the hardwood change from NBA season to NBA season. Much of this evolution has come with the evolution of athleticism as more and more big men are showcasing each season around the NBA.
This is the same at the power forward position, a position that once was known for their power down low and defensive abilities has emerged into a position that can carry the team’s offense while also leading the NBA in scoring.
As you start to look at the Top 10 NBA Power Forward rankings list, many of these big men have the ability to do it all for their respective teams.
One of those power forwards that can do it all is the Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo. As you look at the Greek Freaks basketball game, he can do it all from attacking the glass for rebounds, driving to the rim for a dunk, shooting from behind the three-point line, as well as finding his open shooters to make plays happen.
Along with Antetokounmpo the newly acquired Kevin Durant who the Phoenix Suns acquired is almost impossible to guard at the position while being able to take over games.
Other top power forwards in the NBA during the first half of the 2022-23 NBA schedule include Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors, Julius Randle of the New York Knicks, Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic, and Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers. Here is a look at the Top 10 NBA Power Forwards 2023 Rankings.
Team: Dallas Mavericks
Just missing the list of the Top 10 NBA Power Forwards 2023 rankings list is the Dallas Mavericks power forward Christian Wood. Wood, who was acquired prior to the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, is a versatile big man who has stretched the floor while also providing a shooter from all over the court.
In his first season with the Mavericks the former UNLV Rebels star is averaging 17.8 points per game to go along with eight rebounds and 1.8 assists.
On the defensive end of the floor Woods has been a tremendous defender posting 1.2 blocked shots per game while using his size to make it difficult for opposing scorers to attack the rim.
Team: Philadelphia 76ers
One player that is currently overshadowed within the Philadelphia 76ers lineup is Tobias Harris who slides in well with proven All-Stars Joel Embiid and James Harden.
Harris, who has been in the league since the 2011 NBA Draft continues to be as productive as most power forwards while having fewer chances playing with two of the best players within their positions.
Nonetheless Harris has still managed to average 15.4 points per game this season to go along with six rebounds and 2.6 assists. The 76ers power forward has shown his ability to shoot from the field posting a 49.6 field goal percentage mark from the field as well as 37.3 percent from behind the three-point line.

9. Evan Mobley
Team: Cleveland Cavaliers
The future continues to look bright in Cleveland as the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently holding on to fourth slot in the NBA Eastern Conference playoff picture.
One of the team’s key pieces that has performed at a high level this season is Evan Mobley who is currently ranked 11th among power forwards in scoring averaging 15.7 points per game.
However, his play on the glass while ranking 4th among all power forwards with 8.9 rebounds and two blocked shots has played a key role in the Cavaliers defensive abilities to play at a high level.
Mobley is a strong power forward who can play on both ends of the floor while taking high effective shots while posting 55.1 field goal percentage this season.
8. Paolo Banchero
Team: Orlando Magic
Give it another few years and the potential 2022-23 NBA Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic may be sitting atop this list. Banchero in his first season has showcased his abilities to be a talented player at the next level after starting with the Duke Blue Devils.
Over the course of his rookie season Banchero has posted 19.9 points per game while ranking 6th among all small forwards. In addition, Banchero has posted 10 double doubles to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
The former Blue Devils star has posted over 30 points in four different games this year as well as at least 25 points in five different games.
7. Paul George
Team: Los Angeles Clippers
It seems like the veteran power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers Paul George has been around the NBA forever. While he has been in the league since being drafted during the 2010 NBA Season, George continues to rank among the best players in the NBA.
Entering the second half of the 2022-23 NBA Schedule the Clippers star is currently ranked 22nd in the NBA in scoring (23.3 ppg), 57th in the NBA in rebounding (6.1 rpg), and 34th in assists (5.3 apg).
In addition to his play on the offensive end of the floor George has been solid on the defensive end of the floor as well averaging 1.5 steals per game this season.
6. Lauri Markkanen
Team: Utah Jazz
As the game of basketball continues to evolve more and more teams around the NBA are looking for big men that can not only attack the rim but can play away from the rim with the ball.
One of those big men that has the potential and the shooting ability to play both near the rim as well as behind the three-point line is Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz.
Markkaken, who is averaging a career high 24.9 points per game this season is shooting 51.3 percent from the field while connecting on 41.3 percent of his three-point attempts per game.
To go along with those numbers the Jazz power forward is averaging 8.6 rebounds per game and 1.8 assists to go along with 22 double doubles.

Team: Sacramento Kings
Rounding out the top five Top 10 NBA Power Forwards 2023 rankings list is the Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis.
Who the team acquired from the Indiana Pacers has been a big-time addition this season while positioning the Kings third in the NBA Western Conference standings heading into the 2022-23 NBA All-Star Break.
Sabonis is a versatile power forward that can score while also dominating the glass. The Kings star is averaging 18.8 points per game to go along with 12.3 rebounds.

The Knicks power forward is currently averaging career highs in points per game with 24.8 points per game, rebounds with 10.8 rebounds per game while also posting 4.1 assists per game. His strong first half of the 2022-23 NBA Season landed him on his second NBA All-Star team.
3. Pascal Siakam
Team: Toronto Raptors
Each of the top three power forwards landing on the list of the best power forwards in the NBA are well deserving of the top spot. However only one can take home that spot with the Toronto Raptors power forward Pascal Siakam sliding in at number three.
The Raptors power forward is as dominant as any power forward in the NBA while also delivering his team a big man who can shoot from behind the three-point line. Currently Siakam is shooting 34.3 percent from behind the three-point line to go along with 48.2 percent from the field.
The former New Mexico State Aggies big man is ranked 2nd among power forwards in scoring with enough games played while averaging 25.2 points per game. In addition, Siakam is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game to go alongside 6.1 assists per game.
2. Kevin Durant
Team(s): Phoenix Suns (Current Team) / Brooklyn Nets (Former Team)
Despite battling injuries this season it is hard not to put Kevin Durant among the best power forwards in the NBA or even the best small forwards depending on how the team elects to use him.
Now as he gets a fresh start on an extremely talented Phoenix Suns team the big question down the stretch will be whether he can stay healthy to play.
When on the floor this season, Durant has averaged 29.7 points per game to go with 1.5 blocked shots, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
1. Giannis Antetokounmpo
Team: Milwaukee Bucks
This was an easy call as Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to not only be the best power forward in the NBA this season he also ranks among the best players in the NBA.
The Milwaukee Bucks All-Star and former NBA MVP continues to play at a high level this season while leading all power forwards in scoring, averaging 31.8 points per game.
As Antetokounmpo is as tough as any scorer to defend in the NBA he can also cause a disturbance on the defensive end of the floor as he has the speed and athleticism to cover nearly any position while ranking among the best rebounders in the NBA.
The Greek Freak entered the 2022-23 NBA All-Star game averaging 12.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists. His play on the court this season landed him easily atop the Top 10 NBA Power Forwards 2023 rankings list.
