The 2022-2023 NBA season is just in the books with the excitement just kicking off for the Denver Nuggets. However, as the Nuggets get to celebrate along with their fans, the rest of the NBA teams and their fan bases can turn their attention to the 2023-2024 NBA Season including potential moves the teams can pull off during the NBA offseason that is loaded with a loaded crop of free agents.

A list of free agents that include outright free agents such as Kyrie Irving as well as other players that have player options that could open the door to free agency including James Harden and Kristaps Porzingis.

In addition to outright free agents and players who have player options, other potential free agents who could hit the market include players who have team options that might be declined and restricted free agents who may resign with their respective teams. As you start to look at this year’s crop of NBA Free Agents the debate over which is deserving of a top spot comes down to the likes of Harden and Irving.

Other top potential free agents such as Porzingis, Fred VanVleet, Draymond Green, and Khris Middleton will have active markets this off-season. Here is a look at the Top 10 NBA Free Agents 2023 Ranking list:

Honorable Mention

D’Angelo Russell

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Free Agent

Position: Point Guard

Just missing the Top 10 Free Agents in the NBA as the 2023 NBA off-season approaches is the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell.

If it wasn’t for the long list of top tier point guards available in free agency the 27-year-old point guard would be much higher on the list of top free agents.

Russell, who rejoined the Lakers for the 2022-23 NBA season after starting his career with the team, was a strong complementary piece alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The veteran point guard is expected to see a solid list of suitors this offseason after finishing the season over the last 17 games averaging 17.4 points per game to go with 6.1 assists per game. A list of suitors that may include the Lakers while other teams like the San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards may also be options.

Nikola Vucevic

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Free Agent

Position: Center

If Nikola Vucevic was younger, he may have been one of the top five free agents in the NBA this offseason while proving a team a young talented center. However, Vucevic is on the other side of 30 but still has a lot left in the tank to provide a team looking for a playmaker at the center position to complement their entire roster.

Vucevic who will turn 33 during the 2023 NBA season is coming off a season in which he averaged a double double for the 10th time in his career. The former Chicago Bulls center averaged 17.6 points to go along with 11 rebounds per game last season.

A return to the Bulls is less likely opening the door for Vucevic to seek out other potential suitors including a team such as Oklahoma City Thunder who may be looking for a veteran leader, the Los Angeles Lakers who may want to add a big man to play alongside Anthony Davis, and even a team like the Phoenix Suns if they trade away Deandre Ayton.

Top 10 NBA Free Agents

10. Jordan Clarkson

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Utah Jazz (Player Option)

Position: Shooting Guard

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 NBA Free Agent Rankings 2023 is the Utah Jazz shooting guard Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson is a proven shooter who can shoot from both inside the three-point line as well as behind the three-point line which will drive his value up for a wide range of NBA Teams.

Clarkson who just turned 31 is coming off his best scoring season of his NBA career while posting his first season averaging at least 20 points per game (20.8). In addition, Clarkson added four rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while providing the Jazz with leadership during the start of their rebuild.

While a return to the Jazz is likely, other potential landing spots could include the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers who will be looking sure up their rosters for another playoff run in 2023.

9. Jakob Poeltl

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Free Agent

Position: Center

While he might not look as attractive as some of the other centers on the list, Jakob Poeltl is also younger than a few of those other options including both Brook Lopez and Nikola Vucevic.

The veteran center who spent the second half of the season with the Toronto Raptors has posted back-to-back seasons averaging at least 12.6 points per game while also adding at least 5.5 rebounds in each of those two seasons.

The former Raptors big man is also solid on the defensive side of the floor coming off posting 1.3 blocked shots and 1.2 steals last season.

Two potential landing spot for Poeltl could be out west with the Golden State Warriors if Draymond Green leaves during free agency or the Dallas Mavericks if Christian Woods leaves.

8. Jerami Grant

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Free Agent

Position: Power Forward

Another high caliber free agent of player agent Rich Paul is Jerami Grant who played for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2022-23 NBA Season.

Grant, who is an outright free agent who turned 29 in March, will be looking to join his sixth NBA team since arriving back during the 2014 NBA Draft.

Grant was a complimentary piece alongside Damian Lillard for the Trail Blazers last season while averaging 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.

The 20.5 points marked the second time over the past three seasons Grant has averaged at least 20 points in an NBA season. While a return to Portland could be the best-case scenario reteaming him with Lillard other NBA teams will look to add one of the top power forward free agents to their roster including a team such like the Indiana Pacers who have cash to spend.

7. Kyle Kuzma

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Washington Wizards (Player Option)

Position: Power Forward

What a horrible potential offseason it could be and more than likely will be with Kyle Kuzma expected to exercise his player option while joining Kristaps Porzingis on the free agent market.

Kuzma is the third piece to a solid core of players for the underachieving Wizards including current All-Star Bradley Beal. The Wizards power forward is coming off his best overall season in the NBA averaging a career high 21.2 points per game to go along with 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Kuzma could have a solid list of potential suitors looking to sign him including two teams with a ton of young talent such as the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons.

6. Khris Middleton

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Milwaukee Bucks (Player Option)

Position: Small Forward

Injuries and being the sidekick to the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo have slowed down the true value and potential of Khris Middleton.

While Middleton has been a solid contributor and complimentary number two for the Milwaukee Bucks, a change of scenery may open up his full potential if he elects to hit free agency by exercising his player option.

Middleton, who is coming off a season averaging nearly $38 million dollars averaged 15.1 points per game to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

While a return to the Bucks would allow for a chance to win another NBA Championship immediately, other potential landing spots would include a team such as the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans.

5. Fred VanVleet

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Free Agent (Declined Player Option)

Position: Point Guard

Rounding out the Top 10 NBA Free Agents 2023 Ranking list is another point guard in Fred VanVleet while loading the market with a ton of top tier point guard options.

The veteran guard who has spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Toronto Raptors should see a ton of opportunities present itself this offseason after another strong season in the NBA.

The 29-year-old point guard from Wichita State is coming off a season in which he averaged 19.3 points per game to go with 7.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds.

VanVleet could see interest from a team such as the Phoenix Suns who may be in the market for a point guard or even the Los Angeles Lakers who would like to add a talented point guard to their veteran roster.

4. Kristaps Porzingis

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Washington Wizards (Player Option)

Position: Center

Just 27 years old the current Washington Wizards center should be a hot commodity during the NBA off-season especially if he elects to exercise his player option with the team.

Porzingis rebounded in his first full season with the Wizards averaging a career high 23.2 points per game to go along with 8.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 blocked shots per game.

While the return of Porzingis to the Wizards delivers the team a top two tandem along with Bradley Beal, uncertainty over another top tier free agent of the Wizards Kuzma, may open the door for both to leave during free agency.

Porzingis would provide a team looking for a big man, a scoring threat and rim protector to compete such as a team like the Atlanta Hawks or Portland Trail Blazers.

3. Draymond Green

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Golden State Warriors (Player Option)

Position: Power Forward

The aging veteran would be an interesting free agent if he decides to exercise his player option and leave the Golden State Warriors. Not the caliber player he once was, Green is a defensive star who can add value to a veteran NBA team in need of one last piece to make a playoff run next season.

Green averaged 8.5 points per game to go along with 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game while battling injuries this season. Nonetheless Green’s playoff experience could add value to a team such as the New York Knicks who need a veteran leader on their roster.

2. Kyrie Irving

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Free Agent

Position: Point Guard

As the NBA off-season gets underway with players having the ability to negotiate with NBA teams on June 30th, 2023, Kyrie Irving will be one player who will be an extremely popular target for nearly any NBA team in search of a point guard.

Irving, who is an outright free agent, has indicated his desire to stay with the Dallas Mavericks while also finding a way to bring a third threat to the roster.

The former Duke Blue Devils point guard is coming off a season in which he finished 8th in scoring averaging 27.1 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.

1. James Harden

NBA Free Agency Tracker: Philadelphia 76ers (Player Option)

Position: Point Guard

In at number one on the Top 10 NBA Free Agents 2023 Ranking list is the current Philadelphia 76ers point guard James Harden. Harden, who many expect to exercise his player option, would be one of the marquee free agents during the 2023 NBA off-season.

While Harden hasn’t shown his scoring potential of his MVP seasons, the top tier point guard continues to be one of the best facilitators in the NBA while finishing this past season leading the NBA with 10.7 assists per game.

Potential landing spots could be all around the NBA including his former Houston Rockets team while a team with a proven top tier scorer such as Joel Embiid would fit his play at this point of his NBA career.
