Top 10 WNBA Shooting Guards 2026 Rankings
Ranking the best WNBA Shooting Guards of the 2026 WNBA season as Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces leads the way. Also where Azzi Fudd, Kelsey Mitchell, and more rank
By Neamen Baattai | June 17, 2026
Who is the Best WNBA Shooting Guard Right Now?
There may not be a top 5 player on this list, but the depth at shooting guard around the league is really impressive. I love the diversity of the players on this list, as it shows the evolution of the position. You have combo guards like Kelsey Mitchell, Jackie Young, and Arike Ogunbowale, as well as players who excel off the ball as scorers/spot-up shooters.
All these players are forces offensively, and a lot of them provide a lot on the defensive side of the ball as well.
So let’s take a look at the best two guards in the sport.
Honorable Mention
Jewell Lloyd
Team: Las Vegas Aces
WNBA Stats: 6,5PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.0 SPG
Jewell Lloyd is in the midst of the worst season of her career as of right now, and her role has been reduced because of it. She is going through a rough shooting slump and just flat out does not look like the player she has been in previous years.
It feels weird not having Jewell Lloyd close to the upper half of this top 10, but her play this year just has not warranted that. With that being said, Jewell Lloyd still has real quality and is only 3 years removed from leading the league in scoring.
Of course, that was on a different team in a different time, and her role is a lot different in Vegas. The shot just is not falling right now, and we have not seen a lot of that elite shot creation we have seen from her in previous years. I’m sure the shooting will look better soon, but as of right now, she is an honorable mention.
Chennedy Carter
Team: Las Vegas Aces
WNBA Stats: 14.4 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 SPG
Chennedy Carter was a tough person to figure out where to put on this list for several reasons. She has the talent to be much higher than an HM, but because of the fact that I don’t know if she will play many more games with the Aces, I have to leave her here.
I’m not going to get into some of the problems that Chennedy Carter has had with teammates, coaches, and Front offices in her career that have put her in this position. I will say that she is essentially auditioning for organizations to see if she can be a top 2 option for a team without bringing the headache she has brought at times.
Chennedy is enjoying a terrific season on another talent-rich Aces team, averaging 14.4 PPG, but again, trouble seems to follow Chennedy as she recently took the Aces out of her Instagram bio briefly before putting it back. And now, after missing the Aces’ last game, Becky Hammon said Chennedy was not feeling well and would be out for a little while.
Her effort has been awful since her incident with Azzi Fudd, and I don’t want to speculate, but I would not be totally shocking if she doesn’t play for the Aces for a while, if ever again. Trouble seems to follow Chennedy Carter, and she has the ability to be one of the league’s best if she figures things out.
Top 10 WNBA Shooting Guards 2024 Rankings
10. Azzi Fudd
Team: Dallas Wings
WNBA Stats: 12.4 PPG, 1.6 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.3 SPG
Azzi Fudd will certainly be higher than 10 on this list sooner rather than later, but right now, I have her at 10. Azzi did not have the greatest start to her rookie season, but she has really picked it up as of late.
Azzi is someone I could see being a 50/40/90 type of player at some point, and I think she plays off of Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale well. She is an elite spot-up shooter and has an excellent understanding of the game.
She is going to be part of this Wings franchise for a while, and her recent play is a big reason they have improved so much this year. She is averaging 12.4 PPG right now, but I am sure that will keep rising throughout her rookie campaign.
9. Kayla McBride
Team: Minnesota Lynx
WNBA Stats: 14.2 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.7 APG
Two things stand out when I think of Kayla McBride: shooting and consistency. You know what you will be getting out of her every time she steps on the court.
A lot of players on this list are combo guards that could be point guards in different situations. But that is not Kayla McBride. Kayla is great off the ball, moving to get her shot, and is the ideal off-guard on offense. She has not shot the ball as well this year as she did last year, but she has still been pivotal to the Lynx’s success. She is averaging 14.2 PPG
8. Arike Ogunbowale
Team: Dallas Wings
WNBA Stats: 14.5 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.9 APG
You can call it what you want, but Arike Ogunbowale is in a little bit of a weird spot because of the Wings’ last two first overall picks in Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.
Just two years ago, Arike would have been top 4 on this list easily. She was coming off back-to-back 20+ PPG seasons and cemented herself as one of the best scorers in the league.
But with Arike, sometimes there is more than what meets the eye. She is very obviously supremely talented as a scorer, and she can get 30 or 40 any given night. The iso shot creation is always there, and she is one of the better scorers of the generation. But with that being said, she does not have the impact on winning that a lot of the best guards in the league do.
She is not very efficient, and I think her style of play is just not something to rely on. Her role has diminished now, and although she is still impactful, she is not as integral to the franchise as she once was. There were real questions about her future in Dallas, but I think following a down year last year and now with Paige Bueckers being the lead ball handler, those questions still are being asked. With that being said, I do think Arike adds value to this roster as another true shot creator, and her potential offensive explosion on a night-to-night basis is helpful, as seen in the Wings’ last two games.
7. Sonia Citron
Team: Washington Mystics
WNBA Stats: 16.6 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.3 SPG
The Washington Mystics have a terrific young core and are undoubtedly a team to watch going forward. A large portion of that talent resides in their frontcourt, but the best player of them all might be 2nd year guard Sonia Citron.
Sonia Citron made the All-Star team as a rookie last year, and I feel like her game has taken another step. She is a knockdown shooter, and I think that may be her best skill right now. But with that being said, her shot is not falling from there this year the way it was last year.
The big step up is how Sonia has been committed to attacking the rim and getting to the line, where she shoots it at 85%. She has developed into an excellent three-level scorer and a reliable two-way player. She has great defensive instincts that make up for the lack of high-end athleticism, and I love her basketball IQ.
Watch for this Mystics team in the future, and do not sleep on what Sonia Citron is doing right now.
6. Courtney Williams
Team: Minnesota Lynx
WNBA Stats: 17 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.1 APG
I know a lot of people consider Courtney Williams a PG now, but to me, she is a combo guard, and with the emergence of Olivia Miles, it feels more right to have her as a shooting guard.
She has been excellent off the ball this season while also being fantastic as the second ball handler. She still has a lot of the explosion she displayed earlier in her career, and she is shooting the three well. Courtney is a three-level scorer and reliable defender.
She is at 17 PPG right now, and this Lynx team has exceeded expectations without Napheesa Collier. They have the best record in basketball, and when Collier gets back, the Lynx will undoubtedly be fighting for a championship once again.
5. Marina Mabrey
Team: Toronto Tempo
WNBA Stats: 17.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 3.4 APG
I love the Toronto Tempo’s guard play this year, and Marina Mabrey has taken her game to the next level. She is enjoying a career year, and I think a lot of fans are now getting to know the uniqueness and effectiveness of her game.
Marina Mabrey has shown she is worth every dime of the contract the Tempo gave her following their selection of her in the expansion draft, as she is having a career year.
Mabrey’s shooting and overall creativity have been outstanding, and she has the ability to knock down some highly contested shots. Mabrey is a true combo guard excelling at playing either guard position.
I love the competitive fire she plays with, and it feels like her style of play is portable to many teams. She is averaging 17.9 PPG, which is a career high, and has put together some huge games this season.
4. Brittney Sykes
Team: Toronto Tempo
WNBA Stats: 20.7 PPG, 3.5 APG, 3.9 RPG
I am going to go back to back Tempo players here and put Brittney Sykes here. Although Sykes and Mabrey share the same colors and are the first million-dollar backcourt in the WNBA, they sit at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to playstyle.
Brittney Sykes is one of the best two guards in the game and is enjoying the best year of her career following an offseason trade from The Mystics. People have talked about Sykes’ lack of efficiency this season, but I think what she is able to do as a driver and getting to the line makes up for the inefficiency as a long-range shooter.
She is so explosive and a nightmare to stay in front of. Even with the uptick in offensive production, she has stayed as one of the league’s premier perimeter defenders.
Sykes is averaging 20.7 PPG right now, which is top 5 in the league and 1/3 of one of the league’s better trios of guards.
3. Allisha Gray
Team: Seattle Storm
WNBA Stats: 19.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.2 SPG
Allisha Gray has really reached new heights in her first 3 and some change years in Atlanta. She has been an all-star 3 straight years, soon to make her 4th, and one of the best guards in the league.
Allisha Gray is someone I enjoy watching as much as anyone in the league, and she is one of the most portable players in the sport. The things she is good at fit everywhere, and it’s why she is so consistent. She is an elite shooter and can get buckets at all three levels.
Her defense and overall IQ are elite as well, and she always shows up and gets to work. She is so fundamentally sound, and although there are times you wish she were a little more aggressive as a driver, there is no true weakness in her game skill-wise.
She is averaging 19.6 PPG and is still the cream of the crop as a two-guard.
2. Kelsey Mitchell
Team: Indiana Fever
WNBA Stats: 20.3 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 2.7 APG
Kelsey Mitchell is at my 2, and although it was close, I feel comfortable having her here. Kelsey Mitchell was considered a top 3 shooting guard in the league heading into last season, but after finishing top 5 in MVP voting and a semi-final appearance, she has taken her game to the next level.
Kelsey is one of the best scorers right now, and the version of her we have seen the best two years is the best of her career.
I don’t hold any merit to some of the potential issues people have talked about regarding her fit with Caitlin Clark. While sometimes I do feel like Kelsey has issues with her over dribbling, I don’t think there is much of an issue with the pairing. Yeah, there could be better fits, but I truly believe the backcourt is good enough to win a ring together. The team is starting to play better as well, and I think there are ways to maximize both players at the same time.
Kelsey is at 20.3 PPG right now and enjoying another elite season.
1. Jackie Young
Team: Las Vegas Aces
WNBA Stats: 15.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 6.8 APG, 0.8 SPG
I was close to putting Jackie Young at 2 under Kelsey Mitchel but I ultimately landed on her as my 1. I think Jackie Young, skillset-wise, is more complete than anyone on this list, and if she were asked to play a bigger role as a scorer, she would be hovering around 20 a game.
I think the comparison between the two is an interesting one, but tough to make because of how different Mitchell and Young play, but both of them do their respective roles at an extremely high level. One of my biggest driving forces for putting Jackie Young here was how she has elevated her game as a passer this year.
She is averaging a career high 6.8 APG this year while averaging 15.4 PPG. She is an elite defender as well and has a play style really conducive to winning. I feel confident Jackie would be sitting close to 20 PPG if she did not play with Aja Wilson and had the free rein to take more shots. She is a massive reason the Aces keep winning, and although it was close, she finishes my list at number 1.
