Top 10 WNBA Centers 2026 Rankings
Ranking the best WNBA Centers of the 2026 WNBA season so far as A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces leads the way. Also where Aliyah Boston and more rank

Who is the Best WNBA Center Right Now?
If you want to truly compete for a championship, every team needs a dominant big. It is the hallmark for every elite team, and the players here all fit the bill of being dominant bigs. Some of these players, like Aja Wilson, Jonquel Jones, and Brittney Griner, have long displayed their skills on the big stage. While younger rising stars like Aaliyah Boston, Shakira Austin, and Angel Reese look to make up ground on some of the established superstars just mentioned.
The Center position has more high-end talent and overall depth than any other position, and it made this list really tough to rank. We all have a pretty good idea of who holds the top spot, but how does the rest of the list fall in line?
So, without further ado, here are our current 2026 center rankings
Honorable Mention
Brionna Jones
Team: Atlanta Dream
WNBA Stats: N/A
Brionna Jones has missed this whole year with a knee injury; otherwise, she would be in this top 10. Angel Reese has filled in really well this year playing the 5, but I am sure upon Jones arrival, Reese will go back to the 4.
This duo will be tough to deal with and will be one of the best rebounding front courts in the league. Her return will also give them a real post option to go to for points. I really like this Atlanta Dream team so far this year, and having Brionna Jones back will make them even better.
Ezi Magbegor
Team: Seattle Storm
WNBA Stats: N/A
Ezi Magbegor has been out a while with a foot injury, and upon her return, it will be interesting to see how she is integrated into this Seattle Storm team.
Seattle has a duo of promising young bigs in Awa Fam and Dominique Malonga, so I think Magbegor comes off the bench upon her return, at least early. She is this team’s highest-paid player and can still prove to be effective on both ends of the court. Right now, though, for all the reasons mentioned, she is an HM.
Top 10 WNBA Centers 2026 Rankings
10. Brittney Griner
Team: Connecticut Sun
WNBA Stats: 12.1 PTS, 4.9 REB, 2.4 AST
Brittney Griner might not be the player she was a decade ago, but she is still an effective player, only 2 years removed from an all-star appearance. Griner was a pretty transcendent talent who deserves her flowers as one of the league’s best players, and I still enjoy watching her.
Her ability to move at her size and the bag of post scoring she has still shows, and she can still get her buckets efficiency. She is not the same rim protector she once was, and the overall presence in the paint is not there anymore, but Father Time is undefeated, and it seems to be the twilight of Griner’s career.
Again, she is still a solid player and makes this top 10, and hopefully, she can finish her career playing for a more competitive team than the Connecticut Sun squad she is on right now.
9. Kamilla Cardoso
Team: Chicago Sky
WNBA Stats: 11.9 PTS, 8.3 REB
Kamilla Cardoso has had somewhat of an up-and-down career so far, but I think she has shown a lot of flashes of being elite. Cardoso will always give you elite interior production on both ends with her size, and she always has a chance to dominate games.
There are naturally problems she has in space, but that is something you always knew you would have to live with with her. Kamilla had a big game against the Wings a few days ago, and she is someone I think will be hovering around an all-star spot. Although the Sky have struggled much of the year, I feel confident in saying she is a part of this team’s future.
8. Shakira Austin
Team: Washington Mystics
WNBA Stats: 14.5 PTS, 8.2 REB, 1.2 BLK
The Mystics’ assortment of young talent is something every WNBA should be watching, and one of the best ones is Shakira Austin. A lot of young players should take note of Austin and the fact that every year she comes back better.
In year 5, she is averaging a career high in scoring and rebounding as she is holding down the Mystics’ 5 spot. The Wizards spent a high draft pick on Lauren Betts, who just a few months ago was leading UCLA to a college championship, and the play of Austin is keeping Betts on the bench.
She is a terrific inside scorer and someone you can rely on to protect the rim. I think she has real potential to be a good three-point shooter, and her ball-handling and facilitating are another solid part of her game.
She is averaging 14.5 PPG and 8.2 RPG on an improved Mystics team.
7. Dearica Hamby
Team: Los Angeles Sparks
WNBA Stats: 13.8 PTS, 8.1 REB, 2.3 AST
Dearica Hamby put together her best year in 2025, which followed her then-best season in 2024. It looked like Hemby was turning into one of the premium bigs in the league after being a fringe all-star earlier in her career.
But early this year, Hamby has failed to replicate the success she had last season as her PPG has dropped dramatically, and her efficiency has taken a dip as well. The two-time 6th player of the year got off to a slow start last year as well, so there is a chance she heats back up here soon.
Hamby is still a force on the glass and a real threat to get a bucket on all three levels. Drop off or not, this is still a really good big, and she still lands at a respectable 7th place for me.
6. Jonquel Jones
Teams: New York Liberty
WNBA Stats: 13.9 PTS, 9.1 REB, 2.7 AST
Jonquel Jones has gotten better as the season progressed and has looked like the player she is capable of being. New York is rolling right now, and I think the improved play of Jones is the big reason why.
The rebounding is still really good, and the three-point shooting is elite. She has not been the defender she was in previous years when she was a consistent DPOY candidate, and very obviously, she is not the same caliber of player she was when she won MVP 5 years ago.
As she starts to get older, she is a really high-end role player for a Liberty team looking to capture another title. They have the talent, and the presence of Jonquel Jones will be critical in how far the Liberty go.
5. Angel Reese
Teams: Atlanta Dream
WNBA Stats: 15.1 PTS, 12.2 REB, 2.9 AST
Not many players are as polarizing as Angel Reese, and it kind of feels like everyone has an opinion about her. One thing you really can’t say about Angel Reese, though, is that she is not one of the more effective bigs in the game.
She may not always play the prettiest style, but I’ll be damned if she isn’t jumping out at you on the screen when you watch her. She is always all over the glass and working harder than whoever she is playing against. Her defense is really good, and she has been a consistent scoring option for a really good Atlanta Dream team.
Angel is working on being an all-star for the 3rd straight year, which would continue her streak of being an all-star every year of her career. It is going to be interesting when the Dream get Brionna Jones back to see what they do with them. I could see them moving Reese to the 4 and benching Naz Hillmon, but whatever they do, it will be an adjustment. Angel Reese is averaging 15.1 PPG and 12.2 RPG, the former of the two being a career high.
4. Aliyah Boston
Teams: Indiana Fever
WNBA Stats: 17.5 PTS, 8.6 REB, 2.8 AST, 1.4 BLK, 1.3 STL
2026 has been another outstanding year for Aliyah Boston as she looks to make her 4th all star appearance in a row. She has extended her game out to the three-point line, making 1.1 threes per game while shooting it at a 42% clip. She has still maintained her dominance in the paint and been an excellent player on the defensive side of the ball.
Coming into the year, if you told me Aliyah Boston would be a reliable three-point shooter, I would have thought she would be a top 2 center in the game. But the reason I have her at 4 is that I don’t think she has been as sharp in other areas this year as she has in previous years.
She is averaging a career high in turnovers, and she has not had as good a year as a finisher as we have grown accustomed to. Her consistent foul trouble does not help matters either. If she cleans those things, she would probably leapfrog up to 2, but for right now, she lands at a very respectable 4.
3. Jessica Shepard
Team: Dallas Wings
WNBA Stats: 13.7 PTS, 11.5 REB, 5.6 AST
Jessica Shepard’s play is one of the biggest surprises of the year, and it is pretty crazy to say someone who spent last year not starting and on a different team has a real argument for being a top 10 player in the WNBA this year.
The wings run a lot of offense through her, and her fit around Paige Bueckers is outstanding. Her rebounding has been great, and she currently leads the league in total rebounds. The passing has been a huge part of what the Wings want to do, and she has shown off that part of her skillset in multiple ways.
Her ability to carry the ball off of rebounds has been a huge plus, and her passing in the half-court to cutters and on DHOs is all integral to how one of the league’s best offenses plays.
The only negative about Shepard this year and going forward is if she is good enough as a defender on the interior for a Wings team that will have to play a lot of the league’s best bigs if they want to make a deep run.
Either way, though, I don’t think anyone thought Jessica Shepard would be doing anything close to what she is doing, as she is averaging 13.7 PPG, 11.5 RPG, and 5.6 APG.
2. Natasha howard
Teams: Minnesota Lynx
WNBA Stats: 17.1 PTS, 7.5 REB, 1.6 sTL
The Minnesota Lynx have been great this year, even without star forward Napheesa Collier. A large chunk of that credit has gone to Olivia Miles, who is deserving, but another person who deserves a lot of that credit as well is Natasha Howard.
Natasha Howard has changed her game for the better in Minnesota, going from a low-efficiency, tough-shot taker to an elite role playing big. At age 34, she is having arguably one of her best seasons, and her fit next to Olivia Miles is absolutely perfect. We know how much Olivia Miles loves to use screens, and nobody in the league this year has set better screens than Natasha Howard.
She has been the recipient of a lot of Olivia Miles dimes off her rolls from those screens, and this change in her game has made her one of the most effective players in the league this year. She is going to be an all-star for the first time since 2022 and is averaging 17.1 PPG and 7.5 RPG on a first-seeded Lynx squad.
1. A’ja Wilson
Teams: Las Vegas Aces
WNBA Stats: 26.1 PTS, 9.1 REB, 3.1 AST
This was a no-brainer, and if anyone tells you Aja Wilson is anything but the best player in women’s basketball, then they might need to get checked. Aja is going to go down as the greatest ever if she isn’t already. She has every accolade imaginable, and following another ring last year, she is again as dominant as ever.
It feels like she doesn’t need much explanation or breakdown of why she is here, so I won’t waste our time on it. Aja is first in points, first in blocks, and 5th in rebounds and has elevated her game after winning MVP last season. Her three-point shooting is up both % and volume-wise, and she is doing things never seen before in this league’s history.
Aja turns 30 in a few months, so she still has a lot of time to keep building on an already stacked resume. Again, the easiest person to rank on this list, and I’m sure she will finish this year at this top spot.
