NFL Draft 2026 Defensive End Rankings

Under the bright lights of the College Football season, all season offensive coordinators across college football were looking to find the solution in shutting down the best pass rushers in the country. As you look at the Top 10 College Football Defensive Ends 2025-2026 rankings, each of these defensive ends were not only disruptive on Saturday but also played a role in how opposing teams prepared each week.

Among those talented defensive ends includes Ruben Bain Jr of the Miami Hurricanes, Colin Simmons of the Texas Longhorns, and David Bailey Jr. of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. These three defensive ends as well as the rest of the list of top tier stars turned Saturdays into long anxious afternoons for quarterbacks and offensive lineman alike.

This year’s edge class is defined by versatility. Some of these rushers lived in wide-9 alignments, screaming off the corner with elite bend, while others won with violent hands, heavy hips, and the power to walk 300-pound tackles back into the pocket. Several doubled as primary run fitters, setting the edge on early downs and then kicking inside or standing up on passing downs to hunt mismatches. Ultimately the defensive end position is as vital as any over the course of any given Saturday.

Here is a look at the Top 10 College Football Defensive Ends 2025-2026 rankings:

Honorable Mention

Dani Dennis-Sutton

School: Penn State Nittany Lions

Draft Status: NFL Draft

In a season worthy of the Top 10 College Football Defensive Ends 2025-2026 rankings conversation, Penn State’s Dani Dennis-Sutton played like a prototype edge within the Nittany Lions aggressive front.

The senior pass rush specialist was all over the field for the team this season while ranking among the most productive defensive ends in the country. Over the course of his senior season, Dennis-Sutton tied his career high in tackles with 42, sacks with 8.5, and passes defended with three while also setting a career high with three forced fumbles. His long frame and heavy hands let him collapse the pocket on bull rushes, while his closing burst shows up when he loops or crosses face on stunts.

Despite the struggles of the team all season, Dennis-Sutton was a bright spot from the start of the season to the final play of the year.

Zion Young

School: Missouri Tigers

Draft Status: NFL Draft

Joining Dani Dennis-Sutton as players who just missed the list of the most talented defensive ends in the country is Zion Young of the Missouri Tigers.

Missouri’s defensive surge owed plenty to a senior edge who finally put it all together, as Young took a big step forward while solidifying his status as a game changer on the edge. Young was all over the field during his senior season posting a career high 42 tackles to go along with 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two passes defended. Young wins with length and surprising flexibility, consistently dipping under pads while still converting speed to power when he sees a tackle overset.

His run defense was just as important; he set a hard edge, forced plays back into the teeth of the Tigers’ defense, and showed closing burst on perimeter screens. Playing in a loaded SEC conference, Young held his own and produced against some of the top offensive tackles and lineman in all of College Football.

Top 10 Best Defensive Ends in College Football 2025-2026 Rankings

10. John Henry Daley

School: Utah Utes

Draft Status: Transfer Portal

At the back end of the Top 10 College Football Defensive Ends 2025-2026 rankings list is the former Utah Utes redshirt sophomore John Henry Daley.

Daley, who has elected to transfer now that the season is over, put together a stellar campaign, ranking among the leaders in sacks and tackles among the defensive end positions. Finally getting a shot at playing time this season, the talented Utes defender posted 11.5 sacks to go along with 48 tackles, one pass defended, and two forced fumbles. That production aligned with the tape: a long, twitchy rusher who times the snap, wins with a tight inside counter, and closes with real finishing power.

Utah also leaned on his physicality against the run, where he set a hard edge and forced cutbacks into help. If not for a late season injury forcing Daley to miss the team’s final regular season game and Bowl game, a chase for the sack lead may have been in his grasp.

9. Nadame Tucker

School: Western Michigan Broncos

Draft Status: NFL Draft

Another talented defensive end who went under the radar for the 2025-2026 season is the Western Michigan Broncos senior Nadame Tucker.

Tucker, who spent his first season in a limited role within the Houston Cougars, made the most of his transfer while finishing the season tied for the lead with 14.5 sacks. If Tucker appeared on the big stages of the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, or ACC, he would be a name everyone knows. While the talent of opponents brings his value down, his tape showed a defender who could reduce inside on third down, work across guards’ faces, and still anchor versus the run when lined up wide.

In addition to the 14.5 sacks, Tucker ranked among the leaders with four forced fumbles. In addition Tucker added a career high 55 tackles and one pass defended. NOw the talented pass rusher will have a chance to take that level of play to the NFL Draft.

8. Akheem Mesidor

School: Miami Hurricanes

Draft Status: NFL Draft

Mesidor who has spent the past three seasons with the Hurricanes posted his best overall season of his career including setting career highs in tackles (56), sacks (10.5), and forced fumbles (4). Mesidor’s ability to reduce inside on passing downs and win with hands and leverage created interior stress that doesn’t always show fully in box-score sacks.

He plays with a heavy strike at contact, stacks and sheds tight ends in the run game, and shows the positional versatility NFL scouts covet in today’s hybrid fronts.

Ultimately the senior defensive end closed out his collegiate career posting a career high 11.5 sacks while tying for sixth most in the country.

The production didn’t stop there as the talented edge defender also posted 31 tackles, one forced fumble and six passes defended showcasing his versatility both at getting to the quarterback and as well as knocking down the football. His profile screams late-blooming star: a disruptive, slippery edge whose tackle for loss productivity tells the real story more than traditional box-score tackles.

The talented red shirt junior who announced he would be returning for the 2026-2027 College Football season, delivered a stuffed stat sheet that featured 38 tackles, three passes defended, and a staggering 12.5 sacks while finishing third in the nation in sacks.

After posting nine sacks as a freshman, Simmons registered a new career high with 12 sacks while also adding three forced fumbles, two passes defended, and 43 tackles.  The talented Longhorns star displayed speed, power and high football IQ all season while causing it to beat the top offensive lineman in College Football.

As the Longhorns pushed to 9-3 in a loaded SEC, Simmons repeatedly swung momentum with drive-killing sacks and strip opportunities that flipped field position.

2. David Bailey

School: Texas Tech Red Raiders

Draft Status: NFL Draft

Bailey capped off his final season leading the nation with 14.5 sacks while also registering 52 tackles, three passes defended, and three forced fumbles.
