Top 10 College Basketball Players 2022 Rankings
Ranking the best NCAA Men’s College Basketball Players of the 2021 - 2022 season after an amazing NCAA March Madness Tournament

The 2021-22 NCAA Men’s Basketball schedule is wrapped up after another exciting March Madness contest during the National Championship Game on April 4th, 2022.
A game that witnessed the Kansas Jayhawks knock off the North Carolina Tar Heels 72-69 despite early struggles. Within this game, the level of talent was loaded with both teams featuring Top 10 NCAA BB Players on their rosters.
One of those stars is the Jayhawks senior guard Ochai Agbaji while the other star was the Tar Heels junior forward Armando Bacot. While those two were featured in the National Championship, they are only two of the top NCAA men’s basketball players that took it to the hardwood over the course of the season.
The list also includes the likes of Keegan Murray of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Johnny Davis of the Wisconsin Badgers, and Oscar Tshiebwe of the Kentucky Wildcats to name a few.
With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 NCAA Men’s College Basketball Players:
School: Auburn Tigers
Just missing the Top 10 NCAA men’s basketball rankings list is the Auburn Tigers star freshman from Fayetteville, Georgia Jabari Smith.
Smith was one of the main keys for an Auburn Tigers team that finished with the best record during the regular season in the SEC while also making it to the second round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament.
Smith finished the year averaging 16.9 points per game to go along with 7.4 rebounds, two assists, 1.1 steals and one blocked shot per game. In the team’s two NCAA tournament contests, Smith scored 30 total points to go along with 29 rebounds, eight assists and three blocked shots.
School: Arizona Wildcats
A second NCAA basketball star that missed the Top 10 was the Arizona Wildcats sophomore star Bennedict Mathurin.
Mathurin put together an impressive second season while seeing his career highs in points per game, rebounds per game and assists all improve over his freshman year. Mathurin finished the season averaging 17.7 points per game to go along with 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
With his play on the floor, the Wildcats finished the regular season ranked 2nd on the AP Top 25 Men’s Basketball ranking while also advancing to the Sweet 16.
Top 10 College Players 2022
10. Chet Holmgreen
School: Gonzaga Bulldogs
What is there not to like about this seven-foot center from Minneapolis, Minnesota who stepped right into a prime role for the Gonzaga Bulldogs that put together another solid performance from start to finish.
Holmgreen is a terrific two-way player that can not only put-up solid production on the offensive side of the floor but also causes havoc on the defensive side of the floor with his long build and long arms.
Holmgreen finished the season averaging 14.1 points per game while ranking 18th in rebounds per game with 9.9 per contests and 4th in blocked shots per game with 3.7 per contests.
9. Jaden Ivey
School: Purdue Boilermakers
Another name that was buzzed around college basketball for most of the season was Jaden Ivey of the Purdue Boilermakers.
With the play of Ivey on the floor the Boilermakers reached the number one spot on the AP Top 25 Men’s Basketball rankings at one point during the regular season while also advancing to the Big Ten Championship game and the Sweet 16 round of the tournament.
The sophomore guard finished the season averaging 17.3 points per game while also adding 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest.
8. Drew Timme
School: Gonzaga Bulldogs
One of the finalists for the John Wooden Award as the Nation’s Top Men’s Basketball Player, Drew Timme continued to put together a strong career with the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
The junior forward finished the season averaging 18.4 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while averaging 58.6 percent from the field over the course of the season.
In the final three contests of the NCAA tournament, Timme’s ability to put together strong performances showed up as he scored at least 25 points in each contest while recording two double double performances.
7. E.J. Liddell
School: Ohio State Buckeyes
One name that should be mentioned more and more as the months move along is the Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell is expected to be a big name among top draft picks within the 2022 NBA Draft.
Liddell, who was playing in his junior season with the Buckeyes finished the year posting career highs in points per game with 19.4 per game, rebounds per game with 7.9 per game, blocked shots per game with 2.6 per game and assists per game with 2.5 per game.
Liddell announced after the team’s departure from the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament he would forgo his senior season and enter the draft.
6. Armando Bacot
School: North Carolina Tar Heels
The decision to return for his junior season with the North Carolina Tar Heels nearly paid off as Armando Bacot and the team made a deep run to the National Championship Game.
Along the ride, Bacot helped the Tar Heels spoil the fun of Coach K of Duke while knocking them off in his final coaching game at home at Duke as well as in the Final Four.
The Tar Heels junior forward was dominant on both ends of the floor averaging 16.3 points per game to go along with 13.1 rebounds per game. In the NCAA tournament, Bacot averaged 15.3 points per game to go along with 16.5 rebounds per game.
5. Ochai Agbaji
School: Kansas Jayhawks
Coming in at number five on the Top 10 NCAA BB Players rankings list is the Kansas Jayhawks senior guard Ochai Agbaji.
Agbaji, who was one of the main weapons of the Jayhawks success this season including their run to the National Championship, is expected to be a potential NBA Draft Lottery Pick during the summer.
As we have seen in years past, strong guard play within the NCAA tournament has the potential to prevail and that is the case with the Jayhawks this year. Agbaji averaged a career high 18.8 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
4. Kofi Cockburn
School: Illinois Fighting Illini
The Kingston, Jamaica native Kofi Cockburn was the backbone to the Illinois Fighting Illini all season long and it showed up at times during the regular season including one contest which the team was knocked off by unranked Maryland Terps with Cockburn out.
Cockburn averaged a double double for the year ranking in the top 11 in both points per game and rebounds per game.
The Fighting Illini star averaged 20.9 points per game (11th) and 10.6 rebounds per game (8th) while also ranking 16th in field goal percentage posting a 59.3 percent mark for the season.
3. Oscar Tshiebwe
School: Kentucky Wildcats
As you move into the Top 3 Men’s Basketball players, the debate could be made for each of these three stars as they put together terrific 2021-22 campaigns.
Nonetheless the Kentucky Wildcats forward Oscar Tshiebwe was a driving force all season long while leading the nation in rebounding averaging a career high 15.1 rebounds per game. In addition to those numbers, Tshiebwe averaged 17.4 points per game as well as 1.1 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.6 blocked shots per game.
Despite the opening round overtime upset loss of the NCAA Tournament, Tshiebwe played lights out scoring 30 points to go along with 16 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and two steals.
2. Johnny Davis
School: Wisconsin Badgers
The end of a short, storied career of Johnny Davis ended after the Wisconsin Badgers were eliminated from the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. Shortly after Davis announced he would forgo his final two years with the Badger and enter the NBA Draft.
Davis, who finished ranked 25th in the country in scoring averaging 19.7 points per game, also averaged 8.2 rebounds per game during his sophomore season.
Davis scored 22 points within the NCAA tournament to go along with 17 rebounds, two assists, four steals and five blocked shots. Davis showcased his ability to play on both ends of the floor making him an appealing option for NBA teams.
1. Keegan Murray
School: Iowa Hawkeyes
Rounding out the top spot of the best men’s college basketball players is the Iowa Hawkeyes sophomore forward Keegan Murray.
Murray who helped them to a 26-10 mark and a 4th place finish within the Big Ten also helped the team take home the Big Ten Tournament title with an impressive win over the Purdue Boilermakers.
The Hawkeyes forward finished ranked 4th in the country in scoring averaging 23.5 points per game while also ranking 37th in rebounds pulling in 8.7 rebounds per game. Much like many of the other top stars on this list, Murray elected to enter the NBA Draft as expectations are slotted for him to be a lottery pick during the June 23rd, 2022, NBA Draft.
