The final weekend of the 2023 MLB season has arrived as MLB teams fight for the final wild MLB Wild Card playoff spots. Meanwhile a handful of teams are still alive fighting for a chance to win their respective divisions after putting together strong MLB seasons this year. Headlining the list of the best baseball teams on the Top 10 Best MLB Teams 2023-2024 rankings list is the Atlanta Braves who are currently the only team entering play on September 28th, 2023, to have posted a 100 win season.

As the National League East division was expected to be one of the deeper divisions of baseball, the Braves ran away with the division while pushing a double digit win difference between the second place Philadelphia Phillies.

Meanwhile over in the American League the American League East has been possibly the best division at baseball for most of the season led currently by the Baltimore Orioles who currently have 99 wins and a chance at the division title. In addition to the Orioles having the best record in the American League, the Tampa Bay Rays who are also in that division have 97 wins while the Toronto Blue Jays have 87.

While the Braves and Orioles land at number one and two on the best teams in baseball, the two are joined by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, and the Texas Rangers among the top five. Here is a look at the Top 10 Baseball Teams 2023-2024 Rankings:

Seattle Mariners

Previous Ranking: Unranked

After making a push for the American League West division title last season, the Seattle Mariners remain alive for one of the final AL Wild Card position. The Mariners have been one of the more inconsistent teams around baseball despite posting 85 wins on the season.

Over the course of the season the Mariners posted two eight game winning streaks while also posting 15 three game or longer losing streaks. Nonetheless the Mariners are still alive as the season enters the final weekend of the 2023 MLB schedule. As a team the Mariners rank third in baseball while posting a 3.78 team earned run average mark.

Headlining the Mariners rotation was Luis Castillo who finished the season with a 3.20 earned run average with a team leading 14 wins and 215 strikeout’s. Leading the team at the plate is second year star Julio Rodriguez who finished with a .280 batting average mark with 31 home runs and 102 runs batted in.

Arizona Diamondbacks

Just missing the Top 10 Best MLB Teams 2023-2024 rankings list is the Arizona Diamondbacks who are currently sitting in second place in the NL West with four games remaining on the season.

The Diamondbacks have been one of the bigger surprises around baseball as they chase one of the final NL Wild Card positions. After finishing with just 74 wins last season, the Diamondbacks have jumped from a fourth place finish to finishing second within the division during the 2023 MLB season.

The future looks promising for the NL West club as NL Rookie of the Year candidate Corbin Carroll put together a tremendous rookie season while Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly combined to post a 29-15 overall record on the mound.

10. Houston Astros

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 MLB Teams 2023-2024 rankings is the Houston Astros who have dominated the AL West over the past four to five MLB seasons.

While their run as NL West division may come at the hands of the Texas Rangers during the 2023 MLB schedule, the team is still poised to make a deep MLB postseason run as one of the MLB Wild Card teams.

The Astros have been near the top 10 in both pitching and hitting all season long while currently holding the 10th best team earned run average mark at 4.00 on the season. Meanwhile at the plate the team is tied for 4th with a .259 batting average, 7th in home runs with 220, and 5th in runs batted in with 790.

9. Minnesota Twins

Entering the final four games of the 2023 MLB regular season the Minnesota Twins have locked up the AL Central division while building a 10 game lead over the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers.

The Twins have been stellar all season long while ranking among the best pitching staffs in baseball while allowing the 6th best mark at 3.87 over their first 158 games. That strong pitching led by Sonny Gray who posted an 8-8 record to go along with a 2.80 earned run average.

Only thing holding back the Twins among the best teams in baseball has been their lack of production at the plate while having zero players on their roster reach the 70 runs batted in mark and no player with 25 home runs.

Despite the struggles at the plate the Twins are heading to the postseason to fight for a chance to play for a World Series Championship.

8. Toronto Blue Jays

If it wasn’t for the Toronto Blue Jays playing in possibly the toughest division in all of baseball, the team may be fighting for a division title in three of the six total divisions.

Nonetheless the Blue Jays currently sit in third place in the American League East while sitting tied with the fourth best record in the league. While posting a dangerous lineup featuring Bo Bichette, George Springer, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, the Blue Jays success has been their pitching all season long including their bullpen.

Overall, the Blue Jays have the 2nd best team earned run in baseball while allowing just 3.74 earned runs per game. In addition, the team has posted the second most strikeouts (1,491) and 7th best WHIP (1.24) on the year. Overall, the Blue Jays currently have outscored their opponents by 68 runs this season.

7. Philadelphia Phillies

While written off during the early parts of the 2023 MLB season, the Philadelphia Phillies have stormed back to lock up one of the NL East Wild Card positions.

Entering the final four games of the regular season, the Phillies have been one of the hottest teams in all of baseball winning seven straight games as well as eight of their last 10 games to slide them into the MLB post season.

On the season the Phillies pitching staff has yielded a 4.02 earned run average mark while their lineup ranks 9th in baseball with a .256 team batting average. At the plate Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber have each posted at least 100 runs batted in while four players have posted at least 30 doubles and five players with at least 20 home runs.

Entering the playoffs, the red hot Phillies have the talent to reach the World Series for the second straight season.

6. Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers have secured the NL Central title as they prepare for their final four games of the regular season. While some of the top MLB teams have potent offenses, one thing is for certain and that is teams with great pitching staffs are often ranked among those teams as well.

Currently eight of the top 10 MLB teams in team earned run average have locked up playoff spots. This includes the Brewers who currently have the best earned run average mark in all of baseball with a 3.73 earned run average while also posting a 1.19 WHIP.

While the team is led by Freddy Peralta and Corbin Burnes who each posted at least 10 wins, the overall success on the mound has been a collective mark with nine total players posting at least five wins on the season.

At the plate the Brewers were led by Willy Adames who posted a team high 24 home runs and 78 runs while four other players posted at least 13 home runs.

5. Texas Rangers

Rounding out the Top 5 MLB teams landing on the Top 10 MLB Teams 2023-2024 rankings is the Texas Rangers who currently hold the top spot in the AL West Division.

The Rangers have been solid on the mound all season; however, their high powered offense has done most of the heavy lifting while ranking among the best overall offenses in baseball.

Currently the Rangers rank 2nd in all of baseball with a .265 batting average. In addition, the Rangers rank 3rd in runs (873), 2nd in doubles (324), 3rd in home runs (231), and third in on base percentage (.339).

As a team the Rangers currently have four players with at least 90 runs batted in while having two players with at least 30 home runs including Adolis Garcia. Garcia currently leads the team with 38 home runs and 106 runs batted in entering the final four games of the season.

4. Tampa Bay Rays

As you start to look at the success of the Tampa Bay Rays all season long you may start to think they have a roster loaded with All-Stars and top tier stars.

However, that isn’t the case and honestly over the past month of the season the Rays have been hit hard by injuries however the team continues to find the next player on their roster or their minor league roster to produce for the team.

Entering the final four games of the season the Rays are competing for another AL East title while fighting for the best overall record in baseball in the American League.

The Rays pitching staff currently ranks 5th in baseball in team earned run average with a 3.82 mark while the team’s offense ranks 4th in Major League Baseball with 837 runs scored.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers

Entering the season, the National League West was expected to feature three teams all with rosters to compete for the division title. Despite the hype only the Los Angeles Dodgers have prevailed as both the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres have struggled at times during the season.

The Dodgers join division rivals the Arizona Diamondbacks as two of the top teams in all of baseball with both teams potentially appearing in the MLB postseason.

The Dodgers have had their struggles on the mounds at times this season however their offense continues to rank among the best in the game. Led by Mookie Betts and Freddi Freeman who are both putting together MVP caliber seasons.

The Dodgers currently trail only the Atlanta Braves in runs scored with 889 while also ranking in the top five in doubles (300), home runs (243), and on base percentage (.341).

2. Baltimore Orioles

As the 2023 MLB season comes to an end the Baltimore Orioles are possible the best overall storyline in the game while potentially finishing the season with 100 wins.

As the team needs just one win to take home the AL East title, the Orioles are just a few seasons removed from posting multiple seasons with at least 100 losses.

Fast forward to the 2023 MLB Season the Orioles roster built around their youth including the likes of Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, and Grayson Rodriguez have helped the team post the best record in the American League.

As a team the Orioles bats have posted 304 doubles on the season to go along with 28 triples, 182 home runs and 773 runs batted in.

1. Atlanta Braves

It is just too hard not to slot the Atlanta Braves as the best team in MLB right now. The number one on the Top 10 Best MLB Teams 2023-2024 rankings finished the season with the best overall record.

The Braves have put together one of the best seasons on paper we have seen over the past 5-10 MLB seasons. This includes a pair of hitters who have both played their way into the NL MVP discussion.

Those two players are Ronald Acuna Jr who has made history becoming the first 40 home run, 70 stolen base player while Matt Olson has posted 53 home runs and 134 runs.

All in all, the Braves offense ranks among the best in baseball with nine players posting at least 20 doubles, five players posting at least 30 home runs, and three players posting at least 104 runs batted in.

Meanwhile on the mound the Braves have three players with at least 12 wins despite only having three starters posting at least 80 innings pitched.
