2023 MLB Draft Prospects

The action packed Major League Baseball calendar and schedule continues to roll along as the 2023 MLB All-Star Game as well as the 2023 MLB Draft has come and gone. While the All-Star game was loaded with young stars that are the current face of the game, the next wave of the future stars of Major League Baseball were drafted over the previous three nights as MLB teams looked to rebuild their minor league organizations. This includes the Top 10 MLB teams landing on the Top 10 MLB Draft Grades 2023 Rankings list who each put together impressive MLB draft classes this season.

Headlining the Top MLB Draft Grade is the San Francisco Giants who did not have a top 20 draft pick and did most of their damage by landing four of the top 50 players rated prior to the MLB draft including high school pitcher Bryce Eldridge. Joining the Giants on the list of the top draft grades from the 2023 MLB Draft is the Washington Nationals who landed one of the best all around players in the draft in outfielder Dylan Crews. In addition to the Giants and Nationals posting strong grades, the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, and Seattle Mariners round out the best grades of the 2023 MLB Draft. Here is a look at the Top 10 MLB Draft Grades 2023 Rankings.

Honorable Mention

Baltimore Orioles

MLB Draft Grade: B+

Notable Players Drafted: Enrique Bradfield Jr, Mac Horvath (OF), Levi Wells (P), Tanner Witt (P)

Landing just outside of the Top 10 MLB Draft Grades 2023 Rankings is the Baltimore Orioles who continue to have one of the top ranked MLB farm teams over the past few seasons.

After landing top MLB prospects Gunnar Henderson, Jackson Holliday, and Adley Rutschman over the past few drafts, the Orioles however did not hold a top five pick or even a top 15 this season but made the most of their picks by landing four players ranked in the Top 100 including talented outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr from Vanderbilt.

Bradfield Jr has the tools to be a strong MLB hitter with great plate discipline while also a plus defender as the future center fielder of the team. The team added 13 pitchers including Levi Wells while also taking eight positional players (5 outfielders, 2 shortstops, 1 catcher).

St. Louis Cardinals

MLB Draft Grade: B+

Notable Players Drafted: Chase Davis (OF), Travis Honeyman (OF), Quinn Mathews (P), Cameron Johnson (P)

The St. Louis Cardinals have had a history of drafting and developing talented MLB players each year and the same can be said about the 2023 St. Louis Cardinals draft picks.

The Cardinals landed four players inside of the top 100 including two top 50 draft prospects including Chase Davis and Cameron Johnson. While the team took a flyer on Johnson in the 20th round with expectations he will head to college, the move has a huge upside if they can find a way to sign him to an MLB deal.

The teams two top picks over the first three rounds Chase Davis and Travis Honeyman are both solid outfielders who have the potential to form a strong outfield in the future years. After those two picks the Cardinals added a skew of arms to their farm system including Jason Savacool and Quinn Mathews.
