The talent level across NCAA Football is loaded with strong talent all across the talent on both the offensive side and defensive side of the football.

As you start to look around at the top players in the country many are expected to be highly coveted players by NFL teams during the upcoming NFL Drafts. This includes the Top 10 Players landing on the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings January list. 

 

As you start to look at the Top 10 Players in College Football, it is difficult to slot each into a specific spot without debating it with a handful of other players who are well deserving.

In the end, the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings January list includes four quarterbacks, one offensive lineman, one defensive lineman, one tight end, one cornerback, and one wide receiver. Here is a look at the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings January.

Kelee Ringo

School: Georgia Bulldogs

Position: Cornerback
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Just missing the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings list is the Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Kelee Ringo.

Ringo is coming off his second year as one of the key members of the Bulldogs defense that helped lead their team to back-to-back championships.

The Bulldogs cornerback was all over the field this season posting 42 tackles to go along with seven passes defended, a forced fumble, and two interceptions. 




Nathaniel Dell

School: Houston Cougars

Position: Wide Receiver
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Possibly one of the first wide receivers to come off the board during the 2022 NFL Draft is the Houston Cougars wide receiver Nathaniel Dell.

Dell is a crafty speedy wide receiver who has the ability to get open on nearly any route. His speed and explosiveness showed up all season long as Dell finished the season ranked 2nd in receptions with 109 while also leading all of College Football with 1,398 receiving yards as well as 17 touchdown receptions.

On the year the Cougars receiver topped the 100-yard mark in six different contests with two touchdown receptions.

  • 10. Michael Mayer

    School: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

    Position: Tight End
    Previous Ranking: Unranked

    Landing at number 10 on the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings list is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish talented tight end Michael Mayer.

    Mayer, who projects to be the first tight end selected during the 2023 NFL Draft has all the physical tools to be a real asset in the NFL.

    The Fighting Irish tight end finished 3rd among all tight ends in receiving yards with 817, 2nd in receptions with 67, and first in touchdowns with 9. The 6-foot 4-inch tight end is a red zone threat and game changer every game he suited up. 




    9. Paris Johnson Jr.

    School: Ohio State Buckeyes

    Position: Left Tackle
    Previous Ranking: Unranked

    Offensive lineman often get overshadowed and overlooked as some of the best players in all of college football throughout the season.

    Luckily though for the best left tackles as well as best offensive lineman though do get recognition as the NFL Draft approaches.

    One of those left tackles that are worth mentioning with the best players in college football is the Ohio State Buckeyes starting left tackle Paris Johnson.

    Johnson has the size and athletic ability to be a great tackle for the years to come in the NFL. During the 2022 NCAA Football season, the Buckeyes tackle allowed just one sack over 12 games played.




    8. Stetson Bennett

    School: Georgia Bulldogs

    Position: Quarterback
    Previous Ranking: Unranked

    Nothing you can take away from this walk on football player to Co-MVP of the 2022 NCAA Football Championship Game Stetson Bennett.

    While Bennett is older than most of the other elite quarterbacks in the NFL at 25 years old, it doesn’t take away from his ability on the football field playing one of the most difficult positions on the field.

    The Georgia Bulldogs quarterback finished the season throwing for 4,127 yards to go along with 27 touchdown passes to just seven interceptions.

    This includes a throw for 712 yards and seven touchdown passes during the team’s running through the College Football Playoffs.




    7. Drake Maye

    School: North Carolina Tar Heels

    Position: Quarterback
    Previous Ranking: #3

    One freshman landing on the list of the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings list is the North Carolina Tar Heels freshman quarterback Drake Maye.

    Maye, who is from Huntersville, North Carolina was as good as nearly every quarterback in college football across the 2022 NFL schedule.

    May finished the year ranked 4th among all passers with 4,321 yards while also throwing the 5th most passing touchdowns with 38 total.

    Over the season Maye threw for at least three touchdowns in eight different games, while three of those games featured five touchdown passes.




    6. Jalen Carter

    School: Georgia Bulldogs

    Position: Defensive Lineman
    Previous Ranking: Unranked

    All you have to do is flip back to the National Championship Game between the TCU Horned Frogs and Georgia Bulldogs to see how good Jalen Carter is and how good the entire team's defense is together.

    That said Carter headlines a pretty impressive group of defensive lineman heading towards the 2023 NFL Draft while also ranking among the best defensive players in all of College Football. 

    While the statistics might not stand out, game film will deliver as Carter demands double teams and extra attention allowing other top teammates to make plays.




    5. Bijan Robinson

    School: Texas Longhorns

    Position: Running Back
    Previous Ranking: #4

    Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings list is the Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson.

    The Longhorn’s running back is one of the most explosive players in the country and one of the biggest game changers at any offensive position on the field.

    Robinson finished the 2022 NCAA Football season rushing for 1,580 yards on 258 carries while adding 18 rushing touchdowns.

    In addition, Robinson posted career highs in receiving yards with 314 and yards per catch average with 16.5 per reception.




    4. Bryce Young

    School: Alabama Crimson Tide

    Position: Quarterback
    Previous Ranking: #2

    All eyes down the stretch was on the group of talented quarterbacks that were taking center stage around college football.

    One of those quarterbacks is the Alabama Crimson Tide former Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young. Young is coming off 3,328 yards passing, 32 touchdown passes and five interceptions this year while leading the Crimson Tide to an 11-2 record.

    Despite dealing with an injured shoulder that forced him to miss the team’s game against the Texas A&M Aggies, Young still ranked among the best performers on the offensive side of the football.




    3. Will Anderson Jr.

    School: Alabama Crimson Tide

    Position: Outside Linebacker
    Previous Ranking: #4

    All we know for certain heading into the 2023 NCAA Football schedule is the Alabama Crimson Tide will have some huge voids to fill with Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr leaving for the NFL. 

    Anderson, who like many defensive lineman around the game gets overlooked, is as big of a game changer as any around college football.

    On the year Anderson Jr racked up 51 tackles including 10 sacks while also posting one interception returned for a touchdown.




    2. C.J. Stroud

    School: Ohio State Buckeyes

    Position: Quarterback
    Previous Ranking: #1

    When it comes to the top two players on the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings list it was a difficult decision on which player would land at number one.

    In the end the Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback lands at number two while nearly guiding the team to the National Championship game.

    C.J. Stroud who is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks selected during the 2023 NFL Draft finished the season ranked 13th in passing yards with 3,688, 2nd in passing touchdowns with 41 while throwing only six interceptions.




    1. Caleb Williams

    School: USC Trojans

    Position: Quarterback
    Previous Ranking: #3

    In the end when you take home the 2022 Heisman Trophy Award it is hard to look past you as the best player in the country and the person that ultimately ranks at the top of the Top 10 NCAA Football Players 2023 rankings list.

    Williams, who elected to follow Lincoln Riley this season to the USC Trojans was rewarded with a stellar season and some amazing hardware to prove it.

    The sophomore quarterback from Washington DC finished ranked 3rd in passing yards with 4,537, 1st in passing touchdowns with 42 and 5th in QBR with an 87.6 mark.

    Williams was also a game changer on the ground adding 382 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns for the explosive Trojans offense.
