MLB Best Prospects Rankings of 2024

The game of baseball has never looked as bright as Major League Baseball is loaded with talent including a great core of young stars that are slowly putting their mark on the game. As familiar faces such as Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and Bryce Harper continue to produce and second year stars Gunnar Henderson and Corbin Carroll look to build on impressive rookie seasons, the next wave of MLB prospects are loaded with talent including the likes of Jackson Holliday of the Baltimore Orioles and Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Each of these talented prospect’s land at the one and two spot among the Top 10 MLB Prospects 2024 Rankings list.

Sitting at the top of these baseball rankings is the now current Baltimore Orioles starting second baseman Holliday who was recently called up and made his MLB Debut on Wednesday April 12th, 2024, against the Boston Red Sox. Prior to being called up Holliday was red hot for the Orioles AAA affiliate the Norfolk Tides.

Meanwhile Skenes highlighted his talent potential all spring training long including striking out Holliday as the team met in one of the most anticipated matchups of spring training.

Joining Holliday and Skenes among the top prospects to start the 2024 MLB Season includes a pair of Texas Rangers outfielders in Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter as well as the Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jackson Chourio.

Here is a look at the Top 10 MLB Prospects 2024 Rankings:

Honorable Mention

Max Clark

Team: Detroit Tigers

Position: Outfielder

Just missing the 10 MLB Prospects 2024 Rankings list is another former 2023 MLB Draft pick Max Clark of the Detroit Tigers. Clark, who was selected by the Tigers with the third overall pick, was one of many high school baseball players to be highly coveted by MLB teams during the draft.

Over a limited time, last season Clark saw action in 23 games picking up five doubles, one triple and two home runs over just 85 at bats.

While his production is off to a slow start this season the 19-year-old outfielder has all the tools to become an everyday stud for the Tigers for the years to come.

Colson Montgomery

Team: Chicago White Sox

Position: Shortstop

Knocking on the doorsteps of the Chicago White Sox MLB roster is the team’s star shortstop prospect Colson Montgomery who was selected during the 2021 MLB Draft.

Montgomery is a tremendous defensive field shortstop who has great plate awareness and great discipline. This has been on full display over the past few seasons as the White Sox prospect has picked up 54 and 56 walks in each of the past two seasons.

Over 14 games to start the 2024 Minor League Baseball schedule, Montgomery has picked up 15 hits over 57 at bats including three doubles and two home runs while walking six times.

Top 10 MLB Prospects 2024 Rankings

10. Ethan Salas

Team: San Diego Padres

Sliding in at number 10 on the 10 MLB Prospects 2024 Rankings is the San Diego Padres top catching prospect Ethan Salas.

Salas, who will not be 18 till June 1 of this summer, is a former international free agent who signed with the Padres during the 2023 international free agent signing period.

Last season across high A ball, AA, and A ball the Padres prospect posted 13 doubles, nine home runs and drove in 41 runs across just 254 at bats all while being just 17 years old. The future is bright for the Padres catcher as he continues to develop into an everyday MLB talent.

9. Jordan Lawlar

Team: Arizona Diamondbacks

Position: Shortstop

After a brief stop in the Majors during the 2023 MLB season, Jordan Lawlar is ready to continue developing into an everyday short stop for a very talented and young Arizona Diamondbacks roster.

Unfortunately to start the 2024 MLB season and Minor League Baseball Season, the Diamondbacks fans and baseball fans as a whole will have to wait as Lawlar required surgery on his right thumb he injured during spring training which has delayed his start of the 2024 season.

Look for Lawlar to bounce back and get rolling as soon as he gets back on the baseball diamond.

8. Dylan Crews

Team: Washington Nationals

Position: Outfielder

Like his former LSU Tigers teammate Paul Skenes, Dylan Crews ranks among the best prospects in Major League Baseball while knocking on the door of a trip to the majors.

Team: Milwaukee Brewers

Position: Outfielder

Like four of the other top prospects landing on the Top 5 best prospects in baseball, Jackson Chourio has locked down a role on the Milwaukee Brewers major league club early during the 2024 MLB season.

Chourio, who posted a stellar season between AA and AAA levels last season for the Brewers finished last season with 22 home runs, 26 doubles, and 91 runs combined over the two leagues in 583 at bats.

Through 12 games to start the 2024 MLB season, Chourio has picked up 12 hits including one double and two home runs while driving in nine runs over 50 at bats. Over two full seasons in the minors the Brewers top prospect continued to show power and potential to be a top run producer for the parent club.

3. Evan Carter

Team: Texas Rangers

Position: Outfielder

As you start to look around the top prospects in all of Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers have multiple players including both Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter.

Each of these two talented players are well deserving of a mention with both making the opening day roster and playing a role in the team’s success to start the season. Carter has played well to start the season picking up 12 hits over his first 49 at bats including five doubles and two home runs.

Skenes wrapped up a stellar collegiate career helping the LSU Tigers win a National Championship as well as winning the National Pitcher of the Year Award.

After five starts last season within the Pirates organization, Skenes was brilliant during spring training including picking up a highly anticipated strikeout against the Baltimore Orioles top prospect Jackson Holliday.

Over three starts in the minors this season at the AAA level, Skenes has not allowed a run over 9.1 innings of work while striking out 19 of 28 batters he has faced this spring.

1. Jackson Holliday

Team: Baltimore Orioles

Position: Second Baseman/Shortstop

In at number on the 10 MLB Prospects 2024 Rankings list is the Baltimore Orioles top prospect and former top overall pick during the 2022 MLB Draft Jackson Holliday.
