Who is the best Right Fielder in Baseball?

The 2026 Major League Baseball season is in full swing, and while it’s still too early to determine end of season awards and team performances, we are starting to get a much clearer picture of how things are going.

At the right field position, that means that some big time stars are starting to separate themselves, and while No. 1 has been obvious for a long time, there’s plenty of young stars ascending at the RF spot. With plenty of intriguing names off to great starts, there’s more than 10 players contending for a spot on this list, but through the first 40 games of the season, this is how things have panned out.

Honorable Mention

Fernando Tatis Jr.

Team: San Diego Padres

Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the most exciting players in all of baseball, and after coming up as a shortstop, he’s turned himself into one of the best right fielders in the game. However, the power has completely disappeared in 2026, with no home runs through his first 132 plate appearances, and while he’s driven in 13 runs, the power has always been a key piece to his game.

In every season in which he’s played 80 or more games, Tatis has hit over 20 big flies, but with the OPS falling to a staggering .607, it’s unclear what’s going wrong this season. Still, with the defensive impact and the speed, he remains a very good player, and if he bounces back, he would likely end the 2026 campaign fully on this top-10 list.

Kyle Tucker

Team: Los Angeles Dodgers

This past winter, Kyle Tucker was one of baseball’s most sought after free agents, and unsurprisingly, he chose to join the loaded Los Angeles Dodgers lineup for record breaking money. However, the start to his career in LA hasn’t gone as well as many had expected, with an average of just .252 meaning he may be taking a step back after a fantastic career in Houston.

With 19 runs driven in, there’s a good chance that it’s only a matter of time until he bounces back in a big way, and with an OPS of .733, it’s clear that even in a down year, he’s still a solid hitter. For now, Tucker is still a top player at the position, and while the pressure in LA has clearly effected him early, by seasons end, he’s likely to have some great numbers once again.

10. Jo Adell

Team: Los Angeles Angels

Defensively, there’s very few players in Major League Baseball that are as exciting as Jo Adell, with his three-home run robbery game defining the 2026 MLB season thus far. Offensively, Adell had a career year last season, and in 2026, he’s been just as good, posting 4 home runs and 21 RBI through the first 38 games of the season.

The .649 OPS suggests that he may not be the consistent power bat that his 2025 campaign suggested, but with great defense, the 27-year old is finally hitting his stride. Only time will tell if he can be this good throughout his career, but right now, he’s earned his place on a list of top-10 right fielders in baseball.

9. Ryan O’Hearn

Team: Pittsburgh Pirates

This past winter, the Pittsburgh Pirates did something that they rarely do, and that’s spend big money on a free agent, bringing in veteran right fielder Ryan O’Hearn in the process. At 32-years of age, some believed his prime was gone, but through his first 35 games this season, he may be set up for a career year in his 9th season in the Majors.

In 126 at bats, O’Hearn has hit 5 home runs and driven in 24 runs, and with an OPS of .833, he’s become an incredibly consistent bat in the middle of the Pirates lineup. This may be a simple hot start that fizzles out for O’Hearn, but after showing flashes throughout his career, all signs are pointing to a career year for what has been a very good player across his career.

8. Seiya Suzuki

Team: Chicago Cubs

Seiya Suzuki came to North America with plenty of hype, and thus far, he’s done nothing but deliver for the Chicago Cubs in his four full seasons at the Major League level. Last season, he delivered career highs of 32 home runs and 103 runs driven in, and with another 6 home runs through just 24 games this season, the power stroke is here to stay.

On top of that, the OPS of .945 certainly suggests that he can be a top-tier power hitter at the MLB level, and at 31-years of age, he’s likely in his prime right now. The DWAR of 0.0 suggests he’s a solid defender as well, and in the middle of a loaded Cubs lineup, it’s likely that he can put together another fantastic campaign in 2026.

7. Wilyer Abreu

Team: Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have struggled mightily in 2026, and while they’ve turned a corner in recent times, this is still a team that sits well under .500 as we enter the middle of May. However, there have been some bright spots, with 26-year old Wilyer Abreu being arguably the biggest for a team that needs a major spark in their lineup.

After improving in 2024 and 2025, Abreu is once again taking a step forward in 2026, with 5 home runs and 16 RBI through his first 36 games suggesting he’s on paace for career highs. This all comes with a DWAR of 0.6, leading all right fielders in baseball, and if he can find the power stroke consistently, he could be on this list for a long time to come.

6. Chase DeLauter

Team: Cleveland Guardians

As the years go by, rookies begin to make a larger and larger impact immediately in Major League Baseball, and in 2026, Chase DeLauter has hit the ground running for the Cleveland Guardians. Despite having just 120 at bats under his belt, DeLauter has clubbed 6 home runs and driven in 23 runs, with the OPS of .941 ranking near the top at the position in baseball.

With a .308 average, there’s no reason to suggest that DeLauter will take a step back in any way throughout his rookie year, but it’s a long season for a 24-year old. If DeLauter keeps these numbers up, he could be a top RF in baseball for a long time to come, and right now, he’s a favorite for Rookie of the Year in the American League.

5. Ronald Acuna Jr.

Team: Atlanta Braves

Ronald Acuna Jr. has had a horror run with injury in recent times, as he has played in 100 or more games just twice since the 2020 campaign. However, when he’s healthy, he’s an absolute star in every way, hitting for contact and power while playing great defense and bringing total chaos on the base paths.

While he’s currently out, Acuna has been good once again in 2026, and while he has just 2 home runs and 9 RBI, he remains a very good player at the Major League level. The OPS of .740 certainly needs work, but given that he’s working his way back from injury and has now gone down again, the numbers may not reflect just how good he still is in 2026.

4. James Wood

Team: Washington Nationals

2025 was the first full season in the career of slugger James Wood, and right off the bat, the Washington Nationals star established himself as one of the premiere power bats in Major League Baseball. After just 79 career games before 2025, he slugged 31 home runs and drove in 91 runs, but in 2026, it appears that the 23-year old may be taking a step forward.

Through his first 37 games, Wood has hit 10 big flies while driving in 27 runs with an .893 OPS, and now he’s not only a top-tier right fielder, but he’s one of the top power bats in the sport. Clearly the defense could use work, as his DWAR of -0.6 is one of the worst in baseball at the position, but given how successful the bat has been, he’s solidified himself around the top of this list.

3. Corbin Carroll

Team: Arizona Diamondbacks

When you look up the term ‘electric’ in the baseball dictionary, there’s no one that defines better than Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who has speed, power, defensive prowess and great contact skills. Last year, Carroll had career highs in home runs (31) and RBI (84) with 32 steals, his third straight year with 30 or more, and early in 2026, it appears as though he’s ready to take another step forward.

In 33 games, Carroll has hit 4 home runs and driven in 19 runs, and with an OPS of .842, he’s firmly established himself as one of the best overall outfielders in baseball. 2025 may end up being the best offensive season of Carroll’s career, but at the age of 25, it’s safe to say that he’s got a long, successful career ahead of him still.

2. Jordan Walker

Team: St. Louis Cardinals

Once upon a time, Jordan Walker was seen as one of baseball’s top overall prospects, but early in his MLB career with the St. Louis Cardinals, he’s struggled to find it. In 111 games a year ago, Walker hit just .215 with 6 home runs and 41 RBI, but in 2026, he’s already improved in a massive way, slugging 10 bombs with 27 RBI while also posting an OPS of .956.

On the defensive side, he’s also taken a major leap, as his DWAR of 0.2 ranks third among right fielders in baseball, showing how balanced his game has become. At 23-years of age, Walker is no where near his prime, and after the start he’s had to 2026, we may finally be seeing a former top prospect finally find his potential at the big league level.

1. Aaron Judge

Team: New York Yankees

For a long time, Aaron Judge has been one of, if not the best players in all of baseball, and on the back of three AL MVP awards in the past four seasons, that truth remains in 2026. While he’s now 34-years of age, the power isn’t slowing down, as he clubbed his Major League leading 15th home run on May 6th, as he once again firms as favorite for the Most Valuable Player award.

On top of that, Judge has driven in 28 runs and sits first in OPS among right fielders with a 1.066 mark, and with good defense in right, he remains the undisputed No. 1 on this list. Only time will tell how long Judge can hold on to his position as the best pure position player in baseball, but for now, it’s hard to dispute just how consistently dominant he’s been for years.
