Who is the best Right Fielder in Baseball?

The end of another calendar month has arrived as the 2024 MLB schedule rolls into August leaving just two months remaining on what has been an exciting action-packed season. As you start to look around at the best players in all of baseball including at the right fielder position, Juan Soto of the New York Yankees is one player who was well worth the pickup during the off-season. Soto, who is in his first season with the Yankees while working on continuing to build a resume worth a huge pay day after the off-season, lands atop the Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings list.

Soto, who was acquired by the Yankees in December of 2023 for a package of four players, is off to another great season while helping the Yankees to remain near the top of the American League East division.

Still just 25-years old, Soto currently leads all right fielders in hits (121), batting average (.309), and runs batted in (77). The strong first 106 games of the season have now pushed Soto career batting average to a .287 mark while reaching 187 career home runs with 200 in sight during the current MLB season.

Joining Soto among the best right fielders in the game of baseball includes the Baltimore Orioles Anthony Santander, Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros, Alec Burleson of the St. Louis Cardinals, and Seiya Suzuki of the Chicago Cubs.

Here is a look at the Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings.

Honorable Mention

Hunter Renfroe

Team: Kansas City Royals

Just missing the Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings list is the Kansas City Royals right fielder Hunter Renfroe.

The veteran right fielder who is in his first season with the Royals has delivered a veteran presence both at the plate as well as in the field while helping the Royals to compete for an American League playoff position.

Over 88 games this season, the 32-year-old right fielder is batting .236 through 271 at bats this season including picking up 16 doubles and 11 home runs while driving in 32 runs. Through 929 career games played, Renfroe has picked up 188 total home runs while driving in 496 runs.

Wilyer Abreu

Team: Boston Red Sox

The 25-year-old right fielder has taken over the everyday role at right fielder in his first full season with the Boston Red Sox. Wilyer Abreu, who appeared in 28 games last season, has appeared in 81 games this season in his rookie season while picking up 251 career at bats this season.

The Red Sox rookie is currently batting .267 to start the season while picking up 67 total hits over those 251 at bats.

Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings

10. Fernando Tatis Jr.

Fernando-Tatis

Team: San Diego Padres

Sliding in at number 10 on the Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings list is the San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr.

While Tatis Jr has yet to return to the form from the 2021 MLB season in which he posted 42 home runs and drove in 97 runs, the Padres outfielder has however been strong in 80 games this season.

Over those 80 games, Tatis Jr is currently batting .279 while ranking third among all right fielders in batting average. Helping to produce the high batting average, Tatis Jr has added 14 doubles, one triple and 14 home runs.

9. Lane Thomas

Team: Cleveland Guardians

When you are sitting with the best record in all of baseball with a .607 winning percentage (65-42) through the end of July, it is easy to understand the team is loaded with talented players.

That is the case with the Cleveland Guardians who currently have a six-game lead over the Minnesota Twins within the American League Central. One of those talented players is the 28-year-old right fielder Lane Thomas who the team acquired at the trade deadline to deliver the team an everyday right fielder.

Prior to joining the Guardians, Thomas had appeared in 77 games with the Washington Nationals picking up 76 hits over 300 at bats including 16 doubles, three triples and eight home runs while driving in 40. To go along with the hits, Thomas has posted 28 stolen bases while also scoring 42 runs in just 77 total games.

8. Jackson Chourio

Team: Milwaukee Brewers

The youngest player at the Major League level, Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers is putting together a strong rookie season while showcasing his talents to rank among the best players in baseball.

Chourio who is in his first full season in the Majors is just 20 years old while appearing in 95 games during his rookie season. Through 95 games, Chourio is batting .274 while sitting sixth among all right fielders in batting average over his first 317 at bats this season.

Through those at bats the Brewers right fielder has picked up 15 doubles and 12 home runs while driving in 44 runs. In addition, Chourio has showcased his speed posting 12 steals while also scoring 48 runs on the season.

7. Adolis Garcia

Adolis-Garcia

Team: Texas Rangers

After three straight big seasons for the Texas Rangers, Adolis Garcia is off to a slower start to the 2024 MLB season after posting a career season last year.

Garcia who posted 39 home runs and 107 runs batted in last season has not seen the same type of production to start the season, however the Rangers outfielder is still on pace to top the 20 double and 25 home run mark for the fourth straight MLB season.

Through 104 games, Garcia is currently hitting just .210 on the year while picking up 16 doubles and 18 home runs while driving in 54 runs. The .210 batting average marks the first time since taking over full-time duties with the Rangers, Garcia has failed to produce at least a .240 mark.

6. Nick Castellanos

Team: Philadelphia Phillies

The 11-year MLB veteran continues to pick up hits while producing at a high level for the first place Philadelphia Phillies this season. As Nick Castellanos is set to complete his 11 MLB season with at least 110 games played, the Phillies right fielder has posted a .241 batting average over his first 415.

Castellanos, who has 225 career home runs and 819 runs batted in over his first 1491 games played, has continued that production this season. Through 415 at bats, the Phillies outfielder has picked up 20 doubles and 15 home runs while driving in 57 runs.

The 20 doubles mark the fourth straight season to reach the feat and 10th overall time during his career. The Phillies right fielder currently ranks third in hits (100), third in doubles, and tied for seventh in home runs among all right fielders.

5. Seiya Suzuki

Team: Chicago Cubs

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings is the Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki. In his third season with the Cubs, Suzuki has emerged as one of the most reliable players on a Cubs team that has struggled to produce consistency over the past few seasons.

While Suzuki has missed time during the 2024 MLB season limiting to 84 total games, the Cubs outfielder has made the most of his playing time picking up 88 hits over his first 326 at bats including 18 doubles, three triples, and 15 home runs. In addition, Suzuki has posted 46 runs scored while driving in 52 runs on the season.

4. Alec Burleson

Team: St. Louis Cardinals

While the top three right fielders all have made a case to take home a Silver Slugger Award at the position, one lesser-known commodity who is emerging as a fresh young face of the National League is Alec Burleson of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Burleson who is just 25 years old is in his second full time stint with the Cardinals after appearing in 107 games last season.

In 101 games this season, Burleson has already surpassed his totals from last season including posting a .281 batting average through his first 101 games while picking up 103 total hits including 14 doubles and 18 home runs to go along with 63 runs batted in.

Through the end of July, the Cardinals outfielder currently ranks third in runs batted in, tied for fourth in home runs, and second in hits among all right fielders.

3. Kyle Tucker

Team: Houston Astros

As you start to look around Major League Baseball, one right fielder that might get overlooked down the stretch is the Houston Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker. Tucker, who has been out since early June with a shin injury is looking to return to the field at some point during the 2024 MLB season.

Despite appearing in just 60 games this season, Tucker continues to rank among the leaders among MLB right fielders including sitting in third with 19 home runs while also sitting tied with 40 runs batted in.

Prior to his injury Tucker was on his way to his third season with at least 30 home runs while potentially crossing the 100 runs mark for the third straight season. Nonetheless when healthy Tucker has shown he is as good as any right fielder in baseball.

2. Anthony Santander

Team: Baltimore Orioles

One American League team looking to make a run at a World Series run during the 2024 MLB season is the Baltimore Orioles who currently lead the American League East.

The same Orioles team that currently leads all Major League Baseball in home runs with 171 through their first 109 games played. Leading the way for the Orioles is Anthony Santander who is putting together his best season in the majors through 104 total games.

Currently Santander is batting .248 on the season with 17 doubles, two triples, 31 home runs and 73 runs batted in. On the season Santander currently leads all right fielders in home runs, ranks third in WAR (2.6), and second in runs batted in (73).

1. Juan Soto

Juan-Soto

Team: New York Yankees

In atop the Top 10 MLB Right Fielders 2024 Rankings list is the New York Yankees prized off-season acquisition Juan Soto. Soto, who is one of the best all around baseball players in the game, has continued his early career success while delivering the big bat to a team looking to make a deep run at a World Series title.

As play is set to open the calendar month of August during the 2024 MLB schedule, Soto currently ranks fifth in all of MLB with a .309 batting average, tied for sixth in home runs (27), and tied for fourth in runs batted in (77).

Through 106 games, Soto also currently leads all right fielders in each of those statistics as well as holding a 3.0 advantage over the next best right fielder with a 6.6 WAR while Kyle Tucker sits at 3.6. It is easy to see why the Yankees traded away multiple prospects for the potential one-year All-Star rental.
