Honorable Mention

Tyson Campbell

Team: Cleveland Browns

Despite missing the Top 10 Best Cornerbacks in NFL 2025 Rankings list, it is hard to look past what Tyson Campbell brings to the field each week.

After starting the season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Campbell has settled in strong within the Cleveland Browns secondary. Overall through eight games with the two clubs, the former 2021 NFL Draft second round pick has posted 46 total tackles to go along with two forced fumbles, one interception with that one interception being returned for a touchdown, and 10 passes defensed.

While he’s not putting up gaudy interception numbers, Campbell’s sticky coverage opposite some of the league’s top wideouts has limited big plays and helped the Browns defense. His ball skills and closing speed have prevented chunk gains, while his leadership steadies a young, ascending cornerback room.

Jamel Dean

Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Another cornerback worthy of a mention among the best in the NFL is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean.

Dean, who enters week 10 tied among all cornerbacks for the NFL lead with three interceptions has been an anchor all season for the Buccaneers secondary. Posting his best season to date, Dean has also added 24 total tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles and six passes defensed through his first seven games of the season. In addition to those numbers, Dean has allowed just 18.8 percent of his targeted receivers to get open, a 45.5 percent completion percentage against him, and a league best 22.8 passer rating against him this season.

Dean’s footwork and anticipation make him a dark horse to watch through the back half of the season.

Top 10 NFL Cornerbacks 2025 Rankings

10. Tarheeb Still

Team: Los Angeles Chargers

Knocking out the ten best cornerbacks on the Top 10 Best Cornerbacks in NFL 2025 rankings list is the Los Angeles Chargers Tarheeb Still.

After sliding into the starting role mid-season during his rookie season last year, Still has made a name for himself among the games best. While the interceptions have yet to show up on the stat line this season, Still has been strong posting 31 tackles to go along with six passes defensed through eight games played.

Despite posting 31.2 percent of his pass coverage against number one receivers, Still has allowed just 12 receiving yards in man coverage on the season. His knack for timing, rarely interfering yet consistently getting a hand in has flipped crucial third downs for a Chargers team fighting for playoff relevancy.

Still’s footwork and anticipation will be missed down the stretch while missing time with a MCL sprain.

9. A.J. Terrell Jr

Team: Atlanta Falcons

A.J. Terrell Jr has quietly continued feeding his All-Pro reputation, serving as Atlanta’s top coverage ace amidst a defensive rebuild.

While injuries have limited Terrell Jr to just six games on the season, the talented cornerback was putting together another strong season posting 26 tackles and four passes defensed to start the season. The Atlanta Falcons cornerback has been targeted just 11.2 percent of his coverage snaps while leading the position in fewest number of yards per coverage snap at just .4 yards on 100 plus snaps this season.

Whether up against larger X receivers or twitchy slot guys, Terrell’s discipline and vision stand out.

8. Christian Gonzalez

Team: New England Patriots

Emerging as one of the fresh young stars of the NFL, Christian Gonzalez is not only climbing the ranks among the best cornerbacks but also ranking among the best latino players in the league.

While battling injuries to start the 2025 NFL season, Gonzalez has made the most of his time through six games posting 29 total tackles to go along with five passes defensed while helping the New England Patriots battle for the AFC North title. Over the start of the season, Gonzales has been targeted just 20.3 percent of snaps while in man coverage while limiting opposing quarterbacks to a 45.1 completion percentage mark on those pass attempts.

His blend of size, recovery speed, and ball-tracking has buoyed a Patriots defense otherwise battling injuries and inconsistency all autumn.

7. Deommodore Lenoir

Team: San Francisco 49ers

A name that has gone under the radar all season at the cornerback position is Deommodore Lenoir of the San Francisco 49ers.

Entering last weekend’s contest the Lenoir ranked among the top five cornerbacks in the NFL according to most of the Next Gen Stats provided by the NFL including allowing the second fewest number of yards per coverage snap as well as allowing zero catches on passes of at least 16 yards.

f the Niners’ reputation is toughness, then Lenoir is its poster child in the secondary. The former fifth-rounder has amassed 31 tackles, posted one interception, and broken up three passes already this season. Lenoir’s aggressive tackling and smart leverage have shut down perimeter throws and bubble screens, vital for a defense built to punish mistakes.

6. DJ Turner II

Team: Cincinnati Bengals

The third year cornerback is finally taking the next step forward after posting two strong seasons to start his NFL career.

While the Cincinnati Bengals defense has struggled all season, DJ Turner II has done everything in his power to limit the threat. Through nine games on the season, Turner II has posted two interceptions while leading the NFL with 14 passes defensed.

In addition to the 14 passes defensed, the Bengals cornerback has posted 23 tackles to go along with one stuff at the line of scrimmage. Despite battling an oblique injury, the Texans cornerback has allowed just a 33.3% completion percentage in press coverage and 15.3 passer rating this season. Stingley’s ball skills and fluid hips continue to torment quarterbacks and cement Houston’s transformation into a playoff-worthy threat.

4. Quinyon Mitchell

Team: Philadelphia Eagles

Handed the unenviable task of taking on the league’s toughest receivers, Quinyon Mitchell has handled the job like a seasoned pro, despite being just in his second year.

This has been on full display all season including in pivotal showdowns against top receivers CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson while holding them to just two catches and 23 total yards.

Armed with blazing recovery speed and physical press coverage, Mitchell has formed a dynamic duo with fellow 2024 NFL draft pick Cooper DeJean. Mitchell has made Philadelphia’s pass defense among the league’s most formidable, giving fans hope for another deep postseason run.

3. Trent McDuffie

Team: Kansas City Chiefs

Despite the struggles of the Kansas City Chiefs defense at times during the 2025 NFL season, Trent McDuffie continues to be the team’s best overall defender.

Even more impressive, allowing just over five yards per reception on the season while also dominating in press coverage in just over 40 percent of pass coverage plays this season.

2. Sauce Gardner

Team: Indianapolis Colts

Easily, another top cornerback who continues to showcase his all around play and knack to shut down opposing top wide receivers is the newly acquired Indianapolis Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner.

Entering Week 9 of the season, the former New York Jets cornerback had allowed just 16 completions on 37 targets in his direction while posting a 52% percent of forced tight window throws. It is not often you see a talent like Gardner traded midseason, for Gardner now he gets a fresh new start in a playoff race to showcase his talent with the Colts over the second half of the 2025 NFL season.

1. Pat Surtain II

Team: Denver Broncos
