The football action on the gridiron around college football is loaded with talented playmakers on both sides of the ball. This includes on the offensive side of the ball where offenses continue to get more explosive year in and year out while quarterbacks continue to put up big passing numbers each week. As you start to look around at the top wide receivers in college football, the top of the class are all game changers who have the ability to make a big play on any throw. This includes the Ohio State Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. who lands at the top of the Top 10 Best Wide Receivers in College Football 2023 Rankings list.

The Buckeyes wide receiver who landed as one of the 2023 Heisman Trophy nominees, put together another strong season while ranking the leaders in receiving yards and touchdown receptions.

While his production does not rank at the top it is hard to look past Harrison Jr as the top receiver while requiring building new chemistry with the team’s new starting quarterback.

The production does not stop there as First-Team All SEC wide receiver Malik Nabers and First-Team All PAC-12 wide receiver Rome Odunze are right on his heels while playing in top tier passing attacks.

Joining those three among the best wide receivers in college football include Tory Franklin of the Oregon Ducks and Malik Washington of the Virginia Cavaliers. Here is a look at the Top 10 Best Wide Receivers in College Football 2023 Rankings:

Honorable Mention

Brenden Rice

School: USC Trojans

Just missing the Top 10 Best Wide Receiver Rankings in College Football list is the USC Trojans wide receiver Brenden Rice.

Rice, who put together his second season with the Trojans became a touchdown target for Caleb Williams all season while using his size at 6 foot 3 inches to his advantage.

Rice capped off his senior season posting career highs in receptions (45), receiving yards (791), average yards per reception (17.6), and touchdown receptions (12).

CJ Daniels

School: Liberty Flames

The Liberty Flames might not get the recognition as other top power houses, but the team capped off an impressive season while CJ Daniels was a viable weapon within the offense while leading the team to a 13-0 regular season.

Daniels put together his best season with the Flames nearly reaching the 1,000 yard mark (988) while ranking among the leaders while averaging 21 yards per catch over the course of the season.

The Flames wide receiver also added 10 touchdown receptions and a career high 47 receptions over the course of the season.

Top 10 College Wide Receivers 2023

10. Jalen Royals

School: Utah State Aggies

Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 Best Wide Receivers in College Football 2023 Rankings list is the Utah State Aggies Jalen Royals. Emerging as a key weapon within the Aggies offense this season, Royals posted 68 catches for 1,023 yards to go along with 14 touchdown receptions.

After spending time with the Boise State Broncos last year and the Georgia Military College in 2021, Royals had the first opportunity of his career to produce, and he did not look back while emerging as the teams top playmaker.

In addition, the strong season has put the Aggies wide receiver on the map while potentially entering the 2024-25 NCAA Football season as a wide receiver to watch.

9. Javon Baker

School: UCF Knights

While the numbers do not mount up to the top wide receivers in the country, it is hard to look past the UCF Knights Javon Baker. Baker is a true game changer with speed and big play abilities while being able to take the football to the house on any play.

The Knights wide receiver posted just 43 total receptions on the season but finished the season with 966 yards while averaging an impressive 22.5 yards per catch over the season.

Baker also added six touchdown receptions while becoming a key weapon within the Knights passing attack over each of the past two seasons since transferring in from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

8. Tetairoa McMillan

School: Arizona Wildcats

Entering last season, the Arizona Wildcats wide receiver entered college football with a huge upside while ranking among the top freshman wide receivers in the game.

That production did not slow down one bit during the 2023 season as Tetairoa McMillian topped the 1,200 yard mark (1242) while posting 80 catches including 10 touchdown receptions.

As a sophomore McMillian finished ranked 8th in the country in receiving yards, tied for 14th in touchdown receptions, and 20th in total receptions. A powerful performance this lands McMillian as one of the top wide receivers to watch entering the 2024-2025 NCAA Football season.

7. Xavier Legette

School: South Carolina Gamecocks

A name that has not received the same recognition as other top SEC wide receivers is Xavier Legette of the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Legette, who finally got an opportunity to shine during his senior season posted a career high 71 catches for 1,255 yards to go along with seven touchdown receptions. The 1,255 yards posted 39.4 percent of the Gamecocks’ entire passing attack while producing over 25.8 percent of the receptions within the offense.

Despite playing in possibly the most difficult conferences in all of college football Legette emerged as a playmaker for a Gamecocks team that struggled to produce offense all season long.

6. Brian Thomas Jr.

School: LSU Tigers

It is hard to imagine one wide receiver ranked among the best in all of college football but with Brian Thomas Jr of the LSU Tigers he was able to do just that while forming one of the top duos in college football with Malik Nabers.

Thomas Jr. capped off a strong junior season while increasing his draft stock while leading college football with 15 touchdown receptions.

To go along with those numbers the Tigers receiver also added 60 catches to go along with 1,079 receiving yards while averaging 18 yards per catch on the opposite side of Nabers. Over his first two seasons Thomas Jr added just 720 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns.

5. Malik Washington

School: Virginia Cavaliers

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 Best Wide Receivers in College Football 2023 Rankings list is the Virginia Cavaliers wide receiver Malik Washington.

As the 2023 NCAA Football season comes to an end, Washington is one of the most under the radar wide receivers in the country while garnering little attention compared to the top receivers in college football.

The Cavaliers senior wide receiver who transferred in from the Northwestern Wildcats posted his best season of his college career leading the nation with 110 receptions while turning those catches into 1,426 total yards and nine touchdown grabs.

The Cavaliers big final season of college football lands him among the top receivers to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

4. Troy Franklin

School: Oregon Ducks

When you look at three of the top four wide receivers in all of college football each put together huge seasons while landing their respective quarterbacks as finalists for the 2023 Heisman Trophy Award.

One of those receivers is the Oregon Ducks wide receiver who built strong chemistry with Bo Nix all season while helping Nix land in the running for the trophy.

Franklin put together his best season in college football while posting a career high 81 catches to go along with 1,383 receiving yards and 14 touchdown receptions.

Franklin’s big play ability helped the Ducks rank 2nd in college football in total yards per game (527.4) and points scored per game (44.2)

3. Rome Odunze

School: Washington Huskies

Another wide receiver coming off a huge season is the Washington Huskies junior wide receiver Rome Odunze.

Odunze who posted 75 catches for 1,145 yards last season with seven touchdowns continued to develop his all around game while emerging as an elite wide receiver this season for the high powered Washington Huskies offense.

The Las Vegas Nevada native capped off his junior season pulling in 81 total catches for 1,428 yards to go along with 13 touchdown receptions all while averaging 17.6 yards per reception. Expectations are high that Odunze will be a hot commodity during the 2024 NFL Draft.

2. Malik Nabers

School: LSU Tigers

It is easy to tab Malik Nabers as another strong candidate for the top overall wide receiver in college football after a huge season for the LSU Tigers. Nabers and teammate Brian Thomas Jr each put up 1,000 plus yards to go along with at least14 touchdown receptions.

All in all, Nabers was as difficult to cover in all college football while leading the nation with 1,546 yards while also finishing second in touchdown receptions. The numbers do not stop their Nabers also added 86 receptions on the season on 86 total catches.

Nabers’ production each week during the college football season helped land Jayden Daniels the 2023 Heisman Trophy Award. His production along with fellow standout receiver Thomas Jr helped the Tigers lead the nation in scoring (46.4) and yards per game (547.8).

1. Marvin Harrison Jr.

School: Ohio State Buckeyes

In at number one on the Top 10 Best Wide Receivers in College Football 2023 Rankings list is the Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison Jr who is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Jr put together his second straight season with at least 1,200 receiving yards to go along with 14 touchdown receptions.

The Buckeyes receiver finished tied for 2nd in college football in touchdowns and 1st among receivers in yards per catch (18.1) with at least 60 catches on the season.

All of this production also came as the Buckeyes turned the keys to the offense over to Kyle McCord in his first season as the starting quarterback. While the waiting game continues on Harrison Jr’s future, expectations are set high for next season whether it be with the Buckeyes or as a top draft pick in the NFL.
