Updating the Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Player Rankings for the 2024-2025 NCAA Season as Juju Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo battle for #1

Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Player 2025 Early Rankings

The 2024-2025 Women’s College Basketball season continues to heat up as the march toward March Madness continues as the calendar year rolls into 2025. As you start to look around the talented landscape of women’s college basketball one trend that continues to showcase each season is the list of talented stars stepping up to help continue to grow the women’s game of basketball. Two of those talented stars Hannah Hidalgo of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and JuJu Watkins of the USC Trojans currently headline the Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Players 2024-2025 Rankings list.


Watkins, who entered her sophomore season, continues to build on a strong start to her college resume while building her case to be the number one pick during the 2027 WNBA Draft.

The Trojans star is currently ranked third in the country in scoring trailing only Ta’Niya Latson of the Florida State Seminoles and Hidalgo in scoring after trailing only Caitlin Clark during her freshman season.

Meanwhile, Hidalgo is currently averaging just below 26 points per game while also playing excellent defense averaging four steals per game. Joining those two on the list of the best women’s college basketball includes Latson as well as guard Paige Bueckers of the UConn Huskies and guard Aneesah Morrow of the LSU Tigers.

Honorable Mention

Makayla Timpson

School: Florida State Seminoles

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Just missing the Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Players 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Florida State Seminoles guard Makayla Timpson. Like her teammate Ta’Niya Latson, Timpson has been stellar for the 13-2 Seminoles who currently sit tied atop the ACC standings with three wins within the conference.

Timpson has put together a strong season senior season while averaging a career high 17.9 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game. Currently Timpson is averaging a double double for her second straight season while adding value all over the hardwood for the Seminoles.

While being dominant on the glass Timpson has also been stellar on the defensive end of the floor averaging 3.1 blocked shots per game to go along with 2.2 steals per game.

Olivia Miles

School: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: Unranked

While most of the attention goes towards her Notre Dame Fighting Irish teammate Hannah Hidalgo, it is hard to not like what Olivia Miles brings to the floor each night.

Miles along with Hidalgo has helped guide the Fighting Irish to a 12-2 overall record to start the season including an impressive 4-1 record against AP Top 25 ranked programs. Over that stretch Miles is currently averaging 16.9 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.

Currently, through 14 games played this season, Miles currently ranks fourth in the country in assists while being only one of four players to average at least seven assists per game.

The New Jersey native has also been solid, averaging just below two steals per game (1.8) delivering the Fighting Irish one of the most dynamic two-way tandems at the guard position in women’s college basketball.

10. Lauren Betts

Position: Center
Previous Ranking: Honorable Mention

Sliding in at number 10 on the Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Players 2024-2025 Rankings list is UCLA Bruins junior center Lauren Betts. Betts, who is in her second season with Bruins after transferring in last season after a less than strong freshmen season with the Stanford Cardinals has been an anchor and key weapon for the Bruins all season long.

The same Bruins team that has started the season with 15 straight wins, sits atop the Big Ten Conference while also sitting ranked number one on the AP Top 25 Women’s College Basketball poll. Betts has improved her all-around performance this season while averaging a double double over her first 13 games of the season.

Despite missing two games, the Bruins star has been stellar averaging 19.8 points per game while also adding 10 rebounds per game. To go along with those strong numbers Betts has been solid down low averaging 2.2 blocked shots per game while adding 1.1 steals and 2.5 assists per game.

9. Izzy Higginbottom

School: Arkansas Razorbacks

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: Unranked 

After a strong 2023-2024 Women’s College Basketball season Izzy Higginbottom continues to develop into an all-around guard while improving her overall offensive production.

After averaging a career high 22.2 points per game last season to go along with a career high 46.2 percent shooting from the floor, the Arkansas Razorbacks senior guard is currently on pace to set new career highs including averaging 23.8 points per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor.

Higginbottom has also added 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game over her first 17 games played this season. Despite struggles from the surrounding cast the Razorbacks guard has done everything she has to help the team including posting 12 games with at least 20 points scored on the season.

8. Georgia Amoore

School: Kentucky Wildcats

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: 5

When it comes to production on the basketball court there is more to success than just scoring and that is the case that Georgia Amoore brings to the floor night in and night out for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Amoore, who elected to return for her fifth season while transferring to the Wildcats has been a big-time addition to a team currently ranked 15th in the country while posting a 13-1 overall record to start the season.

Georgia Amoore will be a popular name come the 2025 WNBA Draft is currently averaging 17.9 points per game to go along with a career high 7.4 assists per game.

Amoore has sacrificed her own success at times for the greater good of the entire Wildcats team while looking to get her teammates involved. To go along with those numbers Amoore has averaged 2.3 rebounds and one steal per game while shooting 34.6 percent from behind the three-point line.

7. Khamil Pierre

School: Vanderbilt Commodores

Position: Forward
Previous Ranking: Unranked

Entering the ranks among the top women’s college basketball players is the Vanderbilt Commodores sophomore forward Khamil Pierre. Pierre, who posted a solid freshman season entered the current season overlooked but has not let it slow her down while helping her lead her Commodores team to a 14-2 record to start the season.

Over those 16 games, Pierre is currently only one of two women’s players in the country averaging at least 20 points per game to go along with at least 10 rebounds. Pierre who is currently averaging a double double is posting 22.8 points per game to go along with 10.9 rebounds per game.

The production does not stop there as the Commodores forward is adding 2.1 assists and 3.5 steals per game on a team looking to make a run within the SEC Conference.

6. Audi Crooks

School: Iowa State Cyclones

Position: Center
Previous Ranking: 10

If you’re looking for a dynamic playmaker on both ends of the floor look no farther than the talented sophomore center Audi Crooks.

Crooks, who averaged 19.2 points per game during her freshman season has continued her dominance while improving her scoring by four points per game while also producing a career high 8.1 rebounds per game.

The six-foot three-inch center has been a force down low all season for the Cyclones while presenting mismatches against opposing teams on both ends of the floor.

While improvements can be made on the defensive end of the floor, the presence she brings to the offensive end of the hardwood is too hard to look past. Crooks has also added six double double performances while topping at least 20 points in 10 different games including four 30 plus point performances.

5. Ta’Niya Latson

Position: Guard

Rounding out the Top 5 on the Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Players 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Florida State Seminoles junior guard Ta’Niya Latson.

Latson who has averaged at least 21 points per game since arriving as a freshman back during the 2021-2022 Women’s College Basketball season is currently leading the nation while averaging 27.9 points per game.

Over 14 games this season the Florida native is shooting a career high 51.1 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from behind the three-point line.

In addition to ranking among the top scorers in the country the third-year star has improved her ball handling skills averaging 4.3 assists as well as on the defensive end of the floor while averaging a career high 2.7 steals per game.

4. Paige Bueckers

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: #2

When you have as talented of a roster as the UConn Huskies it is hard to get everyone a ton of touches while ensuring the production is spread around.

Despite the loaded roster, Paige Bueckers has been as advertised while solidifying herself as one of the top players in the country. The fourth-year star who has battled injuries at various times of her career has not allowed it to slow her down while on the floor.

Through 15 games this season, Bueckers is currently averaging 19.9 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds and four assists per game. To go with that production the Huskies guard is shooting 55.9 percent from the floor and 40.3 percent from behind the three-point line.

3. Aneesah Morrow

Position: Guard

Another talented guard making the case to be named the top women’s college basketball player for the 2024-2025 season is the LSU Tigers guard Aneesah Morrow.

Morrow, who is eligible to enter the 2025 WNBA Draft has played her way into consideration for one of the top overall picks while continuing to produce at a high level.

Through her first 17 games of the current season, Morrow has been a double double machine for the Tigers posting 15 double doubles while leading the nation over that stretch. After averaging over 21 points per game her first two seasons, Morrow has found a way to evolve as a player despite averaging just 18.1 points per game.

In addition to 18.1 points per game the Tigers guard is also leading the country averaging 14 rebounds per game to go along with 1.4 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

2. JuJu Watkins

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: 1

Entering the 2024-2025 Women’s College Basketball season JuJu Watkins was one of the most talked about players in the country and the talented sophomore has not disappointed.

Watkins who was the top overall recruit among the incoming freshman class just a year ago. While her production has dropped off from a year ago, her overall play has improved as teams look to slow her down while forcing her teammates to step up.

After averaging 27.1 points per game last season, Watkins is currently averaging 25.1 points per game through her first 15 games of the current season. In addition, the Trojans guard has averaged 6.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.9 blocked shots per game.

One of the most talented two-way players in college basketball, Watkins has also improved her shooting from 40.1 percent last season to 45 percent this season while also seeing her three-point success improve to 35.1 percent.

1. Hannah Hidalgo

Team: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Position: Guard
Previous Ranking: 3

In at number one on the Top 10 Women’s College Basketball Players 2024-2025 Rankings list is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard Hannah Hidalgo.

Hidalgo who also put together a stellar freshman season averaging 22.6 points per game has continued her dominance on the court this season while averaging a career-high 25.9 points per game to go alongside 6.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 49.4 percent from the field as well as 45.7 percent from behind the three-point line.

Even more impressive has been Hidalgo’s play on the defensive end of the hardwood while averaging four steals per game while helping to slow down opposing guards looking to attack the paint.

With the strong play Hidalgo has helped the Fighting Irish start to roll to a 12-2 overall record including posting a 4-1 record against teams ranked within the AP Top 25.
