By Test User | April 17, 2023
The 2023 MLB schedule has gotten off to a hot start with so many high expectations set forth for the 30 MLB teams. Entering the season all 30 MLB teams arrived with the same identical record of 0-0 with a long 162 game MLB schedule staring down each MLB team.
One team that is expected to compete for a second straight World Series Championship is the Houston Astros. The Astros are as talented as any team in baseball however a preseason injury to Jose Altuve during the World Baseball Classic (WBC) and the offseason departure of Justin Verlander leaves them missing a few key members. Despite that, the Astros are loaded with talent to compete all MLB seasons.
Other American League teams joining the Astros among the best teams to land on the Top 10 MLB Predictions 2023 rankings list is the New York Yankees of the American League East who will compete for the AL East Championship, the Tampa Bay Rays who will compete for the AL East, and the Cleveland Guardians who will compete for the AL Central Championship.
Joining the list from the National League includes the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres who will both compete for the NL Championship as well as the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves who will compete for the NL East Championship. Here is a look at the 10 MLB teams landing on the Top 10 MLB Teams Predictions 2023 rankings list:
MLB Season Prediction: NL Wild Card #2
Landing just outside of the Top 10 MLB Teams Predictions 2023 rankings list is the Milwaukee Brewers who rank among the best teams in the National League while being a legitimate contender within the NL Central Division.
Leading the success for Milwaukee is a strong starting rotation that features Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta.
Meanwhile the roster features up and coming catcher William Contreras as well as outfielder Christian Yelich, and shortstop Willy Adames.
The Brewers have gotten off to a hot start to the 2023 MLB Season while sitting atop the NL Central with a 9-4 record entering play on Friday April 14th, 2023.
MLB Season Prediction: 4th in AL East
One of the more surprising teams from the 2022 MLB season was the Baltimore Orioles who broke out with a very young talent of potential top tier stars while topping the 81-win plateau while competing all season in the AL East.
While the AL East continues to be one of the best divisions in baseball the Orioles have a strong catcher leading their success in Adley Rutschman who was called up after the start of the season last season while turning around the Orioles pitching staff.
The Orioles have started off the 2023 MLB season winning eight of their first 14 games entering play on Friday April 14th, 2023. The bad news for the Orioles is if they played in any other division in baseball, they would be a true contender to compete for the division title.
Top 10 MLB Team Predictions
10. Minnesota Twins
MLB Season Prediction: AL Wild Card #3
After finishing the season with a 78-84 record last season while finishing third in the AL Central, the Minnesota Twins are looking to compete for the NL Central title during the 2023 MLB Season.
The Twins are a well-balanced team that can play solid defense, hit for power, hit for average and have a strong pitching staff. At the plate the return of Carlos Correa delivers the team a top tier shortstop while Byron Buxton, when healthy, ranks among the best outfielders in all of baseball.
The team was also impressive during the off-season acquiring Pablo Lopez from the Miami Marlins to bolster a rotation that featured Joe Ryan and Sonny Gray.
The Twins have gotten off to a hot start to the 2023 MLB season while holding the top spot in the AL Central division through Friday April 14, 2023. Should be able to grab that wild card spot.
9. Cleveland Guardians
MLB Season Prediction: AL Central Champions
As the Minnesota Twins land at number 10 on the Top 10 MLB Teams Predictions 2023 rankings list, the Cleveland Guardians slide in at number nine just ahead of them.
The Guardians have a strong young nucleus on their team while veteran All-Star Jose Ramirez continues to rank among the best third baseman in all of baseball each season.
After racing to 92 wins last season and the top spot in the AL Central, high expectations are set forth for the Guardians to repeat in 2023.
Joining Ramirez in the lineup is talented second year star Steven Kwan and Andres Gimenez. Meanwhile on the mound the Guardians are led by Shane Bieber and Cal Quantrill who both are capable of being top of the rotation arms.
8. Toronto Blue Jays
MLB Season Prediction: AL Wild Card #2
Centered in the mix of a very loaded AL East division the Toronto Blue Jays are as loaded on offense as any team in Major League Baseball.
An offense built around Vladimir Guerrero Jr and George Springer but also feature a long list of talented players including Bo Bichette, Whit Merrifield, and Matt Chapman.
The team also added a solid arm in Chris Bassit to give the team a solid rotation that includes Kevin Gausman and Alex Manoah. The Blue Jays have gotten off to a hot start winning nine of their first 14 games to land in second place in the AL East.
7. St. Louis Cardinals
MLB Season Prediction: NL Central Champions
In what might be the weakest of the divisions in all of Major League Baseball the St. Louis Cardinals are talented enough to win the NL Central during the 2023 MLB Season.
Built around two MVP players who can carry an entire offense, the Cardinals have as good a lineup as any in baseball built around Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt.
In addition, with the departure of potential Hall of Famer Yadier Molina’s retirement, the Cardinals added another talented weapon to the roster in the addition of Willson Contreras.
The team will also rely on Jordan Montgomery to take a big step forward while helping to anchor the rotation. Despite a slow start to the 2023 MLB season, look for the Cardinals to make a run this season.
6. Tampa Bay Rays
MLB Season Prediction: AL Wild Card #1
It would be easy to slot in the Tampa Bay Rays as the favorite to take home the top spot in the American League and the overall best team in the AL East after the hot start.
However, with that said the Rays are a well-built team geared around the smaller parts of the game of baseball including having a strong defense and pitching staff.
However, the team is built to hit for power as well while All-Star potential Wander Franco looks to take a big step forward after an injury riddled 2022 MLB season.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old star Shane McClanahan has the stuff to be a Cy Young candidate in the American League while ranking among the best pitchers in all of baseball last season.
5. Los Angeles Dodgers
MLB Season Prediction: NL Wild Card #1
Rounding out the Top 10 MLB Teams Predictions 2023 rankings list is the Los Angeles Dodgers. While many experts have the Dodgers repeating, early injuries during spring training and the start of the 2023 MLB season have impacted that potential.
While the team is still loaded with stars including Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, and Will Smith. However, the departure of Trea Turner leaves a huge void in the middle of the Dodgers lineup while also taking away a solid defender at the shortstop position.
The bigger concern is the depleted pitching staff that has seen each of their starters battle injury concerns including Clayton Kershaw and Julio Urias. In addition, the team will be without Walker Buehler for most if not all the 2023 MLB season.
4. Houston Astros
MLB Season Prediction: AL West Champions
The biggest question mark entering the 2023 MLB season is can the Houston Astros repeat as World Series Champions? The team will have a big hill to climb after losing multiple players from their World Series roster including Cy Young Award winner and clubhouse leader Justin Verlander.
In addition to losing Verlander the team lost Jose Altuve to an injury during the World Baseball Classic taking another leader out of their clubhouse and off the field.
Nonetheless the team still has a talented lineup while also adding Jose Abreu to their lineup to add a veteran bat. Joining Abreu will be second year shortstop Jeremy Pena while Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman also have big bats that can carry an offense.
3. San Diego Padres
MLB Season Prediction: NL West Champions
Spend, spend, spend, and spend some more is the motto of the San Diego Padres as they attempt to buy their way to a World Series Championship. That spending continued during the MLB offseason as the team landed talented shortstop Xander Bogaerts.
The move delivered the Padres another All-Star to fill the lineup around All-Stars Juan Soto, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr.
Soto, who the team acquired before the 2022 MLB trade deadline will look to return to his offensive potential in 2023. The return of a healthy Fernando Tatis Jr later during the season should provide another big bat to pace their offense.
2. New York Yankees
MLB Season Prediction: AL East Champions
What a difference one signing makes for a Major League Baseball team. That is the case with the New York Yankees who were very close to losing Aaron Judge to free agency while leaving a void in the middle of their lineup.
Nonetheless the Yankees figured a way to sign Judge to a long-term deal while moving the team back to the front of the pack in the AL East division during the 2023 MLB season.
Joining Judge in the lineup is the talented rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe who brings his abilities and talents to Yankee Stadium in 2023.
Meanwhile the team’s rotation is as strong as any in baseball while Gerrit Cole anchors the rotation alongside Nestor Cortes.
1. Atlanta Braves
MLB Season Prediction: NL East Champions
Coming off a disappointing end to the 2022 MLB Season, the Atlanta Braves are looking to return to the World Series in 2023 while dominating the NL East division.
The Braves who have one of the best all-around teams in baseball including at the plate, in the field, and on the mound continue to find success with their home-grown talent.
In addition, the Braves have a strong rotation that has a ton of depth including Kyle Wright, Max Fried, Spencer Strider, and Charlie Morton.
Meanwhile Ronald Acuna enters the season healthy and ready to carry the Braves offense that features Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, and Matt Olson. Look for the Braves to repeat as the NL East champion during the 2023 MLB season.
