Ruben Dias was the difference-maker for Manchester City this season with his arrival coinciding with the Cityzens enjoying their best run of form. 

The Portuguese defender is a colossus that is ready to die on the line of duty and his defensive instinct is one that has rarely been seen around the world for some time. 

He came to City and made the likes of John Stones top stars almost immediately and that helped them wrestle back the Premier League crown from Liverpool and to reach the final of the Champions League. 

His performances didn’t go unnoticed, and we have made him the star of the week because of the awards that he scooped at the end of the season.

The former Benfica man ended the campaign with a defeat in the Champions League final against Chelsea. 

However, he was still named the FWA Footballer of the Year: 2020–21, PFA Premier League Team of the Year: 2020–21, Manchester City Player of the Season: 2020–21, Premier League Player of the Season: 2020–21, ESM Team of the Year: 2020–21 and UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season: 2020–21. 

Winning all these accolades in his first campaign is an impressive achievement and he deserves to remain top of our defenders’ rankings.
