Good defenders change teams just as well as, if not better than, top attackers, and that is the type of impact that Ruben Dias has had on Manchester City.

When Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, their performance shot up and they won the Champions League and Premier League.

Manchester City is now set to reclaim the Premier League crown that Liverpool took from them last season, and much of their performances have been helped by the arrival of Dias from Benfica.

Our list has remained largely unchanged, but some players have moved ahead of others with Man City’s Dias and John Stones now ahead of the rest.

They have been arguably the best defence partnership that Pep Guardiola has had in this campaign and will still be his go-to partnership.

Dias’ form has earned him a Whoscored rating of 7.06 in all competitions this season. This 23-year-old is on his way to becoming a City and Premier League legend.
