Maguire was signed for a world record fee for a defender last summer and many thought he was signed for more than his value.
Manchester United needed a defender to make their team complete and he has helped them achieve some stability at the back.
He has been guilty of being easily beaten in some games, but overall Manchester United have become a better team because of him.
This month has been a tough one for defenders, but Maguire managed to help Manchester United keep three clean sheets as they fought their way back into the top four.
This performance sees him move from number 5 in our defender ranking to number 1.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United, Premier League

The signing of Fernandes has been the turning point for Manchester United and his performances might have saved Ole Gunnar Solkjear’s job because they will have struggled to get into the Champions League without him.
He has continued his fine form in the month of July as he scored four goals and provided four assists for the Red Devils on their way to securing a top four finish on the final day of the season.
His performances see him move above Jordan Henderson and Kevin De Bruyne as the top midfielder of the month.

Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City, Premier League

De Bruyne remains an important part of Manchester City as Pep Guardiola looks to continue dominating English football.
He was unable to help Manchester City retain the league title that they have won in the last two seasons and the FA Cup that they won last season, but he had a fine month as an individual player.
The Belgian scored three goals and provided four assists as Manchester City ended their season.
He drops down from number one spot to Bruno Fernandes who had a slightly better month.

The former world’s best player returned for the completion of the Italian league season in fine form as he scored so many goals and almost won the Golden Boot.
He netted 7 times and provided 1 assist as the Old Ladies won yet another Italian league title.
He moves up from number four in our rankings to number one.

Lionel Messi, Barcelona, La Liga

The Argentinean will remain the holder of the Ballon’D or for another year following announcements that the award ceremony will not be holding this year.
He has been in fine form for the Catalans since football returned and the month of July was yet another productive month for him.
He scored three times and provided four assists as he recorded more than 20 goals and 20 assists in a season.
