The 2023 Women's National Basketball Association Season is fast approaching with the season set to tip off on May 19th, 2023. As the season continues to approach the time to prepare for the upcoming WNBA season has arrived allowing fantasy owners enough time for the upcoming WNBA fantasy basketball season and WNBA DFS contests.
While the list of top tier fantasy WNBA basketball options are endless, one player that stands out as the top option entering the upcoming 2023 WNBA season is the New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart.
Stewart, who signed with the Liberty during the WNBA offseason, is coming off another strong season last year while leading the WNBA in scoring.
As Stewart is one of the best overall players in the WNBA, she is just one of many talented weapons around the league for fantasy owners to look to build their rosters around.
Joining Stewart among the best fantasy basketball options for the upcoming 2023 WNBA schedule include Brittney Griner of the Phoenix Mercury, Kelsey Plum of the Las Vegas Aces, A’ja Wilson of the Phoenix Aces, and Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty. Here is a look at the Top 10 WNBA Fantasy Draft 2023 Rankings list:
Honorable Mention
Jewell Loyd
Team: Seattle Storm
Position: Guard
Landing just outside of the Top 10 WNBA Fantasy 2023 Rankings list is the Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd. Loyd, who is entering her 9th WNBA season, is a strong fantasy producer for fantasy owners.
The Storm guard finished the 2022 WNBA season ranked 10th in the league while averaging 16.3 points per game. Loyd also added 2.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while averaging 30.3 minutes per game.
With the departure of Breanna Stewart, the veteran guard may be called upon for more production during the upcoming 2023 WNBA season.
Kahleah Copper
Team: Chicago Sky
Position: Guard
Entering the upcoming 2023 WNBA schedule it is hard to look past the Chicago Sky guard Kahleah Copper. Copper is coming off her third straight season averaging at least 14 points while posting a career high 15.7 points per game last season.
While Cooper provides a solid scoring threat, the 28th year old former Rutgers Scarlet Knights guard also is strong on the glass averaging 5.7 rebounds while also adding 2.3 assists per game.
Only thing slowing Copper down from reaching higher on the list is the lack of additional production on the defensive end of the floor both in steals and blocked shots.
Top 10 WNBA Fantasy Rankings
10. Arike Ogunbowale
Team: Dallas Wings
Position: Guard
Coming in at number 10 on the Top 10 WNBA Fantasy 2023 Rankings list is the Dallas Wings former 2019 1st round WNBA Draft Pick Arike Ogunbowale.
While Ogunbowale has the potential to rank as high as number one on the list, the offseason additions may limit the number of touches the Wings guard sees during the upcoming season.
Ogunbowale can rank among the WNBA’s top scorers finishing 4th last season while also adding fantasy value while averaging 3.3 rebound and 3.6 assists per game for WNBA fantasy basketball owners.
9. Alyssa Thomas
Team: Connecticut Sun
Position: Forward
When you are looking to build a fantasy basketball lineup whether it be in the WNBA or the NBA, you must look for players who stuff the stat sheet. One player that does exactly that is the former Maryland Terps star Alyssa Thomas.
Thomas, who has played nine seasons in the WNBA is coming off a season in which she averaged 13.4 points per game while also adding 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and posted 1.7 steals per game.
While the points don’t rank among the leaders, her other abilities to add fantasy value makes her a smart move for fantasy owners entering the upcoming 2023 WNBA schedule.
8. Napheesa Collier
Team: Minnesota Lynx
Position: Forward
After missing all but four games during the 2022 WNBA season Napheesa Collier will be entering the 2023 WNBA season looking to return to form.

Howard finished the season playing in 34 games while averaging 31.4 minutes over those contests while producing 16.2 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals. The Dream star should take a big stride forward during her sophomore season in the WNBA.
5. Sabrina Ionescu
Team: New York Liberty
Position: Guard
Rounding out the top five on the Top 10 WNBA Fantasy 2023 Rankings list is Sabrina Ionescu who finished last season ranked 8th in the WNBA in scoring while averaging 17.4 points per game.
The New York Liberty guard is entering her fourth season within the WNBA while coming off averaging 17.4 points per game over 36 games on the floor.
Ionescu should continue to have opportunities to produce with the addition of Breanna Stewart who will make it difficult for defenses to slow down multiple top tier scorers in the WNBA. Ionescu also added 7.1 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game to help add fantasy basketball value for his owners.
4. Brittney Griner
Team: Phoenix Mercury
Position: Center
After missing all the 2022 WNBA Season, Britney Griner is back and looking to help lead the Phoenix Mercury on a deep run during the upcoming season.
Griner has averaged at least 20 points in four of her last five seasons while also averaging at least 7.2 rebounds over those same five seasons. The Mercury center also is dominant on the defensive end while averaging nearly two blocked shots per game.
It is difficult to know the shape and condition Griner is in, but expectations are set extremely high for Griner to be a leader among the best WNBA fantasy players in 2023.
3. A’ja Wilson
Team: Las Vegas Aces
Position: Forward
When it comes to the next two WNBA fantasy options for fantasy owners, both are members of the Las Vegas Aces. Position: Forward
In at number one on the Top 10 WNBA Fantasy 2023 Rankings list is the newly acquired forward of the New York Liberty Breanna Stewart.

The former Seattle Storm forward is coming off her second straight 20 plus points per game season and third since arriving in the WNBA during the 2016 WNBA Draft.
In addition to scoring Stewart shot 37.9 percent from behind the three-point line while adding 7.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.6 steals and nearly one blocked shot per game.
