The National Hockey League has been run by a group of guys who have been dominating in the past years, some of them even the past decade but there are also players who have stolen the spotlight. With the season entering the final phase, we are presenting you with the Top 10 NHL Players in the league at the moment.

Honorable Mention

Claude Giroux

Team: Philadelphia Flyers

Artemi Panarin

Team: New York Rangers

Top 10 NHL Players

10. Nathan MacKinnon

Team: Colorado Avalanche

Nathan MacKinnon is not having his best season mainly because of injuries but there is no way he can be left off a top 10 list. The 26-year-old provides magic on the ice anytime he is ready to play. The Avalanche center has gone over 20 goals and 40 assists for the season despite playing in only 45 games so far.

9. Kirill Kaprizov

Team: Minnesota Wild

Kirill Kaprizov is one of the most versatile young players in the league who makes the Minnesota Wild a dark-horse candidate in this season’s playoffs. The 24-year-old Russian is ranked in top 12 in goals and assists this season and only the sky’s the limit for him.

8. Auston Matthews

Team: Toronto Maple Leafs

Auston Matthews is the best scorer in the league this season with 45 goals and often seems that he carries the whole Maple Leafs team on his back. The 24-year-old has yet to reach his primer and is just a matter of time before he tops this list.

7. Mikko Rantanen

Team: Colorado Avalanche

Many have believed that Mikko Rantanen is just beneficial for playing alongside Nathan MacKinnon in Colorado but the 25-year-old has grown into a fantastic right wing that deserves all the respect on his own. The Finnish is in top 20 in both goals and assists which puts him in tenth place on the total points list for the season.

6. Johnny Gaudreau

Team: Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames have emerged as one of the top two contenders in the West and that has a lot to do with Johnny Gaudreau. The left wing is the key man in the Flames lineup literally doing everything for his team. The 28-year-old is second in the league with 52 assists and fourth with 78 points.

5. Nazem Kadri

Team: Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche are the best team in the league at the moment and Nazem Kadri is the main reason for that which could lead them to a Stanley Cup Trophy. Definitely the best center in the game besides McDavid, Kadri is a man that the Avalanche can count on in every single game. He is tied in fourth place with 51 assists and has scored 22 goals. Kadri is still under the shadow of last season’s incident but will definitely climb this list as the season progresses.

4. Alex Ovechkin

Team: Washington Capitals

Many have said that the form is temporary but the class is permanent and Alex Ovechkin is the real example of that. The 36-year-old Russian is still one of the best players in the league and the only reason why the Washington Capitals are in the upper half of the Eastern Conference. Ovechkin is the fifth-best scorer in the league with 36 goals and eighth in the league with 72 points.

3. Leon Draisaitl

Team: Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers still have two of the three best players in the league which makes their recent record even more surprising. Draisaitl is the second-best scorer in the league as he is on the verge of his 40th goal of the season. He is also 15th in assists which makes him a real treat whenever the puck is in his possession.

2. Jonathan Huberdeau

Team: Florida Panthers

Jonathan Huberdeau was not projected to be among the top 40 players entering this season but the way the 28-year-old plays, has left many analysts speechless. The Florida Panthers have the best offense in the league and that is mainly because of Huberdeau’s brilliance. The Canadian is leading the league in assists and total points. Can’t get much better than that.

1. Connor McDavid

Team: Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid is the best player in the NHL at the moment despite the fact that many think that he is past his prime. The only thing that doesn’t go in favor of him being the best is the fact that the Edmonton Oilers are seventh in the Western Conference. Individually, McDavid is tied on top of the league with 83 points and is the eighth-best scorer with 32 goals and tied in fourth plays with 51 assists. But McDavid’s greatness cannot fully be shown by stats, he is simply playing the game at a different speed and is regular in the highlight films.
