The NFL off-season delivers everyone an opportunity to look at the future as well as look back at the previous NFL season.

As this opportunity has arrived, it allows us to look back at the Top 10 NFL Offensive Tackles of last season while ranking based on their production.

However, when it comes to ranking offensive tackles as well as other offensive lineman there is very limited statistics or data to go off, making it hard for fans to understand.

Despite the lack of offensive statistics available, the NFL is loaded with a long list of talented offensive tackles. Each of these offensive tackles add a ton of value to their respective teams while ensuring their offenses can succeed and the quarterbacks stay on their feet.

The talented group of top tier offensive tackles include Trent Williams of the San Francisco 49ers, Tristan Wirfs of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and David Bakhtiari of the Green Bay Packers.

With that said, here is our list of the Top 10 NFL Offensive Tackle Rankings of the 2021-2022 season:

Honorable Mention

Rashawn Slater

Team(s): Los Angeles Chargers

Coming in just outside of the Top 10 NFL Offensive Tackle 2021-22 rankings list is the Los Angeles Chargers Rashawn Slater.

Slater, who was drafted by the Chargers during the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, stepped into the role as the teams starting left tackle while helping the Chargers offense to rank near the top of the league across the board.

With Slater at left tackle, the Chargers ranked 4th in the NFL in yards (6,634), tied for second in passing (4,800) and fifth in points per game (28.2). His play on the field helped Slater earn his first Pro-Bowl and a second-team All-Pro selection.

Laremy Tunsil

Team(s): Houston Texans

As you look around the NFL, Laremy Tunsil continues to rank as one of the top offensive tackles in the NFL as well as one of the best left tackles in the game.

Tunsil ranks near the top of tackles in the NFL in pass protection posting plus 75 pass protection grades by PFF last season while also an 85 plus pass-blocking grade over the past three seasons with the Houston Texans.

Despite the struggles of the Houston Texans offense last season that was not due to the offensive line back lack of talent at the quarterback position, Tunsil has been excellent at the tackle position.

Top 10 NFL Offensive Tackles

10. Trent Brown

Team(s): New England Patriots

It’s difficult to rank the best offensive tackles around the NFL without understanding how important they matter to the team without all the other offensive statistics to support it.

However, when looking at game film on the New England Patriots after returning as well as previous game film over his career, Brown is as dominant as any right tackle in the NFL.

With Brown a part of the offensive line, quarterback Mac Jones was sacked the seventh fewest among quarterbacks with at least 11 games played and tied for the fewest sacks among quarterbacks that played all 17 games.

9. La’el Collins

Team(s): Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys

All you have to think about is why did the Cincinnati Bengals jump on La’el Collins of the Dallas Cowboys as fast as they did when free agency started?

That was because of his play on the field and the struggles the Bengals showcased last season with keeping Joe Burrow upright. Collins, who played the right tackle position for the Cowboys since being drafted during the 2015 NFL season, has been as solid as any during that time.

Collins’ success has shown up on film as well as PFF ratings where he receives an A grade and a PFF run-blocking grade of 89 and passing blocking grade that ranks in the top 10 of all right tackles.

With him on the field in Dallas, the Cowboys offense ranked first in scoring (31.2 ppg), first in yards (6,919) and tied for second in passing (4,800).

8. Terron Armstead

Team(s): Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints

Landing at Top 10 NFL Offensive Tackle 2021-22 rankings list is the former New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead. Armstead, like a few of the other tackles on the list of the best tackles in the NFL, have battled injuries, limiting his time on the field.

Despite appearing in just 43% of the Saints offensive plays last season, the right tackle graded near the top of all tackles in the NFL while showcasing his abilities, something that was on full display in 2019 and 2020 when the Saints offense ranked near the tops of the NFL.

7. Jordan Mailata

Team(s): Philadelphia Eagles

It is not hard to like what you see with Jordan Mailata of the Philadelphia Eagles as he is slowly playing himself into one of the best left tackles in the NFL.

Mailata, who did not play college football and played mostly rugby during his teen years, has made the transition to the NFL.

After not playing over his first two seasons with the team and only making a handful of stars in his third season, the Eagles promoted Mailata to starting left tackle in 2021.

Mailata didn’t disappoint finishing the season graded the third best tackle in the NFL by PFF with his pass blocking rated at 83.8 and his run blocking at 88.5.

6. Lane Johnson

Team(s): Philadelphia Eagles

As you begin to read about the upcoming 2022 NFL season, the more you may hear about how good the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line is and how good their offense will be.

Much of that success is due to their two starting tackles with Jordan Mailata at the left tackle position and Lane Johnson at the right tackle position.

While the numbers are not there to show how good Johnson is, he did earn second-team All-Pro honors for his play on the field during the 2021 NFL season. Last season, Johnson earned a 83.3 PFF grade landing only behind Ryan Ramczyk and Tristan Wirfs among all right tackles.

5. Ryan Ramczyk

Team(s): New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints right tackle ranks at the top of the list among all right tackles in the NFL as well as one of the top offensive tackles in the entire NFL.

Ramczyk has anchored the Saints right side of the offensive line since being drafted out of Wisconsin during the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

As Ramczyk battled injuries last season, he still managed to appear in 10 games for the Saints while ranking among the top five right tackles over that stretch of games played.

4. Tristan Wirfs

Team(s): Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, Tristan Wirfs has become a household name around the NFL while taking home his first first-team All-Pro selection during the 2021-22 NFL season.

His play on the field has landed him at number four on the Top 10 NFL Offensive Tackle 2021-22 rankings list while being a key piece in the success Tom Brady and the Buccaneers offense has had the past two seasons. Wirfs has appeared in all 33 regular season games as the starting right tackle.

3. Tyron Smith

Team(s): Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a tremendous offensive season during the 2021 NFL schedule and much of that has to do with the team’s offensive line including Tyron Smith.

Smith, who battled injuries during the season, still showcased his ability to be one of the best left tackles in the NFL while ranking third among all left tackles with a 90.2 PFF grade.

Smith is an excellent run blocking tackle while also ranking near the top of all tackles in pass blocking. This has helped Dak Prescott to continue putting together big performances each year.

2. David Bakhtiari

Team(s): Green Bay Packers

When you think of the Green Bay Packers you think of one of the best offensive teams in the NFL with Aaron Rodgers being an MVP candidate each year.

That was the case last year as Rodgers was as good or better than any quarterback in the NFL while the offensive line allowed him to do whatever he wanted in the pocket.

That success is in large part due to their line including David Bakhtiari who might not get enough credit.

While Bakhitari missed significant time last season, he still ranked as one of the best pass blockers in the NFL when on the field. Prior to last season, Bakhtiari ranked at the top of the list in pressure rate allowing just 3.5 percent.

1. Trent Williams

Team(s): San Francisco 49ers

The potential future Hall of Fame left tackle Trent Williams is as good as any left tackle in the NFL while continuing to help block for a San Francisco 49ers offense that can put up points.

Last season Williams posted the highest grade among all tackles in the NFL according to PFF with a 96.6 while also posting scores of 82.7 in pass blocking and 97.7 in running blocking. His success over the past few seasons ranks him as the best left tackle in football.
