The College Football landscape continues to evolve with players landing new NIL deals, transferring from one college to another the following year, and a new group of stud freshman entering campus each season.

The same can be said for the group of freshmen taking to the football field for the upcoming 2022 NCAA Football season.

While it is hard to exactly rank these star football players accurately, you can take a gamble on which freshman football players have the potential to land on the Top 10 College Football Freshman Preview Rankings 2022 list.

As you start to look around at the top tier freshman looking to make a name for themselves, a few include quarterbacks Cade Klubnik of the Clemson Tigers, redshirt freshman Quinn Ewers of the Texas Longhorns, and Nicco Marchiol of the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Meanwhile Jackson State Tigers led by coach Deion Sanders landed two players on the Top 10 College Football Freshman Preview Rankings 2022 list. Those two stars are top rated prospect Travis Hunter and Kevin Coleman.

Here is a look at the 10 NCAA Freshman who land on the Top 10 College Football Freshman Preview Rankings 2022 list.

Honorable Mention

Cade Klubnik

School: Clemson Tigers

Position: Quarterback

With a proven starter slotted in for the Clemson Tigers entering the 2022 NCAA Football schedule it is hard to slot Cade Klubnik much higher on the list.

Nonetheless, if DJ Uiagalelei struggles to stay consistent or to get the Tigers offense rolling Dabo Swinney may make the move to the freshman sooner rather than later.

With Klubnik’s ability to throw the ball with accuracy and power, he has the potential to be a big-time quarterback over the next few seasons before making his path to the NFL.

Jaishawn Barham

School: Maryland Terps

Position: Linebacker

As the Maryland Terps look to transcend their football program with Mike Locksley as head coach, their success revolves around landing better football players including the top recruits from the state of Maryland.

That will be the case with linebacker Jaishawn Barham who played his high school football at St. Frances Academy while growing up in Maryland.

Barham is an active aggressive defender who should play well against both the run and pass for the Terps while entering school as a four-star recruit.

Top 10 College Football Freshman

10. Walter Nolen

School: Texas A&M Aggies

Position: Defensive Lineman

One of the top recruits in all of High School Football in 2021, takes his talents to the Texas A&M Aggies for the upcoming College Football season. That player is former Powell High School five-star defensive lineman Walter Nolen.

Nolen, who was ranked at the number one prospect in the state of Tennessee and the number two overall prospect Nationally has size, power, and speed for a big man to make some noise on an Aggies team looking to compete in the SEC during the upcoming 2022 NCAA Football season.

9. George Pettaway

School: North Carolina Tar Heels

Position: Running Back

As the North Carolina Tar Heels look to turn a chapter on their football program within the Atlantic Coast conference (ACC), their success must start with their recruiting classes year in and year out.

One of those members of the upcoming 2022 recruiting class is running back George Pettaway who the Tar Heels recruited from Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.

Pettaway who has solid size at 5 foot 10 inches was a four-star recruit and the 8th overall rated running back in High School Football last season.

8. Mykel Williams

School: Georgia Bulldogs

Position: Defensive Lineman

When you win the National Championship like the Georgia Bulldogs did last season it opens the door for multiple top tier recruits to join the program.

That is the case this season as the Bulldogs have a trio of stud freshmen entering the program to rebuild their defense after the team lost multiple defensive players during the 2022 NFL Draft.

One of those recruits is Mykel Williams who is staying home in Georgia to join the Bulldogs in hopes of helping them repeat as National Champions. Williams ranked as the 4th best prospect during the recruiting class and the 2nd best player in Georgia.

7. Kevin Coleman

School: Jackson State Tigers

Position: Wide Receiver

Deion Sanders and company is doing big things with the Jackson State Tigers after turning in an impressive 2022 NCAA Football recruiting class.

One that included both wide receiver Kevin Coleman as well as Travis Hunter. While Coleman might not get the recognition as some of the other freshman wide receivers entering college, he did showcase his potential during the team’s spring game returning a kick for a touchdown.

Coleman who played his high school football for St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis Missouri ranked 1st in the state as the top football recruit. Coleman has tremendous speed and has the hands to be a playmaker as a freshman in 2022 for the Tigers.

6. Cyrus Moss

School: Miami Hurricanes

Position: Defensive End

All eyes will be on the Miami Hurricanes during the upcoming 2022 NCAA Football season including on the freshman edge defender Cyrus Moss.

Moss, who is set to play on the defensive line as a freshman, has tremendous size at 6 foot 5 but lacks the weight and strength entering his first season to be 100 percent certain he will dominate.

Nonetheless as Moss continues to develop and put on muscle and strength, look for the former Bishop Gorman football player and four-star recruit to be a solid contributor on the Hurricanes team looking to compete in the ACC.

5. Luther Burden III

School: Missouri Tigers

Position: Wide Receiver

Arriving at number five on the Top 10 College Football Freshman Preview Rankings 2022 list is the Missouri Tigers stud wide receiver Luther Burden.

As Burden becomes the face of the Tigers, while landing NIL deals the former East St. Louis wide receiver will look to move his name up the ranks of some of the top wide receivers within the SEC conference.

Burden III was the number one overall wide receiver recruit this year and the third overall recruit in High School Football.

Burden has solid size at six foot but also has strong hands, jumping abilities and the ability to track the ball in the air.

4. Nick Singleton

School: Penn State Nittany Lions

Position: Running Back

While Nick Singleton waits to take over the sole running back spot on the Penn State Nittany Lions, fans of the program can be excited by the expectations set forth for the incoming freshman.

Singleton is one cut away from taking any run or catch to the house while making opponents miss on any play.

As Keyvone Lee is set to take on the number one workload, expect Singleton to work his way in while showcasing his ability to find the end zone early and often while increasing his workload.

3. Travis Hunter

School: Jackson State Tigers

Position: Cornerback

While expectations will be high for all the incoming top tier College Football recruits, the expectations set forth for Travis Hunter is even higher.

Hunter, who was the number one overall prospect in all of High School Football also elected to pass up on the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide to head to Jackson State to play for Deion Sanders and the Tigers.

Hunter is a game changing talent that has all the physical tools to be a two-way talent but will play cornerback on the Tigers defense. Hunter has speed, defensive knowledge, and a strong knack to make a play on any ball thrown his way.

2. Quinn Ewers

School: Texas Longhorns

Position: Quarterback

For some Quinn Ewers might have been left off the list since he isn’t a true freshman, However, in accordance with College Football guidelines, Ewers is listed as a freshman after electing to redshirt last season.

Now that Ewers has been announced as the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, look for his status as one of the top players in College Football to increase while also leading all freshmen in passing in 2022.

1. Nicco Marchiol

School: West Virginia Mountaineers

Position: Quarterback

One name that has not gotten enough recognition this off-season as a potential top tier freshman in College Football is that of Nicco Marchiol.

The incoming freshman quarterback of the West Virginia Mountaineers has solid arm strength and a quick release all while being a left-handed quarterback.

While the battle for the starting quarterback position is still up in the air for the Mountaineers, many expect Marchiol to eventually win the battle and take it for the rest of the season.
