There is a lot of talent in the middleweight division, and ranking the top ten can be difficult, therefore, here are some honorable mentions.

Honorable Mention

Maciej Sulęcki

Maciej Sulęcki is a Polish professional boxer, with a record of 30-2, and 11 of his victories are by way of knockout. He also fought for the WBO middleweight title in 2019.

Sergiy Derevyanchenko

Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko is a very exciting boxer from Ukraine. He has a record of 13 wins and 4 losses, 10 of which are KOs. Derevyanchenko has fought for world titles three times but lost all of them. Though he didn’t make it into the rankings after his last loss. He deserves an honorable mention. 

Top 10 Middleweight Boxers

10. Felix Cash

Felix Cash is an undefeated professional boxer from England, and he has a record of 15 wins and no losses. 

He is the former WBC International Silver middleweight champion and held the British and Commonwealth middleweight titles as well. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated  Magomed Madiev via UD and won the vacant WBC International middleweight title. As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

9. Erislandy Lara

Title(s):

  • WBA Middleweight Champion

Erislandy Lara is a Cuban American boxer, with a professional record of 28 wins, 3 losses, and 3 draws. He is ranked #3 by BoxRec

He is also the current WBA (Regular) middleweight champion. He is a very accomplished boxer, but he fought at light-middleweight until his most recent fight. Therefore, he is still low in our rankings. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Thomas LaManna via first-round KO, and his next fight has not been announced yet.

8. Carlos Adames

Carlos Adames is a Dominican professional boxer, with a record of 21 wins and 1 loss. He is ranked #6 by BoxRec and #8 by The Ring. 

Adames has won multiple regional titles at light-middleweight and was challenged for the WBO interim light middleweight title as well. In his most recent fight, he defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko via Majority Decision, and his next fight has not been announced yet.

7. Janibek Alimkhanuly

Fighting out of Kazakhstan, Janibek Alimkhanuly is an undefeated boxer with a record of 11 wins and 0 losses. 

As an amateur, he won the 2013 world and Asian championships and he has also held multiple regional titles in the professional ranks. In 2019, he won the  WBC Continental Americas and WBO Global middleweight titles and has defended both titles 4 times. 

He won his last fight against Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, and as of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

6. Ryota Murata

Ryota Murata is an incredible Japanese boxer with a record of 16-3, with 13 KO victories. 

He is the former two-time WBA (regular) middleweight champion, with two combined defenses. In his most recent fight, he challenged GGG in a title unification bout, and though he had success in the early rounds, he lost in the 9th via TKO. 

His next fight has not been announced yet.

5. Chris Eubank Jr.

Chris “Next Gen” Eubank is a British boxer with a record of 31 wins and only 2 losses, with 22 knockouts. He is ranked #5 by BoxRec, and #6 by TBRB and The Ring. 

He is the former WBA interim middleweight champion and a two-time IBO super-middleweight champion. His most recent fight was against Liam Williams, which Eubank won via Unanimous Decision. 

His next fight has not been announced yet.

4. Jaime Munguia

Jaime Munguia has one of the most impressive records in the division. The Mexican boxer has an undefeated record of 39 wins and no losses, 30 of which have come by way of knockout. 

Munguia is the former WBO light-middleweight champion, a title which he defended 5 times before moving to middleweight, where he holds the WBO Inter-Continental title. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated D’Mitrius Ballard via TKO. His next fight has not been announced yet.

3. Demetrius Andrade

Title(s):

  • WBO Middleweight Champion

To start off the top three, Demetrius Andrade is an American professional boxer with a record of 31-0, with 19 KOs. 

Andrade is also the current WBO middleweight champion. He won the title in 2018 and has already defended it four times. Andrade has also held the WBO light-middleweight title, which he won in 2013, and defended once. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Jason Quigley, and his next fight is scheduled at super middleweight against Zach Parker for the WBO interim Super Middleweight title.

2. Jermall Charlo

Title(s):

  • WBC Middleweight Champion

Jermall Charlo has an undefeated professional record of 32-0, with 22 KOs. he is ranked #2 by BoxRec, TBRB, and The Ring. 

He is the former IBF junior middleweight champion, and he currently holds the WBC middleweight world title as well, which he has already defended 4 times. 

His most recent win came against Juan Macias Montiel, in a completely one-sided bout, and for his next fight, he will be fighting Maciej Sulęcki on June 18th.

 

1. Gennady Golovkin

Title(s):

  • WBA Middleweight Super Champion

  • IBF Middleweight Champion

At number 1, we have Gennady Golovkin from Kazakhstan. GGG has a very impressive record of 21 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw. He is also ranked as the best Middleweight boxer in the world by BoxRec, TBRB, and The Ring. 

Golovkin is a two-time middleweight champion. He is the current unified WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO middleweight champion, and previously also held the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight titles. 

Last weekend, he defeated Ryōta Murata to defend his titles, and win the WBA (Super) middleweight title. The fight was quite competitive, and for the first five rounds, Murata landed a lot of body shots, winning the rounds. However, in the sixth, GGG landed a massive right hand that changed the tide of the fight, and he won via TKO in the 9th round.
