Angel Acosta

Angel Acosta has a record of 22 wins and 3 losses, and he is also the former WBO Light Flyweight champion and deserves an honorable mention. 

Sho Kimura

Sho Kimura is another impressive boxer from Japan who deserves an honorable mention. He has a record of 19-3, and is also the former WBO Flyweight champion, having held the title from 2017 to 2018

Top 10 Flyweight Boxers

10. Jackson Chauke

Jackson Chauke is a South African professional boxer. He has a professional record of 20 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw, and is ranked #9 by The Ring. 

Chauke has held the WBC International Flyweight title and is also the current WBO global Flyweight champion. However, he hasn’t challenged for a world title yet. 

In his most recent fight, he defeated Luyanda Ntwanambi, and his next fight has not been announced yet.

9. Cristofer Rosales

At number 9, we have Cristofer Rosales from Nicaragua. With a record of 31-5, Rosales is quite an experienced fighter and the former WBC Flyweight champion. 

In his most recent fight, Rosales fought Samuel Gutiérrez and won via UD. This fight happened in September of last year, and Rosales has been inactive since. Rosales’s next fight has not been announced yet.

8. Muhammad Waseem

Muhammad Waseem is a very talented professional boxer from Pakistan, and he has a record of 12-2. He is currently ranked #7 by the TBRB and #10 by BoxRec. 

He is the former WBC silver Flyweight champion and has also challenged for the IBF Flyweight title, twice. Last weekend, Waseem fought Sunny Edwards for the IBF world title but lost via Unanimous Decision after a hard-fought bout. 

There is no announcement about his next fight

7. McWilliams Arroyo

Title(s):

  • WBC Interim Flyweight World Champion

Arroyo is a Puerto Rican professional boxer with a record of 21 wins and 4 losses and 1 no contest. He is also the current  WBC Interim Flyweight champion and has held this title since February 2021. 

Arroyo also has previously challenged for the world title a couple of times but couldn’t win. In his most recent fight, Arroyo fought Julio Cesar Martinez, however, the fight was ruled as a no-contest after an accidental head clash. His next fight has not been announced yet.

6. Moruti Mthalane

Our number 6 pick, Moruti Mthalane is a professional boxer from South Africa, and he has a record of 39 wins and 3 losses. 

Mthalane is a  former two-time IBF Flyweight champion, having held the title from 2009 to 2014 and 2018 to April 2021. From 2014 to 2017, Mthalane also held the IBO Flyweight title. 

He lost the IBF title to Sunny Edwards in his most recent fight via UD, and his next fight has not been announced yet.

5. Ricardo Rafael Sandoval

Ricardo Rafael Sandoval is an American boxer, and he has a professional record of 21 wins and only 1 loss. Sandoval is currently the #5 by The Ring and #6 by TBRB. 

He is the former WBC Youth Intercontinental Flyweight champion, and in his most recent fight, he defeated Carlos Buitrago via TKO. As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

4. Artem Dalakian

At number 4, we have Artem Dalakian,  a Ukrainian professional boxer of Armenian descent, with an undefeated boxing record of 21-0.  

Ranked the fourth-best active Flyweight in the world by The Ring, and the TBRB, Artem Dalakian is the current WBA Flyweight champion, having held the title since 2018. 

In his most recent fight, Dalakian won his 5th title defense against Luis Concepción. As of now, there is no official announcement about his next fight.

3. Junto Nakatani

Title(s):

  • WBO Flyweight World Champion

At number 3, we have Junto Nakatani, a Japanese professional boxer, with an undefeated record of 22 wins and no losses. Nakatani s ranked #2 by The Ring and is also the current WBO Flyweight champion. 

He won the vacant WBO title after defeating Giemel Magramo, and in his most recent fight, he defended it against Ángel Acosta. Nakatani’s next fight is scheduled against Ryota Yamauchi on 9th April.

2. Sunny Edwards

Title(s):

  • IBF Flyweight World Champion

Sunny Edwards is a British professional boxer with an undefeated boxing record of 18 wins and no losses. Edwards is also the #1 ranked Flyweight boxer in the world according to BoxRec. 

He is the current IBF Flyweight champion, having defended the title twice. Last weekend, he defended his title against Muhammad Waseem in a largely one-sided fight, which ended with a unanimous decision.

Edwards called out Julio Cesar Martinez after his fight, however, as of now, there is no official announcement about who he will fight next.

  • WBC Flyweight World Champion

Julio Cesar Martinez is a Mexican professional boxer with a record of 18 wins, 2 losses, and 2 no-contests. He is currently ranked as the #1 Flyweight boxer in the world by The Ring, and the TBRB. He also makes it at the top of our list.

Martinez is also the current WBC Flyweight champion, having held the title since 2019. Throughout his reign as the champion, he has defended the title three times. 

In his most recent fight, which happened earlier this month, Martinez moved up a weight class to fight Roman González. However, he lost the fight via a unanimous decision.
